Soap: Fuzzy Face Soaps Spearmint
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Barbasol Pacific Rush
Cologne: Penhaligon's Edymion EdT
New soap maker today. I have 3 different samples of this makers soap, so I'll hold off on the soap review till the last one. The scent of this soap is well Spearmint. Smells like chewing gum, I kinda like the scent. It's supposed to have menthol in it, but I didn't get any. Strength of scent is a 3 of 5 in the tub. The scent kinda weakens as the shave progressed but still there.
Just wasn't in a straight mood today. 3 passes with the 6S and I'm BBS. Murphy did pay a visit though. Gave myself a pretty good nick on the chin on the ATG pass. I'm really, it was like the last stroke and OUCH! Curse you Mr. M!
Finished with the Pacific Rush and then a few vasilis of the Edymion. All in all a good shave.

2nd Fuzzy Face Soap Sample. The scent strength of this soap is a 1.5 of 5 in the tub and doesn't get any better on lathering, but it didn't fade any either. Very complex scent. I can't really pick out any individual notes in it. From the the makers website:
This fragrance is an Oriental Floral Amber. This sensual, deep scent was named for the famous city in Arizona, invoking days of old and a deeper, richer experience. It opens with green notes of Mandarin Leaf and Orange Blossom. Heart is heady night Floral, Bulgarian Rose and Vetiver. Dry down has sensual notes of Sandalwood, Bourbon Vanilla, Amber, Labdanum and Tonka Bean.
2 straights for this shave. Testing the edge that I put on a friends No Name Chinese razor. This razor would just glide over a cherry tomato, barely marking it at all. Guys I'm here to tell you, it took forever to set the bevel on this razor. I've repaired and set the bevel much easier and quicker on other razors. The Geometry looked to be ok, but the angle of this razor was no were near what it should have been. It was more like a knife edge. After honing I did see some uneven geometry. After about 4 hours on the DMT 600 and Shapton Prol 1K I did succeeded in getting the bevel set. I took it through the progress of 5K, 8K and 12K Shapton Pros and then finished on the Translucent Arkansas. Finial results were tree topping nicely. I'll give this edge an B+ to A-, but considering what I started with that is a WIN! I did my 1st pass with it and it did deliver good reduction. I didn't do the rest of the shave with it, I wanted to give it a Barbicide soak so I could give it back to him today.
The really bad thing is, he claims this razor was sold to him as shave ready at an AOS store. I really find it hard to believe that a AOS store even had this razor. My biggest concern is how many others have bought this $13 dollar razor kit as shave ready and then tried to shave with it! Now mind you he said he paid $65 for it. But I've found it on
alibaba.com for $13 for a kit (box, brush, strop, and razor). This just makes me wonder how many have purchased sub standard razor, attempted to shave with them and failed. Thus turning them off to Traditional Wet Shaving. Such a shame.
Any how did the 1st pass with the Chinese razor and then finished with Grandad's razor. 3 passes and no nicks or weepers. Just a little alum sting.
Finished with the Whiskey Bar and the some spritzes of the Oscuro.

Straight Razor Shave #222
Razor: Geo H. Weyer Vulcan Steel
Brush: Maggard Razors 24mm Synthetic Shaving Brush, Marble Handle
Soap: Fuzzy Face Soap Blue Man
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Floid Black After Shave
Cologne: Armani Code EdT
My last sample of the Fuzzy Face Soaps. This scent is based on no longer available cologne that I've never heard of, Aquolina Blue Sugar and it seems it is on longer made. I do like this scent. Strength of scent is a 2 of 5 and 2.5 of 5 lathered. The scent lasted for the entire shave. From the soap makers website:
The base note of Black Patchouli blends perfectly with Orange Peel, Sparkling Mandarin, Coriander Leaves, Star Anise and Venezuela Tonka.
I've now used 3 samples of this soap. I smeared an almond sized amount of each of them into the scuttle and dribbled just a tad of water on them and let them soak. May have not been necessary as this is a very soft croap like soap. This soap lathers very easily. Slickness is great, glide and cushion is great too. However the residual slickness it just average at best. I pushed the water on this soap and didn't get any better residual slickness. The lather is very stable, until I put too much water into it. At this point and time I don't think I'll be buying a full sized soap for that reason. Too many soaps out there that perform in all categories.
3 passes yielded a BBS shave. No nicks or weepers and just a little alum sting on the neck.
Finished with Foild Black and followed with the Armani Code. A nice pairing.
