Straight Razor Shave #274
Razor: Wacker Allround Blonde
Brush: Yaqi Barber Pole Two Band Badger 24mm
Soap: Soap Commander Respect
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys Witch Hazel
After Shave: Epsilon Blue Mediterranean After Shave
Cologne: Murray & Lanman Florida Water Cologne
Well even though this morning here in North Alabama wasn't very spring like at 43° I was in a spring like mood for today's shave. Soap Commander Respect was chosen as the soap. I wanted a known great performer to take the Yaqi Two Band Badger knot on it's 1st lather. I'm very impressed with this knot, dare I say it is on par with the Stirling Badger??? Yes I do! I'm looking forward to see how this knot breaks in. I didn't really get much odor from it out of the box, but I gave it a good washing in Borax and then a lathering and let it set with the lather on it overnight. The Yaqi loaded easily and it whipped up a great Soap Commander lather on par with any other brush I own. The tips were soft, no scritch, great flow through. Yes I'm impressed with this $28 brush. The handle is comfortable in my hand.
3 passes and some clean up with the Wacker produced a no nicks and no weepers shave. A little bit of alum sting, but it was expected. Had some stubborn areas on the lower neck. I'm rating this a BBS shave.
Finished off with a good splash of the Epsilon and then some spritzes of the Florida Water. A nice scent to start this Spring Day!

Straight Razor Shave #275
Razor: Union Razor Cutlery Co.
Brush: Yaqi Dandelion Green Cashmere Synthetic 24mm
Soap: Mickey Lee Soapworks The Kracken
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys Witch Hazel
After Shave 1: Aqua Velva 5 in 1 After Shave Balm
After Shave 2: Pinaud Clubman After Shave Lotion
Cologne: Yves Saint Laurent La Nuti De L'Homme EAU Électrique EdT
This is my 1st full tub of Mikey Lee's soap. I've used a few samples and always like the performance, just never had pulled the trigger on a full tub. The Kracken is their take on a "Barbershop" scent. Very nice scent. A good 2 of 5 in the tub and 3.5 lathered. Great slickness, glide/cushion, good residual slickness, and no stability issues. The Yaqi Cashmere knot performed very well on it's 1st outing. I did give it a good washing before use, but that was all. Nice backbone, good flow through, and it loaded easily. The tips were nice and soft. So for a less than $20 dollar brush, this is a good buy IMHO.
3 passed and some......well actaully too much clean up. Man did I get some alum sting and a few weepers. Should have just left well enough alone on the neck, but I was chasing he BBS+. So that being said the alum sting was well yes HOME ALONE level! I used some or the Aqua Velva Balm to attempt to lessen the razor burn, but I still had some. So while the results were BBS, this wasn't a good shave on the neck.
Finished with the balm as stated above, followed with a good splash of the Clubman. Yeah some bur there too! Then a few vasilis of the EAU Électrique. A great pairing! So at least I smell good!

Razor: RazoRock Mentor Head with Maggard Razors MR5 Blue Anodized Stainless Steel Handle
Blade: Feather
Brush: RazoRock Plissoft Disruptor Synthetic
Soap: Oz Shaving Co. Woodsman
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys Witch Hazel
After Shave 1: Aqua Velva 5 in 1 After Shave Balm
After Shave 2: Oz Shaving Co. Woodsman After Shave Tonic
Cologne: Dolce & Gabanna The One EdP
Finishing up the trials on my Oz Shaving Co. samples. I have one more, but I'm not a fan of the scent so I probably won't use it. No need too. Oz makes a great performing soap and after shave.
Whipped up a great lather. Woodsman's scent profile is from their website: "
a rich forest of sandalwood, cedar, and oakmoss, blended with cardamom and pine meant to evoke a night stroll through the trees." Yeah that pretty much sums it up! I like this scent!
So much for the good part of this shave. I went with a DE due to the razor burn. That being said, why did I go with an aggressive razor and a Feather blade????
Needless to say I didn't help the razor burn any. No nicks or weepers, but I did aggravate the burn even more. Not a good shave, but BBS results.
Finished with the Aqua Velva and then the matching tonic. A few spritzes of The One and again, at least a good pairing and I'm smelling good.

Razor: Gillette NDC Gold Ball End Tech '46-'50
Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Duke 3 in Pure Badger
Soap: Barrister and Mann Seville
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys Witch Hazel
After Shave 1: Aqua Velva 5 in 1 After Shave Balm
After Shave 2: Azzaro Chrome After-Shave Lotion
Cologne: Azzaro Chrome EdT
Seville is B&M's "Barber Shop" scent. A very nice scent. According to B&M's website:
"a blend of lemon, bergamot, rosemary, lavender, patchouli, and oakmoss." I do like this scent. Strength of scent is 3 of 5 in the tub and a 4 of 5 lathered. Typically excellent B&M performance.
I went mild with today's razor. The Tech did deliver. The razor burn was pretty much gone and with the mild shave from the Tech and me not chasing the baby, I still got a good BBS- shave. A great shave over all.
Finished with the Aqua Velva balm and then followed the a splash of the Chrome. A few spritzes of the EdT and I'm good to go!

Looking forward to using these. A little disappointed with the strength of scent on the Daddy-O in the tub, almost no scent, but the After Shave is nice!
