Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Well Dave...that is quite the razor! Sounds like you need to be careful. I know the other Dave, Chris, and Chad are working on a lot of things and it may take some time, but I know they have expressed interest in the alerts with the developers.

Right now it seems that emails are the only options.

That new razor wouldn't happen to be a Timeless, would it?

Don is right. We have been pestering our developers about that tool! I hope it is ready sooner rather than later!

As to your shave... Drunken Goat just might be the worst smelling soap I have ever smelled. To me it reminds me of that bag of catfish bait you buy at the sporting goods store. Some people say it smells like Guinness Beer. Well Guinness is one of my favorites I say malarkey!

There's the tumbleweed nose coming out again...the Drunken Goat smells great!

Actually meant to comment on the soap. Nice scent for me but not wow. Same with slickness. Not as good as others and actually set aside for one to sell as I'm accumulating a stack of soaps to clear out. Something I'm paying attention to is when I disassemble gear and rinse the blade after shaving, how easily does the soap rinse off the blade. This stuff sticks like grease. Maybe I haven't dialed it in but only one I have do that so in the leaving pile it goes. My favorite comment on it's scent is on Maggards. Guy says something to the effect that it smells so good he put some in his mouth to taste and surprisingly, it tasted like soap.

Good shave Dave. Good call to swap out the frankenrazor!

I hope your acquisition is everything you hoped for and more!

Razor: Timeless .68 Open Comb/Scalloped
Blade: Pol Silver SI (1)
Brush: Stirling 2 Band Synthetic
Soap: CF Ghost Town Barber
Aftershave:Thayers Cucumber / CF Ghost Town Barber

I must say the 1st time I saw Chris Bailey shave with the Timeless OC I fell in love with how it looked as well as the shear design put into it, but way over my budget and I was a confirmed vintage guy. Fast forward where @GlazedBoker did a pass around with a Rockwell 6s and I was sold on modern razors too. Got a Karve along with the 6s and enjoy it as well, but still kept looking at Timeless. Finally found what I thought was my ideal setup with the .68 at a fair price. I like slightly mild but efficient and this appears to be Goldilocks "just right". Nice 1st shave with it and we'll see as time goes by. Thanks for reading and hope everyone is having a resplendent day !!
Throwing in a Selfie before the shave since it's National Selfie Day

Had the privilege of shaving with a Timless before, two different base plates. It is probably the most efficient razor I have ever shaved with.

Sounds like the Timeless lived up to expectations, Dave! I'll have to wait until I'm done with work to post a selfie...lol.

Great shave and pics. The Timeless is a great looking razor.

Good stuff Dave. Glad you’re enjoying the new addition!
Thanks guys and thanks for reading. I know there's a lot to keep up with on here, but that's a good thing. Hope it keeps growing.

“The Drunken Goat smells great!” So that’s the secret pass phase?

Just catching up. Great reads and pics.
