Good shave today Craig...and I love the pic! The biking looks like it is coming along just fine. Just got mine back from the shop (same day service...can't beat that). I'm going just for a casual ride today...but I think tomorrow I am going to get after it. I have been sedentary for way too long!

Good call, since it’s summer time I guess I should pull out the live as well.
I think you mean Lime? Thanks Dave!
Nice one Craig. I've had the same issue with the Stirling boar...to the point where it's been sitting, unused for a while. Might have to break it out to give it a try again soon.
Thanks Josh!
Nice shave
Thanks Don!

Thanks Don! I saw the pictures! The bike looks great!

Straight Razor Shave #178

Pre Shave: LAB Series Pro LS All-In-One Cleansing Gel
Razor: Hess 44
Brush: The Shaving Cadre Legacy
Soap: RazoRock Irish Countryside
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: RazoRock Irish Countryside After Shaving Splash
Cologne: Zcent Irish Countryside EdP

I finished the restoration of the Hess 44.

Just for a reminder this is what I started with.

This is the finished razor.

I did a little edge repair and then set the bevel on the Shapton Pro 1K. Then took it through the progression on the Shaptons 5K, 8K, and 12K. Then I finished it on the Translucent Arkansas. I used the newly lapped side to do the finial honing. I then stropped on the pasted balsa and finished on the Heirloom strop.

I can say this is the best edge I've done yet. The additional lapping on the Trans Ark did produced a noticeably smoother edge.

I selected the Irish Countryside for the inaugural shave. The TSC brush whipped up a great lather as expected.

3 passes and some slight clean up yielded a BBS+ shave. I did push it some chasing the Grail, but that resulted in some alum sting. No nicks or weepers and the alum sting wasn't bad.

I finished with the After Shaving Splash. Just a little burn.

A few vasilis of the EdP and I'm good to go.

Straight Razor Shave #179

Pre Shave: CBL Preshave Soap
Razor: Hess 44
Brush: Envy Shave 24mm White Supreme 2 Band Badger Alluminati Classic - Blue
Soap: Henri et Victoria Cognac & Cuban Cigars
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Henri et Victoria Cognac & Cuban Cigars Aftershave Splash

The Heri et Victoria got choosen for this morning's shave. I whipped up a nice lather with tehe Envy brush. The lather was nice and slick, with good cushion, residual slickness wasn't what I was expecting, but I think it could have been improved with more water. The scent, oh the scent, just as labeled a nice sweet cognac followed by the scent of smoke from a fine cigar. I Love it! Strength of scent in the tub is a 2.5 of 5. Lathered it's a 4 of 5. The scent did fade just a little to maybe a 3 of 5 by the end of the shave. No stability issues.

I really over did it with the buffing strokes and the lower level of residual slickness. This produced a BBS shave, but I did have some nice alum sting. Managed to give myself a slight scratch with the toe on the right cheek bone. Nothing major, just got careless.

Finished with the Aftershave Splash. Its pretty much a dead on scent match. Strength of scent a 3 of 5 and longevity was at least 4 hours.

Did get the bike out this evening after the rain stopped.

Well no wonder you got a scratch, I might have too with a full bottle of Remy in the shave!

Good stuff Craig.
