Life On the Wee Woo Box

I only soak in cold water and I keep the last half inch or so above the water line.

We have started day 2 of 3 of my work week and it has been chaos because why not. My partner is not particularly interested in amberlamps stuff and isn't afraid to let it show. Putting my foot down won't do anything either because he has rank over me. Moving on.

Same metal stuff combination. I don't know how this stuff is working. This is sorcery if I've ever seen it. And the blade *still* hasn't rusted. More evidence of sorcery.

When I bought the handle, I initially thought it was red, so opening the package to see that it's pink was a little surprise. It still looks cool, and I actually prefer it to be pink now. The boar part of the knot is still being broken in, but it lathers like a champ.

I got Adagio a couple of years ago off of Amazon because that's the only place that had it in stock. It was delivered to the doorstep at my apartment and promptly stolen. This is my second set and I'm glad it's in my den. It took a couple of months to grow on me, but the scent is glorious.

The shave was even more incredible with the R4 plate, which was an experiment. I don't know if I'm willing to try the R6 plate to get bbs in my usual 3 passes because this is already the best shave I've gotten so far. Simply, I'm in love with my steel combination.

RX Bandits started life as Pharmaceutical Bandits, but that's a mouthful so they shortened it. Originally a third wave ska band, they have progressed leaps and bounds in terms of musicianship. This particular album took what they had done on the previous album and cranked it up to 11. I've been jamming this album since I was 16. This is also the most expensive record I have in my vinyl collection because it's the first pressing and they didn't do a second pressing until 10 years after the first. This is a great listen for just about everybody.

I hope everybody had a great weekend and has as good a Monday as circumstances will allow. Thanks for reading.

Man, I haven’t listened to a ska album in ages lol. Good on ya!

Nice shave. Brush looks great!

Ah, the last day of my work week is here and I have a 6 day weekend courtesy of the CBA. I want to try to go fishing at some point because it's been about 2 years and I live too close to the water to not go more often.

I'm using my work kit today because I thought I needed to be at work earlier than usual so I skipped my home shave. Turns out I didn't need to be here earlier.

I have relatively fond memories of the hardware. This is the kit I used when I spent 2 weeks at my fire academy boot camp with 3 of my coworkers. I didn't enjoy waking up at 5 everyday and busting my butt everyday, but I was in good company.

I actually don't remember a whole lot about the metal stuff combination. I know the blades work for me quite well, but I hardly ever use this stuff anymore because I leave it at work. This all fits with the May shaving theme.

I'm still on the fence about the PAA brand. I know about the issues and it's a big deal, but I'm the type of person that tries to give people second chances. That being said, that's still the reason why I don't have more of their products, despite the great performance. I love the hell out of the scent, though.

The shave was remarkable because I opened up an ingrown hair and managed to cut my nose for the second time ever. No big deal. Everything turned out great. I went atg on my neck with no problems and I'm sitting on a dfs for the rest of the day.

Can't Swim. I found them when I did a little web sorcery with a friend. The site doesn't exist anymore, but fond memories of discovering new bands remains. This is their third album and doesn't really progress a whole lot from their last, but I still like it.

Happy hump day!

All I saw was...6 day weekend?!
Yes sir, you read that correctly. I'm on a 9 day work schedule. My schedule is 101010000. But we have it set up so that we have off 12 hours paid every 27 days, and I chose to use 12 hours of holiday with it. My 27 days lands on the first 1, and it's followed by a 0. I think that makes sense.

thats in the same vein of crazy as my schedule. I work a 4 week(soon to be 5 because we have a 5th person now) where we basically work 4 weeks of shifts going between days and nights in 3 weeks and then get 7 days off before doing it all again.

That is nowhere in the same ballpark as my schedule. Yours is pure lunacy. How the hell do you even do that?

we work 12s 6-6. Starting on a friday night thru Monday night. then off till friday for days thru sunday. then off monday. nights Tue-Thur. off till monday. days Mon-Thurs and then off till the following friday.

I was going to say that sounds completely unreasonable, but then I actually read it with slightly less tired eyes. That doesn't sound so bad.

I just woke up from being incredibly sound asleep. I replied to a friend's invite for lunch with, "have you ever slept so hard you forget that you exist?" Actually, now I don't remember a whole lot about what I did last night. Haha

We're continuing with the same steel combination. I ordered a pack of these blades from IB for amor $14 shipped, the bulk of the cost was the actual shipping. Still no rust on this champ of a blade, hanging in desperately for his brothers to join him in my den.

This brush was my second one ever, and was my first up for several months after I got fed up with the Escali piece of crap that was shedding like it was going out of style. It took a while, but it's fully broken in. I don't use it as much as I probably should.

Devotion is one of my favorite scents. I read about extracting the oil responsible for the calming effect a few months ago, and it sounds like it could be promising for treatment of anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders; really cool stuff. Again, I should use it more often. Soap Commander is good stuff and I've been meaning to go get some Courage, but I always get distracted.

Another great shave. I opened up a couple of ingrown hairs on my neck, but it's whatever. That stuff never really bothers me. Thayer's did its job. The balm also has menthol, which really did the trick; it's deathly humid season and it felt great.

I got to see Motion City Soundtrack at one of the last Warped Tours ever and it was incredible. Pierre shared so much of himself and his personal problems, particularly with anxiety and depression, and it helped me through high school so much. Seeing them before they broke up means so much to me. They made some catchy tunes in their day, I'll miss them.

The shave was uneventful and resulted in another damn fine shave, almost bbs. I focused on technique, which seems to be the trick to getting such incredible shaves.
Good observation. That's what I've found. Gear matters, but technique is key, IMO.

This boar knot keeps getting better and better as it breaks in, which has taken about a year so far. I did the soaking in fridge technique and it yielded slightly positive results. Just using seems to be more effective in breaking it in.
I broke in my 3 or 4 boars simply be using them. Just takes patience and time, but they get there.

It's been raining rats and frogs in my corner of Texas, and I guess other parts too. My hopes of going fishing...safely have been dashed. I don't have too much to do today that can't be done any other day that I'm off.

I'm finally switching up the blade; the Treet finally started rusting. It's been quite some time since I've used a Polsilver, at least 2 months.

Another That Darn Rob brush. How many do I have? I think 3. Moving on. This is a beer themed brush. I'm oddly enough not a huge fan of IPAs, although I had a couple of really good ones yesterday. The brush came with it's matching coaster, seen under it in the picture.

My fiancee, who I haven't mentioned so far, loves the scent in Taxes very much. There are only a couple of scents she hates, which I'll eventually use when she's visiting her parents or when she really starts driving me crazier than usual.

Another great shave. I could feel the difference between the Treet and Polsilver, Treet being the better of the two, but not by much. Zero drama. This is just what I needed to get my lazy day started in the middle of the afternoon.

Nightlife is an English pop punkish band. Genre aside, they're fun and energetic, perfect for a Friday. I have no idea if they're still making music, I haven't seen anything on Facebook recently.

Have a great Friday, at least that's what day I think it is. The weekend is here!

Uh oh, I hadn't heard of that scent and went looking on their website. There seem to be a bunch of scents I wasn't aware of.
