.... I'm still kicking myself for not ordering a giant bottle of Floid Blue when I had the chance a year or two ago. It was so inexpensive too....
Yeah me too!
Wow, great setups and what mail calls you've had! Not an Alabama fan myself, though a good friend is an alumnus, so I'm happy for him when they win.
Thanks Bruce!
Craig all caught up and really enjoyed the read. Also thanks for the Rudolph gift you sent! Although once I saw it was you that drew me I thought you would have included something a little more crimson. LOL
Thanks Chad! Your welcome! Now why would I do that?

Razor: Gillette Fatboy F2 (set on 6)
Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium
Brush: Stirling Soap Co Synthetic 2-Band 24mm
Cream: Oz Shaving Co. Tornadic
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Oz Shaving Co. Tornadic Post-Shave Tonic
Cologne: Outbound Seafarer Solid Cologne

1st shave of 2019 and I kicked it off with 4 new items, soap, after shave, razor, and cologne.

1st time using the Oz Shaving Co. products. I scooped out for the sample smeared a bit in the bottom of my scuttle. I did dribble a little water on that and let it sit while I showered. The soap lathered without much effort, considering it was a smeared sample. However the lather was very thin. Not sure if I used too little soap, too much water, or if that is the characteristic of the soap. Slickness was good, cushion/glide was okay, residual slickness okay, and I did have some stability issues on the last pass. I do like this scent. It's sold as a crisp fougere. To me it's more of an aquatic barbershop. A nice clean scent. I do get just a hint of some mossy/woody, powder, and musk notes. The strength of scent is a 1.5 of 5 in the sample tin and a 2.5 lathered.

I wanted to used the new Fatboy for today's shave so I loaded a PolSilver SI in to it and proceeded. As expected this is a great shaving razor. Everything functions as it should. 3 passes and some cleanup produced a BBS+ shave with no nicks, weepers, or alum sting.

Finished with the matching Tonic and the scent is a dead on match to the soap. Strength of scent is a 3 of 5. Longevity was about 3 to 4 hours. Face feel is great!

I've never used a solid cologne before. This was gifted to me by my Rudolph buddy aka WildWest74 aka Jim. I haven't heard of this brand before, but it is local product to him. The scents notes are listed as Bay, Citrus, Cinnamon, and Black Pepper. I think that pretty much sums it up. This is a very nice clean scent. The strength of scent is a 3 of 5 on the skin, with a good 8+ hours longevity. Silage is fair. This was a very nice pairing.

Straight Razor Shave #241
Razor: Hess 44
Brush: Maggard Razors 24mm Synthetic Shaving Brush, Marble Handle
Soap: A.J. Murrary's Doc
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Booster Barber Shop Classic Aquaris After Shave Lotion
Cologne: Versace Pour Home Eau De Toilette

So this is the other scent that I got in the A.J. Murary's line. Doc is described as a complex blend of tobacco, fir needle and bay leaf, topped with cedarwood and bergamot that results in a fresh, clean scent. I like it! Nice clean scent! I didn't bloom this soap and I did have a heck of a time getting a lather out of it and it was just okay. Nothing notable but the scent. Not sure if the not blooming made that much of a difference or if it was something else. Could have been just a time factor toward the end, more on that below. I'll have to give it another go to see. The strength of scent was a 2 of 5 in the tin and a 3 of 5 lathered.

This shave just keeps getting worse. What the crap happened to the edge on the Hess? After dragging the blade on my cheeks and attempting my chin, I called it. Grabbed the pasted balsa and hit it 25 strokes on the Chromium Oxide Paste (0.50 micron) and then 25 on the 0.1 micron paste. Then 75 laps on the Tony Miller Strop. Much better! Finished the ATG and did the XTG and then just grabbed a DE to do the ATG and clean up due to time. Some alum sting and a few scattered weepers. BBS- shave.

Finished with the Booster Aquaris. A very nice aquatic scent with some citrusy notes. A nice pairing with the Doc scent. I choose the Versace to go with it and they paired very nicely together. I can see why this is a Canadian barbershop favorite. Great performance!

Straight Razor Shave #242
Razor: Hess 44
Brush: RazoRock BC Silvertip Plissoft Synthetic
Soap: Oz Shaving Co. Wicked
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Oz Shaving Co. Wicked After Shave Tonic
Cologne: Penhaligon's Endymion EdT

Used a bigger scoop of the sample this time and the lather was much improved. Great slickness, glide/cushion, good residual slickness, and no stability issues at all. Okay according to Oz's website "Wicked is our black tie scent, perfectly at home in a tuxedo. Absinthe and leather mixed with a kick of spicy black pepper make this a very sharp scent." Well okay if you say so, to me it smells like Tabac-A-Veg in the sample container. Yes, you heard me correctly, Tabac-A-Veg, which is fine, but not as described at all. FYI for those of you who may not know, Tabac-A-Veg is a 50-50 mixture of Tabac and Pinaud Clubman Lilac Vegetal aka "The Veg".

Took the Hess to the pasted balsa again just to be sure and then a good stropping. Ah yes! That's what this edge should feel like! 3½ passes went well except for one pretty good weeper, almost a nick, but not quite on my lower neck just to the left and below the Adam's apple. Other than that, no alum sting to speak of. BBS to BBS+ shave.

Finished with the matching after shave and guess what? It smells as described! Very nice. Wonder if I got a soured sample of soap, scent wise?? Finished with some vasilis of the Endymion. Yeah that'll work nicely.

That hess is very photogenic. comes out gorgeous in the pictures!
Thanks Tom!
Always enjoy catching up on your photos.
Thanks Chad!
Anyone here from Craig sinve the game? Hope he didn't do anything drastic.
Nothing a good shot of whiskey couldn't fix! Nothing to say but, we got beat, out coached, and out played. Still a 14-1 season is nothing to be ashamed of. ROLL TIDE!

Straight Razor Shave #243
Razor: Wacker Allround Blonde
Brush: Stirling Soap Co. Boar Brush - 24mm
Soap: Soap Commander Commitment
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Soap Commander Commitment Aftershave Splash
Cologne: Caswell-Massey Sandalwood Cologne

Wasn't in the mood to us another new soap or sample today so I decided to kick off the week with Commitment. This is a very nice sandalwood scent! Strength of scent is a good 2 of 5 in the tub and 3 of 5 lathered. Of course typically great Soap Commander Performance. The Stirling Badger brush had no issue whipping up a great lather. If you don't have one of these brushes in your stable you should! At the price these sell for they are as good or better than brushes costing 2 to 3 times as much. Great value for your money!

3 passes and some clean up with the Wacker. Just one slight weeper on the chin. Alum sting was just barely noticeable. End results was a BBS shave.

Finished with the matching After Shave Splash. This is some good juice. The face feel is excellent! A few spritzes of the Caswell-Massey and I'm good to go!

Straight Razor Shave #244
Razor: Wacker Allround Blonde
Brush: Maggard Razors 24mm Black & White Synthetic Shaving Brush, Black Handle
Soap: Oz Shaving Co. Nonestic Ocean
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Oz Shaving Co. Nonestic Ocean Post Shave Tonic
Cologne: Paco Rabanne Pour Homme EdT

Went with the Nonestic Ocean sample for today's shave. The scent of this soap is a very Clovey Bay Rum scent. I don't hate it, but I don't see myself buying a full size either. Strength of scent is a 2.5 of 5 in the sample tin and maybe a 3 lathered. Scooped out some and smeared it on the bottle of the scuttle and dribbled a little water on it to bloom. This soap was pretty thirsty. Took more water than I thought it would to get a later. The lather however was great!

3 passes and some clean up with the wacker. Mr. Murphy did drop by and give me a slight nick just below the mustache on the right side. Nothing that the alum couldn't handle. Other than the nick no alum sting to mention.

I finished with the matching After Shave, again a dead on match. Great face feel. I followed with a few spritzes of the Paco Rabanne. This was a nice pairing.

Razor: Gillette Z2 Super Adjustable
Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium
Brush: Whipped Dog 24mm Synthetic
Soap: RazoRock Blue Fougere
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: RazoRock Aqua After Shaving Splash
Cologne: Davidoff Hot Water EdT

Was in a fougere kind of mood today so I went the RazoRock Blue Fougere, which is an intoxicating scent. The name pretty much describes it. Strength of scent is a 2 of 5 in the tub and a 3 to 3.5 lathered. Typical Great RazoRock performance. Easy to lather with the Whipped Dog.

I wasn't in a straight mood this morning so I decided to go with the Super Adjustable. 3 passes and some clean up produced a nick, weeper, and alum sting free shave. Definitely a BBS+ shave.

I didn't even notice that I had grabbed the Aqua scent splash till I did the picture. Not sure why I did that. However it's still a great scent and the Hot Water played very well with it.

Razor: Gillette Super Speed Black Handle Flare Tip S4 (set on 6)
Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium
Brush: Stirling Soap Co Synthetic 2-Band 24mm
Cream: Oz Shaving Co. Oilcan
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Oz Shaving Co. Oilcan Post Shave Tonic
Cologne: Suavecito Oscuro Eau De Toilette

Working my way through the Oz samples, Oilcan scent was up today. I have not idea how they came up with Oilcan for this scent. From their website A deep slightly sweet base of tobacco and hints of vanilla, mid notes of bourbon and a light citrus top. I can't describe it any better than that. I like this scent! Typical Oz performance as I've come to expect from these samples.

Let the day get away from me and found myself a little pressed for time, so I decided to use the Super Speed Flare Tip for this shave. 3 passes and some clean up and I'm rewarded with another BBS+ shave with no nicks, weepers, or alum sting.

A good splash of the tonic and then a few spritzes of the Oscuro. My face feels great and I'm smelling good. The Oscuro paired very well with the Oilcan!

The Order of The Dram had another gathering last night. Here is what was available for tasting.

George Dickel Barrel Select Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey, John J. Bowman Virginia Straight Bourbon, Old Smokey Salty Caramel Tennessee Whiskey,
Starlight Rye Whiskey, Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch, Noah's Mill Kentucky Bourbon

Clayton James Tennessee Whiskey, Old Forester 1870 Kentucky Bourbon, Glenfiddich India Pale Ale Cask Single Malt Scotch, Basil Hayden Kentucky Bourbon, Zaya 12 Year Rum

Del Bac Dorado Whiskey, Copper Pony Rye Whiskey, Del Bac Clear Whiskey, Glenmorangie 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch, Old Camp American Whiskey, Baker's Kentucky Bourbon

OOld Ezra 7 Year Old Kentucky Bourbon, Whistle Pig 10 Year old Barrel Select Rye Whiskey, Dalwhinnie Distiller's Edition Single Malt Scotch, Old Forester Stateman Kentucky Bourbon, Heaven's Door Tennessse Bourbon.

I would recommend any of these! Be warned the Old Smokey is more like a liqueur, very caramelly and sweet, 80 proof, but very smooth.

It is posts like that last one that make we want to fly out and have you teach the ways of Whiskey. I feel like such a noob every time you post stuff like that.
