Last shave before surgery as I was told not to shave for at least 24 hours prior to surgery. The reason for the surgery is that I had a colonoscopy last month during which they found a cecal polyp that the surface biopsy was benign. The location and size of this polyp will require an Ascending Right Colon Resection to remove it. They are going to do this with a da Vinci Xi robot. I'll be in the hospital for at least 2 days and I'm guessing it will be a few days before I feel up to shaving again.

1st shave since surgery. Not that I haven't been able to shave just haven't been motivated. I did get the pathology results from the surgery and they were precancerous, but benign. I'm feeling pretty good and just a little sore where the incisions are. I go back to see the surgeon on the 23rd.
Man I've got to tell you I'm sold on this robotic surgery. Not that I'm an expert, this was the first time I've had surgery other that oral surgery. I didn't experience any real pain at all. The best way I could describe it a tightness in my abdomen like I have been crunching my abs in the gym for a couple of weeks straight. Of course the incisions were painful to the touch for a few days, and there was this one time that I sneezed, OUCH! Never took anything for pain but Tylenol and Neurontin. I was in the hospital for a total of 2½ days.

Went and saw the surgeon today. He said everything was looking excellent and released me to go back to work on light duty with a 30 lbs. lifting restriction. Actually I think I could have gone back a week ago, but this was the quickest I could get an appointment to see him.

Congratulations on the results of your surgery. I've got a cologuard test on the way. My family has a history of polyps, so I'm expecting this will be just step one.

Awesome news on the surgery Craig! We all want to be free and clear of anything remotely associated with the "C" word. But this is definitely the next best thing. It's crazy the advancements in medicine these days. Glad you were able to get in and out of the hospital and glad recover is going better than expected!

Oh yeah...some really great shaves in there as well!

Thanks! If you are over 50 I encourage you to go ahead and get a colonoscopy done. Could be the difference between a surgical procedure or not.
