Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Ouch! Like Doug said, you can take whatever money you won't be spending on straights and invest in more soap and DE's!!

That's gotta sting! Sorry about the visit from Mr Murphy, but in the end we shave with what we want to shave with!

More so that some other things, there is a bit of a learning curve involved that could be harsh, given the sharp steel you’re sliding around on your face.

At least you have it a go! Bravo!

....So despite the encouragement I know you will all offer, I know I am to remain a DE shaver while jealously watching you guys shave with those gorgeous straights. That’s okay. Uneventful and smooth shaves is the goal after all and I get that almost automatically with DE’s....

"Uneventful and smooth shaves" is what it's all about. Enjoy those DE's; I certainly enjoy mine and work them in the rotation often.

Ouch! Any body that says they shave with a straight razor, but have never cut themselves, will probably lie to you about other things too, IHMO.

Sorry about the seepage! Nothing wrong with the DE's. I still use one from time to time.

Acquired a "C" plate recently for my Karve razor. While the "D" is fine, the "C" is a better fit for me for a daily driver. Nice automatic smooth shave. I'm really impressed with the Yaqi brush, especially considering the $11 price. Have a GREAT day Gents !!

Those Yaqi brushes definitely intrigue me. There are a couple colors I would be interested in but just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have so many brushes but a few more wouldn't hurt right?

Nice shave and pic. I will have to take a look at the Karve razors.

There is always room for one more brush.

Good stuff Dave...can't ever complain about the auto-driver shaves like that!
Good stuff. $11 is a shaving bargain no matter what it is.

Interesting mix of scent notes on the Hydra! Glad it was a good shave today.

I've only recently heard of that razor. Looks nice!
Thanks for the comments and reading my drivel Gents

Nice smooth shave. No free pens here. I didn't want to get into religous discussions, but guess I should at least clarify I'm at a religious convention in Knoxville, TN, which starts Friday and runs thru Sunday. I get here early to help build the video walls. Happy shaves everyone !!

Looks like the new Karve Plate is working well! Hope your convention does well.

I like the way you set up the shot in your first photo when you started. Which body of water or river is that in the background?

I really like my Karve. I currently possess all of the Karve guards up through D (with E & F on order). I have used them all but do tend to use B & C the most. Sometimes I will switch guards in the middle of a shave usually going from a higher aggressiveness guard e.g. a D to a lesser aggressive guard e.g. an B.

I do the same thing with my Rockwell 6S, another great razor.
