Continuing with the "F for February" theme. Asylums Royal Fougere was selected today. What a wonderful Fougere scent and an excellent performing soap also. No problem whipping up an excellent lather with the Wolf Whiskers.

3 passes and a little clean up with the Buck. A couple of slight weepers and just a little alum sting. A nice BBS shave.

Finished with the matching aftershave and some spritzes of the 1881. Good paring IMHO.

3 passes and some clean up. One weeper and a little more than anticipated alum sting. A nice BBS- shave.

Finished up with the matching splash and then a few vasilis of the Terre D'hermes. Yes I'm all Orange Dirty Good! ;)

Razor: Gillette Fatboy F2 (set on 6)
Blade: Parker Premium
Brush: Whipped Dog 24mm Synthetic
Soap: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements (CK-6 Formula) Dixie
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Dixie Aftershave
Cologne: Dolce & Gabbana The One EdP

This soap and aftershave was originally a team effort between Soap Commander and PAA for the 2015 meet up of the the Dirty South Shavers. Soap Commander made the soap and PAA made the aftershave splash. The scent I think was developed with the help of Knock Out Shave (no longer in business). The scent is as follows:
Top Notes: Magnolia, Kudzu, Camellia, Sage, Corn Flower
Heart Notes: Spanish Moss, Green Tobacco
Base Notes: Oakmoss, Bay, Tobacco Absolute
The scent really does put me in the mind of a stroll across the backyard, past the Magnolia tree, though the pasture alongside the Kuduz covered fence, and on into the woods. I do really like the scent. It's a 1.5 in the tub and a 3.5 lathered. I have a couple of other PAA soaps they perform good, however this CK-6 formula is excellent! Man what a great lather! Used the SV method and the Whipped dog loaded up in no time. The lather came very easily and the performance was excellent. Great slickness, cushion/glide, residual slickness, and no stability issues at all. The scent last for the entire shave.

3 passes with the Fatboy and just a little clean up. BBS+ shave with no nicks or weepers. Just a hint of alum sting. A great shave!

Finished with a good splash of the aftershave. My face feels great! Some vasilis of The One and I'm good to go! A very nice pairing IHMO.

Straight Razor Shave #263

Razor: Union Razor Cutlery Co. (Grandad's Razor)
Brush: Paladin Chief 26mm Brair
Soap: Chisled Face Ghost Town Barber
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Chisled Face Ghost Town Barber Aftershave Splash
Cologne: Yves Saint Laurent La Nuti De L'Homme EAU Électrique EdT

Haven't used the GTB in a while so I grabbed it for today's shave. What a great scent and great performing soap and aftershave! I love this scent. Kind of a dusty/dirty barbershop scent.
Performance is excellent!

3 passes and some clean up with Grandad's razor and I've got a good BBS shave. I did manage a pretty good weeper almost nick on the neck. Other than that, some noticeable alum sting. A good shave.

Finished with the matching aftershave and the some spritzes of the Electrique. A great pairing!

Still running way way behind on entering my shaves. Even behind on taking the pictures. Well I have a few so I can get a little caught up.

3-4-2019
Razor: RazoRock Mentor Head with Maggard Razors MR5 Blue Anodized Stainless Steel Handle
Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium
Brush: Envy Shave 24mm White Supreme 2 Band Badger Alluminati Classic - Blue
Soap: Wholly Kaw King of Oud
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Wholly Kaw King of Oud After Shave Splash
Cologne: Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man EDT

What a great shave to to kick off the work week. Wholly Kaw is excellent performing soap for me and I Love this scent! The strength of scent is a 2 of 5 in the tub and a 3.5 of 5 lathered. Of course there is oud, in the scent but there is a lot more going on there too! I get some hints of sage, citrus notes, patchouli, amber, and Sandalwood. Here is the scent profile from Wholly Kaw:
Top Notes: Bergamot, Lemon, Clary Sage, Rose, Aldehydes and Pink Pepper
Middle notes: Angelica, Rosewood, Galbanum
Base notes: Agarwood or Oud, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Patchouli and Amber
I had not issues whipping up an excellent lather with the Envy brush.

Wasn't in a straight mood this morning so I went with a DE. The Mentor head is an aggressive shaver. 3 passes and just a little clean up produced a great BBS+ shave with no nicks or weepers. Basically no alum sting.

Finished with the matching splash and some vasilis of the Armaf Cub De Nuit. Very nice pairing.

Straight Razor Shave #264

Razor: Allegany Instrument Corp. WP
Brush: Maggard Razors 24mm Synthetic Shaving Brush, Marble Handle
Cream: Captain's Choice 45th Parallel
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Captain's Choice 45th Parallel Shave Balm

It's been a long time since I used this soap. I felt it calling me for some reason today. Love this scent! It's a 2 of 5 in the tub and a 3 lathered. Great performing lather. Of course since its a cream loading is not an issue at all. A little water and some whipping in the scuttle and voila lather. Great slickness, cushion/glide, residual slickness, and no stability issues.

3 passes and some clean up with the AIC and I'm BBS. One slight weeper and just a tad bit of alum sting.

Finished with the matching balm and really just forgot to put on any cologne.

Straight Razor Shave #265

Razor: CBLindsay Gold Dollar Mod
Brush: Simpson Commodore X3 in Best Badger
Soap: Soap Commander Serenity
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Barbasol Pacific Rush Afer Shave
Cologne: Hoyt's Cologne

Soap Commander's Serenity was chosen for this after work shave. Didn't shave in the am, decided to sleep in a little while longer. Great scent on this soap. From Soap Commander's website:
"The well-rounded scent of light citrus notes sits on the deeper combination of earthy, wood tones and you might even detect a hint that reminds you of cinnamon (although none is present in the fragrance). This masculine, woodsy scent is strong and grounded, yet smooth and alluring enough to usher you into tranquility. "
I'm not even going to attempt to describe it better than that. Whipped up a great lather with the Commodore X3. Typically great soap commander performance.

3 passes and some cleanup with the CBL Mod and I'm BBS to BBS+ with no nicks or weepers, and just barely noticeable alum sting. A great shave!

Finished with some a good splash of Pacific Rush and them some dotties of the Hoyt's. Really like the scent of Hoyt's. I'll just call it a babershop scent and leave it at that.

Razor: Gillette Z2 Super Adjustable
Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium
Brush: Stirling Soap Co Synthetic 2-Band 24mm
Soap: Stirling Soap Co. The Lounge
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Bootlegger Virginia Perfecto
Cologne: Salvatore Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale Colonia EdT

Let the time get away from me today and was running a little behind schedule so I opted for a DE shave. Stiriling's The Lounge had already been selected for this shave. The scent of this soap really does remind me of a cigar lounge. Not a sweet pipe tobacco smell, but a nice fresh cigar smell mixed in with some whiskey, leather, and just a hint of smoke. Strenght of scent is a 2 of 5 in the tub and a 3 of 5 lathered. Typicaly great Stiriling performance as expected.

3 passes and no clean up produced a very nice BBS shave. No nicks, weepers, or alum sting. A great shave.

Finished a good splash of the Bootlegger Virginia blend and the a few spritzs of the Acqua Essenziale Colonia. Not a bad pairing at all, actully surprisingly nice.

Straight Razor Shave #266

Razor: Friend's S&K Best Straights (test shave after honing)
Brush: Stirling Soap Co. Finest Badger Shave Brush - 26mm
Soap: Proraso Red
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: American Shaving Co. Sandalwood After-Shave Balm

Test shave after honing these razors for a friend. The A and B razor took a bevel without any trouble, the C proved to much more challenging, but I did prevail in the end, it just took a while. Took them all three through the Shapton Pro's and then finished on the Translucent Arkanasas. Now for shaving arm hair with ease, but will it shave the beard?

Went with the Proraso Red soap, great performance and scent. A trusted performer by my standards and today's lather was not a let down.

Late evening shave, which is not normal for me at all. I didn't shave this morning, I wanted a nice full 2 days of growth for this test shave. Had some errands to run after work, them some chores after I got home, before I knew it it was almost bed time. I didn't want to be rushed when I tested these edges so I decided to shave before bed.
I Attempted to use each razor on different areas of the face and on each pass to evaulte the edges as best as I could. This will be the razors that my friend attempts to learn to straight shave with, so the edges need to great! I must say this is a very nice edge I put on these razors IMHO. Nice and sharp and very smooth. He should be able to learn to shave with these razors without any issues. I sterilized them with a 2 hour Barbicide soak and and a good 190 proof alcohol wipe. A good stropping and I'll give them to him the next time I see him.

Would up with a BBS shave, did just a little clean up after the 3 passes. A great shave!

Finished with the Amercian Barber balm. Good stuff, my face feels great!

Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Booster Barber Shop Classic Cigar Bar After Shave

Hadn't used one of Chris's soaps in a while and I was going to the Cigar Lounge tonight so....
If you haven't used one of Chris's soaps you are missing out! That's all I'm going to say.

3 passes and some clean up with the Hess and I'm BBS. A couple of weepers and just some slight alum sting. A good shave!

Soap: Oz Shaving Co. Tik-Tok
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Oz Shaving Co. Tik-Tok Post-Shave Tonic
Cologne: Jimmy Choo Man Intense EdT

Decided to go with one of the Oz Shaving samples today. Tik-Tok is a very nice scent! They describe it as a Tobacco Coffee Scent, that's pretty much says all. More of a sweet tobacco smell, but very nice! Typical Oz Shaving Co. performance. No problems whipping up a great lather.

3 passes with the Super Speed yielded a no nick, no weeper, no alum sting BBS+ shave. A great shave!

Finished with the matching tonic and the some Jimmy Choo. A great pairing!

Went with another one of the Oz Shaving Co. samples today. Yellow Brick is a nice clean smelling mix of vetiver, cedarwood, and bergamot. I like this scent. Typical Oz performance as expected.

3 passes with the Vulcan and some clean up. No nicks or weepers, a little bit of alum sting. A nice BBS shave!

Finished with the matching tonic and then some vasilis of the Fahrenheit. A good pairing to my nose!

What a great way to kick off the work week with a classic scent. Reserve Spice is a nice take on Old Spice. I like this scent! If it wasn't for Old Spice, most of us wouldn't be here!! ;)
Great lather as expected!

3 passes and some clean up with the Wacker. One weeper, no nicks and just a little alum sting. A great BBS shave!

Finished up with the Old Spice after shave and cologne.
