The 2022 TSC Weight Loss Challenge!!

Right in the feels. The TSC Convention is in April. I think a lot of us are going to be off our diets that week/weekend.
The only way I can survive is to practice brutal abstinence. If I just eat meats, cheese and fresh non starchy vegetables, I'll be fine... but as soon as I eat a nice piece of bread with gobs of butter... I'm lost. So I'll just stick to it. I took a two day break at the beginning of march.... and that was just a meal out.. and eating the left overs the next day.... I gained two pounds. As I've mentioned..... it's a gift, I tell you.. gaining weight.

This week I totally pigged out. One day cheating turned into 5 days and the scale reflected it this morning. +5lbs! Hoping it is mostly due to all the salt (ate out alot this week) in the food. Will push water and eat better this week.
Some reasons why a lot of low carb diets work are because they provide us a set of rules that help us adhere. For a lot of people mindset is the biggest obstacle to a healthy lifestyle. That’s why finding out what you will adhere to is often the most important factor to weight loss. When I first did Keto it provided me a framework to work within. I am doing more of a meat based paleo approach right now. It works really well for me and affords me some flexibility. Honestly, Monday through Friday I eat almost exclusively meat eggs yogurt fermented veggies and some fruit. Weekends are a little more flexible as I’ll have some regular veggies and a slight indulgence. But I really have be careful that I don’t backslide.

It’s almost a catchphrase by now. But you really do need to figure out what works for you. Keto was great for me but I have concerns that long term there could be issues. I still do keto from time to time, but it’s more of a tool that I use than a way of life. What is a way of life for me at this point is ensuring I get adequate protein on a daily basis and eliminating sugar, wheat, processed food, seed oils, and other grains. I try to eat more of an ancestral diet if that makes sense. But it took me the better part of 5 years to figure this out and I am still tinkering.

Try things out, do your research, take your health into your own hands.

Had a big lunch yesterday from a food truck, but considering how I've been eating lately I don't think it was too bad. Overall, I think I'm doing pretty good. Still cutting out the sweets/snacks. Hope everyone is doing well.

I took a break from fasting so I could enjoy some holiday meals the last two weekends, consisting of lots of Corned Beef, Cabbage, Bacon, Eggs, Steak, and Guinness.

Back into it and dropping weight like crazy. Can't wait to see the scale at the end of the month. I definitely feel slimmer, and notice my pants are getting bigger!

Years ago, I did the Atkins for a couple years in a row. I'm on a modified Atkins now, probably. Mostly proteins and fats with some non-starchy vegetables in the mix as well.

Like has been said... find what works for you and stick with it. The latter is the challenge, of course.

I've been on my journey for four or five years now. And I have found some things that work pretty good...but I want to be in optimal health. I love losing weight...but losing weight isn't everything.

I think your modified Atkins is a pretty damn good plan!

Hope everyone is making good progress.
I was eating junk yesterday and at some point a lightbulb came on and I felt like an idiot for breaking my streak. Doing well overall though.

I’m having a pretty great month all things considered. Between moving and high anxiety with work, I’ve still made some gains and made some overall good decisions. I started trying out flavored seltzer waters(non-alcoholic) and this has really helped me on fast days to continue to feel satisfied. Packing, moving, and unpacking has helped a lot with movement and exercise. Now to keep that going, after we are settled.

Next on the docket is to get my home gym set back up!

Good work @Joshua223

Hope the move goes well.

Kind of fell off the wagon today eating pretzels and pork skins. Didn't help the house we were about to make an offer on went under contract WHILE we were looking at it, BEFORE their listed deadline to submit offers. Last house we really liked our agent said was sold when we called about making an offer. my family lives in a rural area and it nearly impossible to find a place with a decent back yard here. I am getting burned out. 😞

I know man, it was really tough here in STL..... We paid more than we wanted, but still stayed within our original budget. Its crazy to see some homes in our area going for $75-125K over asking...
