Well, I think it's a given that you're the only one in the cadre with pancake smelling soap.
Well some one had to be the 1st.
Nice use of soap choices. Hope you are doing well!
Thanks Chad! Can't complain, just can't seem to find the time to do everything I want to do.
And bacon, don't forget the bacon.

No shave Monday morning. I went after work and got a haircut and shave, so I didn't need to shave Tuesday either.

Razor: Edwin Jagger Extra Long Double Edge Safety Razor, Chrome DEL8914BL
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: Parker Silver Tip Badger Faux Horn Handle
Cream: Proraso Red
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Proraso Red Aftershave Lotion
Cologne: Penhaligon's Sartorial EdT

3 years ago on this date I shaved for the 1st time with a double edge razor. This shave is to commemorate that shave. I used this razor, brush, and cream for that shave.

Proraso Red Shaving Cream....need I say more. A great performing cream for the beginner and experienced shaver too! Nice Sandalwood scent! Whipped up a great lather in the scuttle with no trouble what so ever and proceeded with the shave.

3 passes and just a little bit of clean up, resulted in an excellent shave. Much better than that one 3 years ago. ;-) BBS++ for sure. Heck yeah this was a Grail Worthy Shave! No nicks, weepers, or alum sting. Just a great shave!

Finished with the Proraso Red ASL. Man that is some good juice! A few vasilis of the Sartorial and I'm good to go! An excellent pairing!

Setup 2-6-2019

I had to go see the Dr. today. My blood sugar readings have been steadily getting out of control. I was controlling my Type 2 Diabetes with with diet and exercise. Yeah I've been slacking on the exercise, but in the past I could tighten up on the diet and things would come back into line. Nope not this time. Diabetes is a progressive disease and I've held it at bay for about 8 or 9 years now. So after a 3 hour wait/visit and a leeching of about a quart of blood. Yeah he wanted to check everything, and it all needed checking, hope nothing else is out of wack! I'm on medication for my Diabetes now. Hopefully the pill will get me back were I should be! So another 4 hours of vacation leave time that I didn't want to use.

Straight Razor Shave #254
Razor: Curtin & Clark Cutlery Co. Our Princess
Brush: Paladin Chief 26mm Brair
Soap: Soap Commander Fortitude
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's

After Shave: Soap Commander Fortitude After Shave Balm
Cologne: L' Instant De Guerlain Pour Homme EdT

Back to the "F" for February theme. Soap Commander Fortitude was selected today. Man I love the scent of this soap, it was on of my 1st Soap Commander scents.
The Chief had no problem whipping up an excellent lather. The scent is pretty much as labeled. Hay, tobacco, and rum. Strength of scent is a 2 of 5 and lathered is a 3 of 5.

3 passes and some clean up with the Princess. No nicks, weepers, and just a very little alum sting. A very nice BBS shave.

Finished with the Balm and then a few spritzes of the L'Instant. They played together just fine.

Straight Razor Shave #255
Razor: Hess 44
Brush: Wolf Whiskers Bishop "Party on Bourbon Street" with Elite Razor 28mm Manchurian White Knot
Soap: Martin de Candre Fougere
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave 1: Aqua Velva Sensitive 5 in 1 After Shave Balm
After Shave 2: Myrsol F./Extra After Shave
Cologne: Guerlain Homme EdT

What an excellent soap! Continuing with the "F" for February theme, I chose the MdC Fougere today. Love this soap! Easy to lather, excellent slickness, glide/cushion, residual slickness, and no stability issues. Strength of scent is a 2 of 5 in the tub and a 3.5 of 5 lathered. A great fougere scent. I do love this scent!

3 passes with the Hess and Mr. M had to visit. Picked up a couple of slight nicks and a few weepers and then some very unexpected alum sting. Still got a BBS- shave.

To ward off any possible razor burn I applied some of the Aqua Velva Sensitive. This is a great performing balm in this respect. Actually a great balm period. The scent is very mild so it won't interfere any cologne or after shave. A good splash of the Myrsol and then a few spritzes of the Guerlain and I'm smelling good. The F/Extra and Guerlain are a good pairing to my nose.

Straight Razor Shave #256
Razor: Buck Salient #138 of 250
Brush: Fine Accoutrements Stout Angel Hair Synthetic 24mm
Soap: Fine Accoutrements Green Vetiver
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Fine Accoutrements Green Vetiver After Shave Splash

Back to Fine Accoutrements for today's "F" themed soap. Green Vetiver is a great vetiver based scent. A nice light citrusy, vetiver, with a hint of tobacco scent. No issues whipping up a typically excellent Fine lather.

3 passes and just a tad bit of clean up with the Buck. A couple of slight weepers and just a hit of alum sting. A very nice BBS shave.

A nice splash of the matching after shave and my face is smooth and feeling great!

Setup 2-11-2012

Knew I had to get some gas on the way to work this morning, so I made it a point to leave be ready a little earlier than normal. Got into the truck and (insert slow engine turning over sound) CRAP come on baby....click click click. Dead Battery! Can't complain I've had this one at least 7 or 8 years I think. So I called the boss, told him I'd be late and then back in the house to wait for the Parts Store to open. 2 hours and $180 later, I'm on my way to work. Another couple of hours of vacation I didn't want to use.

That's cool you know the exact day you started. I always enjoy seeing people go back to their roots for memorial shaves.

Straight Razor Shave #257
Razor: Buck Salient #138 of 250
Brush: Stirling Soap Co. Boar Brush - 24mm
Soap: Mitchel's Wool Fat Soap
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Epsilon Blue Mediterranean After Shave
Cologne: Amway Personal Accents Great Expectations for him EdT

Continuing with the "F for February" theme, Mitchel's Wool Fat was selected today. This soap has the reputation of being finicky. Usually I can get a great lather out of it, but for some reason today was a struggle. Just couldn't get the lather were it should be. On a side note, I didn't notice any shedding from the Stirling Boar brush. This is a great boar brush, the tips have really become nice on it.

Even struggling with the lather, the Buck after 3 passes and some clean up yeilded a nice BBS shave with no nicks or weepers. Alum sting was minimal. So aside from the lather woes, a good shave.

Finished with the Epsilon Blue. This is some good stuff! A few spritzes of the Great Expectations and I'm good to go!

Razor: X2 Gillette Tech w/Maggard Razors MR9 Handle
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: RazoRock Plissoft Disruptor Synthetic
Soap: Mitchel's Wool Fat Soap
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Stetson Aftershave
Cologne: Stetson Cologne

Not wanting to admit defeat and staying with the "F for February" theme, I went with the Wool Fat again. Today instead of making a lather in the scuttle, I decided to face lather. Now that's more like it! The resulting lather was everything the Fat is supposed to be!

Was in double edge mood for this shave, so I went with the Tech. 3 passes and a little clean up and a BBS+ shave. Great shave no nicks or weepers and no alum sting. However Mr. M had to show his face. I dropped my alum block and it shattered. Oh well, break out the next one.

Finished with the Stetson. What a great scent. Stetson was one of the first colognes I can remember buying.

After Shave 1: Pacific Shaving Co. Caffeinated Balm
After Shave 2: Fine Accoutrements Italian Citrus After Shave Splash
Cologne: Acqua Di Parma Colonia Intensa Eau De Toilette

Staying with the "F for February" theme, today's soap was Fine's Italian Citrus. Patterned after Acqua Di Parma Colonia, this is a great scent. Typically great lather whipped up with the Commodore.

3 passes and some clean up with the Klas. No nicks or weepers, but some unexpected alum sting on the neck. Sans the alum sting a nice BBS shave.

Finished with some balm to avert any razor burn and then the matching splash. A few vasilis of the Acqua Di Parma and I'm smelling great!

Straight Razor Shave #258

Razor: Clyde72 Twinworks 50¾
Brush: The Shaving Cadre Brush Eric Sorrentino Barzini with 25MM Quartermoon synthetic knot
Soap: Fine Accoutrements Santal Absolut
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Fine Accoutrements Santal Absolut

Continuing with my "F for February" theme. Another Fine selection today. Santal Absolut, if you like sandalwood and you don't have this in your den, you are missing out! Great sandalwood scent! Excellent Fine performance! What's not to like? Eric's TSC brush whipped up a great lather with ease, as expected.

3 passes and some clean up with the 50¾ resulted in one weeper, no nicks, and some noticeable alum sting on the neck and chin. A nice BBS shave.

Finished with the matching splash. I really don't need any cologne when I use this scent. One of those after shaves that the scent last a good 7 to 8 hours for me.

Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable I-2 (set on 6)
Blade: Parker Premium
Brush: Maggard Razors 24mm Black & White Synthetic Shaving Brush, Black Handle
Soap: Fendrihan Sandalwood & Lavender
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Bromley's Bergamot Lavender Post-Shave Balm
Cologne: Versace Eros EdT

Slept in Wednesday morning and didn't shave till I got home from work.

Continuing with "F for February" Fendrihan Sandalwood & Lavender was today's soap. I ran across this soap will looking for something else. I had forgot I even had this soap. I think If memory serves me correctly I won it in an auction as part of a lot. I know it's been at least 2 years since I used it. Not sure why I haven't used it. I don't remember being wowed by this soap, but I don't remember being opposed to it either. The scent of this soap on the puck is mild, a 1.5 of 5. Lathered up it's a 2.5 of 5. Nice sandalwood and lavender scent, more lavender than sandalwood. A nice scent. Using the SV method I had no issues loading the brush and making a lather in the scuttle. The performance of this lather was good, not great, but good. Nice slickness, cushion/glide was okay, residual slickness was usable. No stability issues and the scent faded just a tad during the shave. So a good soap, but nothing that I'll be replacing.

3 passes and just a little clean up with the Slim. Some how I managed to get to heavy handed and/or aggressive on my neck and had some pretty good alum sting and a nick! Yes I gave my self a little nick on the next to last clean up spot. So I call this a Mr. M visit for sure, I mean really a nick with the Slim! Still got a good BBS shave.

Finished with just the Bromley's to check out its performance. It did a pretty good job of calming down the razor burn. The scent is a very mild, citrusy lavender. A few spritzes of the Versace Eros. SWMBO like's this scent and I do too.

Straight Razor Shave #259

Razor: Geo H. Weyer Vulcan Steel
Brush: RazoRock BC Silvertip Plissoft Synthetic
Soap: Dirty Bastard Soap Co. Freedom Shave Soap
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave 1: Duke Cannon Cooling Afer-Shave Balm
After Shave 2: Clubman Reserve Gent's Gin After Shave
Cologne: Caswell-Massey Number Six Cologne

Dirty Bastard's Freedom was the selection for the "F for February" theme today. They call this a soap, but it is a cream IMHO. Unscented, just a very mild soap scent. Performance is actually great. Very easy to load, just give a damp brush a light swirl. The BC whipped up a great lather. Slickness, cushion/glide, residual slickness, and stability are great.

3 passes and some clean up. Mr. Murphy made another showing today. Got two nicks and a few slight weepers. Very little alum sting except for the nicks and weepers though. A BBS shave.

Finished with the Gent's Gin. Great scent and typical Clubman performance. A few spritzes of the Number Six. A great pairing!

Straight Razor Shave #260

Razor: Wacker Allround Blonde
Brush: Saponificio Varesino SV 2.0 Shaving Brush in Ebony wood
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica Beta 4.3
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave 1: Duke Cannon Cooling Afer-Shave Balm
After Shave 2: Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica Beta 4.3
Cologne: Penhaligon's English Fern EdT

Felce Aromatica is today's "F for February" soap. What a great fougere scent. More on the "dark" of fougeres. I really do like this scent. Whipped up an excellent lather. Typical SV performance as expected. As I was applying the lather to my beard I was thinking to myself this has the making of an excellent shave!

Okay MR. MURPHY, UNCLE! YOU WIN! I GIVE! I thought you had left, but no! You waited in the shadows until the very last of the XTG pass and BOOM there you are, caught yesterday nick and re-opened it. Then on the ATG pass I managed a new one. I thought you were done, but oh no! Some very unexpected major alum sting. So while the results were BBS the shave was not good.

Finished with the Duke Cannon and the matching after shave. They did a pretty good job of alleviating any major razor burn. A few vasilis of the English Fern. Excellent pairing and I am smelling great! So take that Mr. M! (just kidding, you won!).
