Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Watching the shave video right now Dave! I have been super busy at work and so I am behind on the videos and the journals. But oh boy! this one is going to be entertaining!

Great stuff, Dave! I've missed out on a lot. A hot pepper challenge...hmm...we've got a habanero plant in the garden at the center...

Date: Friday September 14th

Razor: Parker Variant Setting 2.5
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Brush: Paladin 26mm Lotus Lime
Soap:Stirling Orange Chill
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Skin Bracer

Worked later last night to have today off. Yard work today and truck was dropped off for new front rotors and a brake job. Time for a nice relaxing shave. The new Paladin whipped up a nice lather from Stirling on my face. Orange Chill was one of my first soaps from them and love the scent as well as the cooling. Used the Parker Variant on 2.5 and got a nice shave. Comfortable shave but requires cleanup that leads to not rawness but mini weepers. Will try it on 2 and see if the repetitive coverage is more acceptable to the skin as it is with the Rockwell to get the reduction I seek. Topped off with the Humphrey's and Skin Bracer.

Hoping Jim and TJ are safe with the storm as well as any others in the path. Expecting the rain from it here
by Sunday evening. I'll be playing on here off and on today between projects at the house. Hope all in the Cadre have a resplendent day !!

Good stuff Dave. I was so close to calling in today. I have 15 days of vacation to use before the year ends. But I hung on to it, because flu/cold season is right around the corner and I am sure I will need a day here or there to stay home with one of the kiddos.

Your a good dad Chad !! I couldn't keep the schedule you do although did similar in the past......

I'm surprised to hear that 2 1/2 might be a touch too high for you. I figured you for a 3 1/2-4 kinda guy.

Nice comfortable shave! I am off today also and finishing up my coffee. I have errands to run, but will start the day with a shave.

Date: Saturday September 15th

Razor: Parker Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Brush: Paladin Chief 26mm Harlequin
Soap: CBL Russian Tea
Aftershave : Speick
Cologne: Avon Spicy

Last shave with the Russian Tea I think I felt a little stinging and thought it might be the soap but I am not giving up that easy as I love the scent. Scooped enough to lather for the shave and felt a slight hint of it but not like the other shave so jury is out and I'm optimistic. Nice shave with the 6c and #8 for Speickt
ember Shaves as I used the AS and topped of with another sample from KJ of the Spicy which I do have a bottle of and enjoy. Glad all of the Cadre weathered the storm well and hope others get the relief they need. Have a great day and weekend Cadre !!

Thanks Guys and yes, I'm hoping for the best also as I love the scent. Don't know why I'm having this reaction to some lately, but onward and shaveward.

Date: Sunday September 16th

Razor: Parker Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3)
Brush: Eric Sorrentino Cadre Member Brush
Soap: Speick Soap Stick
Aftershave : Speick
Cologne: Avon Wild Country

Speicktember number 9 in the books. Yes Chris (GearNoir) I'm using my push pop soap again. Should have saved the box for pics I guess. To me a stick
isn't as convenient to use but this stuff gives a very slick lather for sure with a light to neutral scent. Pleasant shave with it and glad this event introduced me to it but I'm glad I'm down to 1 more to fulfill the commitment and can mix up variety again. This will be used but when the mood moves me rather then the month ? My Timeless should be home tomorrow I'm told so I'm looking forward to trying the scalloped plate. It was shipped to a member that had the razor at the time so I haven't had a chance to try it and compare to the OC myself yet. Topped things off with the Speick AS and another KJ sent Avon sample, this time Wild Country. I'm told it is a clone of Clubman. To me it seems similar but not the same but what do I know. I do like it after applying and negative thoughts towards it probably came from my youth and that it is so readily available. It definitely is a nice scent to me though and again, Thanks KJ. Heading to Mt Vernon KY for services this morning and hope all in the Cadre have a great wrap up to their weekend !!
