Anything that can go wrong... Will happen while I'm Shaving

Too bad about the Tech, I guess, I mean if there was ever a razor NOT to be upset about not liking, that's it. (Though I like Techs quite a bit personally, which is also good, because they are cheap!)

But man, that Henson is new to me and what a price for the AL version, going to keep my eyes open on it.

And now back to distracting the Russian judge!

Shaved this evening with the Slim in honor of the first Gillette DE razor (I think). I honestly think I found my razor in the Henson. The Slim was just disappointing. To be fair, I only use it once a year to honor a friend's birthday.
Still, it didn't come close to my Henson.

Once I try the Ti, I'll know if that's it for good or if I need to sell it and grab some backup Aluminum razors. Either way, I'm happy with the Henson. [emoji106]

Initial thoughts, probably no formal review ( not many care what I have to say anyway haha)...
I’d say it’s 50-75% heavier than Al. Significant, but not compared to SS, bronze, brass, etc. however.... it’s pretty top heavy, but that’s good - we were taught early on to let the razor work for us. I found myself pushing down a tad on the Al, which was ok, since it is so light. This feels more natural to most of us seasoned shavers. If I had to rate my Al shaves, I’d say they are 90% (A-) BBS always, effortlessly. Now I know I have one shave in on the Ti ( I personally hate 1 x use reviews) but I can predict this to be be a 95% BBS shaver.... worth $200 over the $50 Al? Not necessarily. BUT, if the Henson works as well for you and I, then yes, it’s a GREAT, high end, addition to the shave den. Looking forward to Henson’s in additional materials (SS, bronze, brass I’m looking at you!)

Wonderful.

So it's the same design, right. Just heavier (I'm picturing like a DE89, not like a SS razor).

Another important point... The materials longevity. In my discussion with Henson's I'm told you can typically expect 20-30 years from a good aluminum razor that's well kept. Titanium is going to be like Stainless in life, no? Measure that in lifetimes, not decades. [emoji106]

Same design , spot on. From what I’ve read, Ti is much more durable than Al, so yea, lifetime razor IMO, like SS. I think you’ll like it 👍

This evening I got to use a new soap, Mick's Tomas. This is a fairly hard soap, possibly inline with CBL Tonsorial. It was a good performing soap, albeit not the best I've used. Still for my first outing with it, I was quite happy. It was slick enough, and with the help of my trusty Henson, I easily found a happy DFS+.

The scent was great, and a lot less reminiscent of Victory now that it's been open for a while and got lathered. It's fairly basic, but wonderful just the same with a tobacco base, surrounded by copious amounts of sweet vanilla and a fair bit of spices to liven it up. I'd gladly use it any time of year. I definitely do not regret this at $6 (but would have to think twice at the normal $18 tag).

PRE: Stirling Glacial Bar Soap
SOAP: Mick's Proper Shave Tullamore Tomas
RZR: Henson AL13 - Medium
BLD: Gillette Nacet (#4)
POST: Stirling Glacial Post Shave Balm

[emoji294][emoji294][emoji294][emoji294]½ (4.5/5)

Decided to take the Mick's soap for another run. Figure I might as well enjoy the scent once more while I solidify an opinion.

It's a good soap, loads well, and is close to the CBL Tonsorial in physical consistency. It is slick enough, and pretty protective, but it won't win any awards. It's definitely middle of the road, perhaps a tick below the likes of Stirling in performance (except Mick's feels better post-shave, to me).

I played with water content between passes and I find there is a narrow 'sweet spot' before it falls apart. Still, the scent is divine on this one, and at 5oz will take me until the end of time based on my soap cache.

Additionally, I've completely lost the connection to Victory, and I think back wondering what I was thinking. That said, this soaps scent is awesome. A sweet gourmand vanilla/spice/tobacco. Mmmmm! It could be a top 5 scent for me.

As usual, the Henson knocked it out of the park. The Nacet was on its last shave, and I could tell by the extra cleanup work. Still, I crossed the finish line at 'DFS+ boulevard' and am very satisfied. [emoji41]

Nice shave Paul! The scent of soaps certainly have a large factor in whether I hang on to them or not, performance aside!

Has the Henson Ti landed yet? Curious on your thoughts [emoji106]
Nope, still waiting for the shipping notice. [emoji3525]

I believe this is the last week they expect, with the Covid delays. Hopefully I'll get notice soon. How long was yours from notice to arrival... Standard 7-10 days?

I'm just hoping it arrives by Christmas. [emoji318]

Apparently Micks is having a sale on all their remaining stock. 5oz soap was $11.20 shipped! The ingredients look like it would be a decent soap. Have been trying to slow down as my "den" is turning into a Museum lol but decided to give this artisan a shot and see how it goes.

Awesome. It's a great deal for the price. Not sure id pay full, with shipping and all... But $11 is awesome.

I think it was about 7-10 days yes. Even though they are not too far away, that darn customs holds everything up!

It's close, very close. I have a 50-50 shot of seeing it for Xmas, if it ships earlier this week, I think. Otherwise, it'll likely have an epiphany gift for "little xmas" (to me, from me, lol).
