Craig great shave and sorry about the work front. It sounds like a 'safety' expert who has no real understanding on the job got to call the shots. It blows but I think you are having the right attitude about it.

Bummer about the work situation, Craig. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the up-the-chain dudes is a new guy.

Sorry to hear about the suspension. No worries about venting, this is a good place to let it out a little.

Damn Craig, sorry to hear about the involuntary vacation days. I guess sometimes the bosses just need to make an example now and then, stinks it had to be you and your partner.

Great shave though, you’ll certainly have plenty of takers for a trade here lol! I have a small sample of 70th I’ve been holding off on using till a very special occasion...don’t know when though!
Thanks Chris!
That reall blows Craig. It obviously isn’t right to punish when it sounds like they are changing expections of something that wasn’t previously done. I hope the effects are limited to two days of relaxing.
Thanks Dave!
Nice review on the Opuntia, Craig. It was bound to happen that it wasn't going to jive with someone.

On the work front, I've seen this happen a few times where an SOP gets changed without being disseminated and for reasons that can never be truly explained. Sucks that you and your work partner are getting the brunt of it, but at least you have two days where you don't have to deal with the higher ups.
Thanks Josh!
Nice shave Craig and sorry for the work woe. Enjoy the 2 days and put it behind you, man.
Thanks Dave!

Thanks Eric!

Great shave and bike ride.

The work situation sucks. My only worry for you once you get back to work and start being "by the book" guy is that they will start giving you trouble for "being too rigid and inflexible." But, you totally should be that guy.

Thanks Doug! I've always said I don't make the rules but I can follow them.

Straight Razor Shave #177

Pre Shave: Dove Men+ Hydrate+ Face Scrub
Razor: Grandad's Union Razor Cutlery Co.
Brush: RazoRock BC Silvertip Plissoft Synthetic
Soap: RazoRock Emperor
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: RazoRock Emperor After Shaving Splash
Cologne: Zcent Emperor Cologne

RazoRock Emperor was selected today. This their take on Aventus. A great scent for sure. This one is a little more fruity than the WSP Olympus to me. Strength of scent 2.5 of 5 on the puck and about the same lathered, just a little more. I can smell it in the scuttle. Scent lasts for the entire shave. Performance wise, typical RazoRock performance, easy to lather, good slickness, good cushion/glide, good residual slickness, no stability issues, heat from the scuttle did not effect if. Overall a great soap.

3 passes with Grandad's razor and just a little touch up. One weeper and just a tad bit of alum sting. A good BBS to BBS+ shave.

The after shave is a dead on scent match and so is the cologne. Typical RazoRock performance on the after shave. Longevity about 2 to 3 hours. Strength of scent a 2.5 of 5. The Zcent is still noticeable on the skin 6 hours later. SWMBO approves of the scent.

Setup 6-29-2018

Back to work today and it was Monday on a Friday which along with the heat index of 103° and the system that was giving problems was in the only unconditioned bay, well, yeah it sucked! Other than that, a long conversation with the Boss and Bosses Boss before I even got in the building today no other issues. They both agree we, being the entire site, have a lot of issues safety and SOP wise that need to be addressed and worked on. k

Currently sitting on the patio at the cigar lounge, a nice breeze blowing, with some Jameson Black Barrel and a Liga Privida No. 9 cigar. All is good!

Great thoughts on Emperor! Bummer on the Murphy though; grandpa giving the grandson a little reminder? Lol.

Hope things continue to smooth out at work. I was in the CA heat most of the day too...ugh!

Good shave Craig except the Murphy bit. Hope work smooths out for you soon. I have been eyeing that Emperor scent for a while now just haven’t pulled the trigger.

Not sure how I got so behind on your Journal Craig, but it seems that there has been a lot going on in your life. You have had some great shaves and it seems like you have some great bike rides. Really sorry about the work situation. I find that in these type situations there isn't a lot you can do about it. Fair or unfair...make you position known and bite your tongue on the rest. I say this from a guy who hasn't always kept to this wisdom...let's just say that I am my own worst enemy sometimes.

Yes it is Craig...yes it is!

Thanks TJ! I had been waiting on all the full set to be back in stock, soap, AS, and Cologne.
Nice read Craig...hopefullly the return to work goes uneventful!!
Thanks Josh!

Thanks Don! No Worries I have fallen behind on more than one occasion.

Pre Shave: LAB Series Pro LS All-In-One Cleansing Gel
Razor: Gillette Super Speed Black Handle Flare Tip S4
Blade: Parker Premium Platinum
Brush: Saponificio Varesino SV 2.0 Shaving Brush in Ebony Wood
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica Beta 4.3
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica
Cologne: Penhaligon's Sartorial EdT

Okay, do you like Saponifcio Varesino Soaps? Do you like fougere scents? Well BUY THIS SOAP! That's all I'm going to say! I was in fougere heaven. Scent on the puck 2.5 of 5 lathered 3 of 5, I can smell the scent while I'm making the lather. Performance, I did say it was SV right?

3 passes and some clean up with the Super Speed. BBS+, no nicks or weepers and just a tad little bit of alum sting on the touch up areas. The Parker blade is still going strong. I'm noticing just a little less sharpness, but no tugging or pulling yet. I think this is 9 full shaves a
nd I don't know how many touch ups I've done with it.

Finished with the ASL and the scent is dead on match. Longevity is about 3 hours. Performance, I did say it was SV right?

A few vasilis of the Sartorial, yeah yeah English Fern was the obvious easy choice, but this WORKS!

Setup 6-30-2018

Typical Saturday nigh at the cigar lounge. Enjoying some Aberlour A'bunadh single malt scotch and just finished a Canimao cigar, next up a Deliciosos Octberfest. Never had this cigar before, some initial sweetness on the lips, so the tip at least must be infused. A nice stick, I get some walnut in this cigar, don't think I've ever identified that in a cigar before. A nice medium bodied cigar, some mild spice and a nice cedar with a hint of coco on the finish. Actually pairs fairly well with the scotch.

Nice past couple of photos, Craig! And Sartorial w/the Felce? Hmmm, interesting.

Okay...I have been resisting the SV purchase. Not sure why...but I have. It looks like SV is going on the list!

My problem with Scotch Whiskey is that I really like good Scotch, but if it is even a little sub-par, I find it tastes horrible. I will likely give some of them a try again...but man they get pricey quick!

Good shave Craig and great notes on the cigar. Makes me want to go out and smoke a stogie! But that would be gross...it's not even 8 AM right now!

Go ahead Don you know you want too! So define good Scotch? or good whiskey or good wine or good beer....etc. It's all according to your palette. I've had great scotch that is $30 per bottle and crap scotch that I paid over $100 for a bottle. Same with any other liquor or wine.

Thanks and might I suggest a Drew Estate Tabak Especial, which is a infused cigar that tastes like coffee smells, well that's how I describe it. Or a Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real if you don't want to go the flavored route. A very big flavor, but mild smoking Dominican blend.

Catching up, Craig! I have never tried the SV...but I think I'm going to need to sooner or later...

And you were sipping one of my fave scotches the other night - the Aberlour A'Bunadh is an absolute gem!
