Nice shaves.

The Van Yulay doesn't really interest me, but I do need to pick up some MdC.

Thanks Doug!
I do recommend it. Expensive, but I think it was worth it.

Great couple of shaves Craig! MdC is an awesome soap, if it doesn't dry you out. It almost self-lathers!

Thanks Josh!
It didn't dry out my skin at all.

It's a great fougere for sure!

Good stuff Craig!! Haven’t tried the MdC at all but when I do I think Fougere will be my fist on the list.

Thanks TJ!
Supposedly it is a limited edition, so you should get some before it's gone.
They say on their website that is a "Le Savon à raser en Edition Limitée Fougère", which google translates to: "Shaving Soap in Limited Edition Fern".

nice photos and reads Craig and the SV Brush.... Well the best of the best Good Stuff!

Nice shave and pic! I've been using a passive humidifier and am now considering an active one. any pointers?

Thanks Rich. You mean for a humidor?

Yeah the one I use for my Aristocrat Mini is this:

If I ever bring my desktop humidor back online I'll probably go with this:

There are others, but I know the top one works and I've researched the Cigar Oasis one.

Straight Razor Shave #153

Pre Shave: Bull Dog Original Face Wash
Razor: Klas Tornblom Eskilstuna
Brush: Simpson Commodore X3 in Best Badger
Soap: RazoRock Tuscan Oud
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave 1: RazoRock Tuscan Oud After Shaving Splash
After Shave 2: L'Oreal Men Expert After Shave Balm Comfort Max

I was inspired to take the Klas back to the Translucent Arkansas for a touch up. Thinking that maybe some of the irritation from the last shave could be due to the edge. I did a lot of laps! Never really got it to stick, but it was undercutting the oil nicely. Now for the ultimate test.

The Simpson whipped up a great lather in no time, this soap loads quickly using the SV method. After a 15 second load I had enough lather for 3 shaves. I do like the scent of the soap. It's most definitely Oud, but with a sweeter scent that they say is due to the tobacco flower scent in it.

The edge on the Klas was noticeably smoother and still mowed down the 2 day growth like a red hot knife through butter. So I'm calling this touch up a win. Hmmm maybe I need to test out a different honing oil? Or dilute the one I have? Hmmmm....

3½ passes yielded a BBS. No nicks and just one slight weeper on the lower right neck. Some alum sting on the neck, but nothing like Saturday's. A splash of the ASL and some L'Oreal ASB on the neck, just to be safe.

Nice shave yesterday. Not sure how I missed it. Tuscan Oud is one of my favorites!
