Gotta love that GTB! Great stuff Craig. The Semogue 830 was my first shaving brush, though it's been quite a while since it was broken out.
Thanks Eric!
All caught up, Craig. Great stuff!

LPL soap - I wish it performed better for me at home because their rose scented soap is a wonderful rose scent indeed.

Nice job on the honing.
Thanks Chris! To bad it doesn't perform well for you.
Yup nuff said!
Thanks Chris!

Heh, I grew my goatee after leaving direct patient care. I've been told that if I'm ever in the position to need airborne precautions, I'll have to wear the full hood thing now.

Yeah this if I have to go into a dust test chamber, or into possibly a dangerous inhalant type environment. The dust chamber would be the case more than likely.

Sweet repair on the Case! While I have flirted with large caliber wheel guns, economics have kept me to mid-caliber semi-autos. And a Square Deal B. :-)

Pre Shave: Bull Dog Original Face Scrub
Razor: Gillette NDC Gold Ball End Tech '46-'50
Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium
Brush: Parker Silvertip Badger
Cream: Proraso Single Blade Azur Lime
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Proraso Single Blade Azur Lime After Shave Balm
Cologne: Royall Lyme All Purpose Lotion

Wound up not shaving yesterday, so 2 day growth this morning.

Haven't used the Azur Lime in a while and this morning I was in a Spring like mood so it got selected.

The Proraso Single Blade line is Tier 1 performance for me. Easy to lather, slick, stable, great residual and will take a lot of water. Really enjoyable scent too! I figure If I used this tube everyday it would last a year.

The Tech did a great job mowing down the growth, 3 passes with some J hooking and buffing and BBS+ darn near grail worthy shave. No nicks, weepers, or alum sting.

Rubbed in some of the balm and a few dotties of the Royall Lyme an I"m all Limey Good!

In other news, I got a stick of gum out of a pack at work today and noticed this:

Thanks Doug!

Yeah, I know right? I wonder how long it has said that. I just happened to notice it today.

Excellent pic Craig!

Don't get me started on nutrition and such. That gum label scares me...I mean it really scares me!

Now I am going to be looking at every single pack of gum I pick up from the store!

Wonderful shave Craig, and great picture. Genetically engineered gum...wow. That is quite the opposite of re-assuring....

Thanks Don! Yeah I'm almost afraid to research it, but I probably will later today.

Thanks Josh! Yeah I know.

Catching up. Great shaves. Genetically engineered huh? Makes you really want to check all the packages in the cupboard, doesn't it?

Straight Razor Shave #157

Pre Shave: Bull Dog Original Face Wash
Razor: Clyde Twinworks 50¾
Brush: Semogue Excelsior 830 Boar
Soap: Chiseled Face Groomatorium Ghost Town Barber
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Chiseled Face Groomatorium Ghost Town Barber

Chiseled Face Groomatorium Ghost Town Barber, need I say more?

The Semogue made quick work of making the lather. This brush has really came into its own. Great backbone and the tips have gelled nicely.

3½ passes with the 50¾ left me with a BBS+ and 2 slight weepers. Just a noticeable little bit of alum sting on the neck.
Finished with a good splash of the GTB AS.

Setup 5-2-2018

Had to be fitted for a full face respirator for work today. Saw a lot of former bearded co-workers there. Next I have to to the company doc and prove I can breathe.

GTB Craig. Nothing else more be said.

Straight Razor Shave #158

Pre Shave: Urth Face Wash and Scrub
Razor: Klas Tornblom Eskilstuna
Brush: Paladin Chief Briar 26mm
Soap: Suavecito Whiskey Bar
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave 1: Duke Cannon Cooling After-Shave Balm
After Shave 2: Suavecito Whiskey Bar Aftershave
Cologne: Cremo Bourbon & Oak EdT

I decided to use the Suavecitio Whiskey Bar Shave Soap for today's shave. Using the SV method I bloomed the soap while I showered. The Paladin loaded the soap easily, the lathering was easy. The scent of this soap on the puck is a good 2 of 5. From Suavectio website: Prominent note of whiskey, cedarwood, lavender, jasmine and patchouli for a refreshing and masculine scent. That is pretty much what I get. Unfortunately that is where the performance starts falling off. Once lathered the scent is almost undetectable. The lather is of average slickness at best, glide/cushion is no better, stability was lacking. I had to go back to the puck several times. Residual slickness is minimal. I added more water till the lather broke down, but never did improve on the performance.

I had taken the Klas back to the Trans Ark for a touch up with the Dan's honing oil an mineral spirits, just to see if I could improve the edge any. It seem much smoother for sure, so that was a success. The lather provided just enough protection for the normal 3½ passes. One slight weeper and some alum sting. But a BBS shave none the less.

I rubbed on a little of the Duke Cannon After-Shave just to head off any razor burn. I followed that with the Whiskey Bar Aftershave. A nice finish my face feels great with no signs of razor burn. A few vasilis of the Cremo Bourbon & Oak EdT. A very nice pairing.

1st Lather Suavecito Whiskey Bar Shaving Soap

Great job with the Trans Ark. I wish the soap had performed better for you.

Nice shave all around.

Aww come on guys, food has been genetically engineered forever. Super strains of grains, disease resistant corn etc. That stuff isn’t found in nature.
