I took yesterday and today off from work and I'm currently sitting on the patio at the cigar lounge having some Angel's Envy Bourbon and a Liga Pravida No. 9 Cigar.

Now that’s some good livin’!

The B10 is too cool for school! I’m captivated by the color/design of that blade and perplexed at how that came about. Awesome! BTW, what stones are using to sharpen your knives?

Thanks Chris!

The blade actually has copper in the damascus. It's Williams Henry's own design of damascus.
I don't use stones for my knives. FYI: I only have 3 or 4 "pocket" knives that I sharpen. If you carry or sharpen a new knife you just cut the value of it by about 25% to 30%.

To sharpen all my knives, kitchen or carry, I use this:

It is the easiest and simplest to use system that I've found!

You can usually find them for about $60 or less.

4-14-2018
Pre Shave: Grooming Lounge Mug Cleaner Face Wash (in shower)
Hot Towel
DE Razor: F1 Gillette Fatboy (set on 7)
Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium
Brush: Omega Boar Badger & Blade 10th Anniversary Shaving Brush, Black/Gold Flake Handle
Soap: Haslinger Sandelholz
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse Alum Block, and Thayers
After Shave: Lucky Tiger After Shave & Face Tonic
Cologne: Terre d’Hermès EdT

Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, and yes just for good measure more rain here today. Just wasn't feeling the straight so I grabbed the F1 Fatboy, haven't used it in a while and loaded a PolSilver SI into it.

Haven't used any Haslinger in a while so I grabbed the Sandelholz. If you haven't used any Haslinger you are doing your self a dis-service. This soap is super easy to lather using the SV method. The lather is slick, has great glide/cushion, and residual slickness is awesome! Only thing you can gig it for is strength of scent, 1 of 5 at best. If they would build that up a little this would rival any soap out there IMHO!

Whipped up a great lather with the B&B Boar (Will I get banned for using that?) And 3 effortless passes later I'm BBS+. Just a couple of slight weepers was all that kept this from being a grail worthy shave. Just a little alum sting on the lower chin upper neck area.

Finished with a splash of the Lucy Tiger and followed that with the Terre d'Hermes. They played very nicely together.

Setup 4-14-2018

Have another of our "Gatherings" tonight where everyone brings a bottle or two. I'll report on what was brought later.

Great shave. I will have to add some haslinger to an order at some point.

Could stuff Craig. I like Haslinger. And can't ban you for using a good brush lol

FYI for those that are wondering about the two whiskeys in Friday's SOTD pic.

Straight Edge Bourbon: (from the makers website)

The Spirit
An exceptionally distinctive bourbon with remarkable depth,
complexity and length.

The Mash Bill
70% corn, 17% rye, 13% malted barley
A Rare and Special Spirit

Straight Edge is a blend of 5, 7 and 8-year-old Bourbon from Kentucky and Tennessee. The Bourbon was finished in the Napa Valley where it was aged in seasoned wine barrels. The barrels imparted toasty vanilla and dried fruit notes while also allowing the Bourbon to soften and mellow.

The Profile
Aromatically intriguing with brown sugar, maple, caramelized oak, exotic spices, orange peel and campfire. The palate is velvety smooth, rich and packed with flavors of brown spice, honey and intense caramel. The complexity is apparent and the finish is persistent, long lasting and focused.

Rabbit Hole Kentucky Straight Bourbon:
(from the distiller's website)

Mash Bill:
70% Corn
10% Malted Wheat
10% Honey Malted Barley
10% Malted Barley

Bourbon is an act of faith. The barrel builds a strong foundation of vanilla and wood. Atop that, we bet on an unorthodox, four-grain mash promising spice and honey and a fresh apple breeze. When we first poked the thief into the darkness of the barrel, our faith was rewarded: a whiskey of remarkable maturity and self-possession, with spice on the front and custard in the finish.

There were 10 of us that tasted these two bourbons last night at the "Gathering" and everyone there liked of both of these whiskeys!
My take is the above flavor profiles are pretty much what I got. The Straight Edge starts out smooth and does have a little bite at the end. The Rabbit Hole has one of the most caramel smelling noses that I've every sniffed on a bourbon. Strangely they do not list caramel as one of the flavors. I'm guessing the vanilla and honey combined to give it that flavor and scent to me. It is a very smooth bourbon from start to finish.

Curious when they say they use used barrels for aging and then discuss the flavors added from doing that. Used wine barrels are called neutral because they no longer inpart the oak flavors into the wine.
