Nice shave Craig...it's easy to get those scratches when you have a toe like that on the razor!

Up to just short of 14 miles on the bike, great job!

Catching up, Craig. Wonderful job on that razor restoration!.....And with all your bike riding, have you been keeping up with the Tour de France? When I was stationed in Germany, I did quite a bit of cycling and was TOTALLY into it. But sadly, Stateside, especially the part of the country that you and I are in, the motorists are absolute "you-know-whats!".

Well no wonder you got a scratch, I might have too with a full bottle of Remy in the shave!

Good stuff Craig.
LOL yeah that could account for it, but nope I don't drink and shave.
Got a shave behind somehow but that restored razor is absolutely stunning. Great shaves Craig!
Thanks TJ!
Which bottle were you using for after shave?
LOL
Craig, nice shave and you are shaming me with the bike rides. Good for you !!
Thanks Dave!

Drinking and Shaving? I think I see a future video!
As a what not to do?

Thanks Dave!

Straight Razor Shave #180

Pre Shave: CBL Preshave Soap
Razor: Klas Tornblom Eskilstuna
Razor: Gillette Z2 Super Adjustable (set on 6)
Blade: Parker Premium Platinum
Brush: Parker Slivertip Badger
Cream: Proraso Red
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave 1: LAB Series Razor Burn Relief
After Shave 2: Proraso Red After Shave
Cologne: L'Instant De Guerlain Pour Homme EdT

Got up and just wanted a nice easy no muss no fuss shave. Didn't even think about it be Friday the 13th. Yes Mr. Murphy came to play.
The Proraso produced a great lather as per norm, but just never did get the mojo going with the Klas. After several weepers and a couple of nicks, on the WTG and ATG pass I cryed uncle and remember what today was. I grabbed the Super Adjustable and did the ATG and just a little clean up.

Alum sting was there as expected. Still managed a BBS shave.
Clammed everything down with the LAB Series and the Proraso Red. Then some vasilis of the L'Instant.

Pre Shave: CBL Preshave Soap
Razor: Gillette Z2 Super Adjustable (set on 6)
Blade: Parker Premium Platinum
Brush: Fine Accoutrements Classic 20mm Synthetic
Soap: Fine Accoutrements L'Orange Noir
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Fine Accoutrements L'Orange Noir After Shave
Cologne: Terre D' Hermes EdT

I didn't want to see if Mr. M was still hanging around today, so I went went the Super Adjustable. Whipped up a great l
ather with the Fine brush and "Orange Dirt" soap. 3 passes and some clean up. No Alum Sting! A nice BBS+ shave.

The Parker blade is pretty much done. I could feel some tugging and the sharpness is noticeably less. I think this is about 12 full shaves on this blade, plus some clean ups. That's pretty good. I'm going to be purchasing some of these or maybe see if someone wants to trade, hmmm.

Finished with the L'Orange Noir after shave and then a few spritzes of the Terre D' Hermes.

Nice Shaves and pictures Craig. While reading about the straight on the 13th I was thinking about your tutorial videos. "If your not comfortable, JUST STOP RIGHT THERE, no need to go any further, just stop" Good call for the super adjustable to finish. With all you straight shavers it's hard to not want to try and get back into them...........I 'm contemplating......

Great set of shaves Craig! Bummer Murphy visited on Proraso Red day though...
Thanks Chris!

Thanks Dave! Yeah sometimes we need to listen to our own advice!

Nice couple of shaves Craig...seems like Murphy contracted out to hit multiple locales at the same time on the 13th. He's a devious one, that Mr. M.

Once again I've fallen behind on posting and reading. Here is a recap of the last 4 shaves. Not too much to say about most of them. Pretty uneventful shaves, using know products. For some reason I decided on a blue theme this week.

Straight Razor Shave #181

Pre Shave: Bulldog Original Face Scrub
Razor: Klas Tornblom Eskilstuna
Brush: RazoRockPlissoft Disruptor Synthetic
Soap: RazoRock Blue Fougere
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: RazoRock Blue Fougere After Shaving Splash

This was kind of a prove there is nothing wrong with the edge shave. On the last outing with the Klas I wound up with weepers and nicks and did the ATG pass with a DE. This shave was back to par! Just a couple of weepers and very little alum sting. A nice BBS shave.

The Blue Fougere is a great scent and typical RazoRock performance all around.

Straight Razor Shave #182

Pre Shave: Bulldog Original Face Wash
Razor: Klas Tornblom Eskilstuna
Brush: Whipped Dog 26mm Synthetic
Soap: RazoRock What The Puck Blue
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: RazoRock What The Puck Blue After Shaving Splash

This is RazoRock's take on Floid Blue. Thanks to Chris H. aka cmh737 I know have a sample of Floid Blue to compare it too. It is very close. The Floid to me is a little more cleaner smelling and I kind detect a little menthol scent on the Floid.

3 passe with the Klas and just a tad alum sting. I did give myself a pretty good weeper, but the alum closed it right up. A nice BBS shave.

Straight Razor Shave #182

Pre Shave: CBL Pre Shave
Razor: Allegany Instrument Corp. WP 5/
8 cira 1920 to 1940
Brush: Wolf Whiskers Bishop "Party on Bourbon Street" with Elite Razor 28mm Manchurian White Knot
Soap: Martin de Candre Fougère
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Floid Blue After Shave
Cologne: Penhaligon's English Fern

This was a very nice shave! The Wolf Whiskers whipped up a great lather from the MdC. The AIC just skated across my face. No nicks or weepers and just a barely noticeable alum sting. A nice BBS+ shave.

Finished with the Floid Blue. Why did they quit making this? The scent is excellent, the performance is great. I wish I had snagged a bottle or 12 of this before it became unobtainium!

Now the big question, which is closer RazoRock What The Puck Blue or Epsilon Blue. Both are very similar and close, neither is an exact match. The RazoRock to me comes in second overall. The Epsilon is a closer match, but it is for lack a better term, "bluer", kind of cleaner and I want to say sweeter, but that is not the right description. It's not sweet smelling just sweeter smelling.
I've let 4 other guys compare these tonight and the decision is a 50/50 split. So either one would be a good replacement IMHO.

Razor: Italian Barber Mentor Head & Maggard Razors MR5 Blue Anodized Stainless Steel Handle

Cream: Proraso Blue
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Master Well Comb Breeze After Shave

Another Blue themed shave. Used the DE just because of the blue handle. 3 passes and some touch up and I'm BBS+

Finished with the Breeze ASL and then a few spritzes of the Chrome and I'm good to go.
