Hi Chad

I don’t know why but it’s not working for me.
here’s a screen shot and it says on the bottom “ You have insufficient privileges to post threads here. So not sure if I’m doing something wrong or it’s something else.
Thank you!

NEWS FLASH! 😊

So I just got this in the mail like 2 minutes ago. A customer of mine messaged me last week and asked if he could exchange a backup puck of Dragonsbeard Shave Soap for the new Lavender as he knows there will be a beta version coming out in the next couple of months and he has plenty of the original soap left in the puck he's using so of course I said yes. So the short story is I now have one last puck in house if anyone wants it. pm me if you do.

Thanks guys!

Question for the members.

So here's the question. I was thinking about this as I've been in the labs working on a Lavender CBD balm and Lip balm for the CBD company and they wanted menthol in the Lavender so it got me thinking.

1. Would you like it if I were to offer to add Menthol into a Skin Food Splash when requested?
2. Would you like a synthetic cooling agent and menthol mix? Or just one or the other?
3. Would you like if I make a cooling agent in a bottle that you can add to your shave soap lather or your Aftershave ( Skin Food Splash if it's mine ) ?

One of the reasons this came to me is I was thinking about the Pure collection Skin Food Splash which is unscented and I thought I'd like to use that myself and I'd like some cooling to it sometimes but not all the time. So once again I've got myself going back and forth on this subject so I'd really appreciate some input from you.

Just so you know Menthol will over a period of time effect the scent of a soap especially if the scent is natural but it will do it to Fragrance oils as well. Synthetic cooling agents don't really affect the scent to much at all but they do have some issues such as when you use them and don't wash your hands thoroughly afterwards if you rub your eyes or touch a child or put a piece of food in your mouth with your fingers it will have a cooling and sometimes a freezing almost numbing effect and in the case of getting it in your eyes well it's not fun as it happened to me once. One guy I know used an aftershave with a very high amount of a synthetic cooling agent in it and didn't wash his hands afterwards and took a pe* and I guess you can use your imagination on that one but he described it as a very disturbing experience! 🤪 Sorry but I find that story very funny even though I felt bad for him because I know what I went through when I got it in my eye so can't imagine that. LOL So lots of things to consider. So guys let me hear some thoughts on this subject. After all I'm making products for you and I like to hear feedback, input and suggestions.

Options are always great if they are feasible to offer.

I personally love a good menthol blast on occasion and from my experience with CBL Iron Throne, a mix of menthol and synthetic cooling can be pretty amazing. I think if you came up with a mix you like and were going to have a large quantity on hand for adding upon request, you might as well have it available stand alone as well.

So you think I should add it upon request from a customer or should I bottle it in small bottle for purchase so people can add their own? I think Stirling does that and it's not expensive to make a souloutin like that or do both?

Well that seems pretty interesting Frank. Personally I would not want an ingredient in a soap or SFS if it affects the scent. Especially with all of the high quality ingredients you put in your soaps. Secondly, Stirling is one of the companies that comes to mind with this topic. They have soaps that they intend to have a cooling agent in and they have soaps that they did not, but they sell the cooling agent in a separate bottle so that customers could add it to any soap they would like. I think this method keeps both types of customers happy and it doesn't alienate one customer base

Yeah, i think they actually do both which in my mind, you might as well if you were going to do one since some people might not want the mix itself but would like the cooling added, and the other way around as well.

Well that was my concern is if I add it to the Skin Food splash right from the get go then over time it may affect the scent if the product doesn't sell out fast. With that said the if I offered a small bottle of a pre mix of both synthetic and Menthol people can add some to a shave soap by putting a few drops in a shave bowl and mixing it up into the lather. In the skin food splash you could even add one drop or two into your hand before adding the SFS and it would not be in the SFS to mess with the scent. I'm liking this idea better. I will be making a shave soap and SFS that does purposely have a cooling agent in it as part of the scent profile like Peppermint oil for example which naturally has 30% menthol in it.

Yep the more I think about it I'd probably advise customers on certain scents that by adding the cooling agent upon request to the SFS it may affect the scent over time because for example I'd never advise anyone to add a cooling agent to the special edition Mysore Sandalwood SFS as that scent is way too precious to ruin with a cooling agent.

That sounds great! I really enjoy CBL Iron Throne, and I think a cooling agent in your unscented would be nice. There are just some scents (Dragonsbeard) I would not want a cooling agent especially if it affected the scent.

Definitely separate I have several Stirling AS that have menthol but when I’m not in the mood for it I can’t use that AS. I am really loving the unscented sample of skin food you had me try. Works fantastic and I can add a scented AS once the skin food dries if I want it

I think I’ll make a cooling blend that people can add to their Shave soap or Aftershave only I’m going to go down a different path as far as the ingredients I’ll use.

Is it truly Unscented?

Is it truly Unscented?

If you mean the Skin Food Splash from the Pure Collection then yes. Any product that comes out in that collection will be without and scent put in it. Matching Shave soap is about 2 weeks away and I plan on a post shave serum following shortly after that. I will say that in the case of the post shave serum that the natural oils have their own scent like for example Red Raspberry seed oil would have a slight fruity scent on its own but of course when it’s blended in with other oils/ingredients it may not be very noticeable but no Essential oils or FRagrance oils will be added. So I’m a way you could say it has its own natural scent so you’d have to put a scent neutralizer in just about anything that’s natural as they’d have their own slight scent to them I suppose but it’s a chemical similar to a fragrance oil so then I’d say yes there would be absolutely nothing to smell if you put your nose to it but then that’s because of a synthetic ingredient which is used in odor eliminating room sprays. Fragrance oils are what many people have allergic reactions to but they can also be allergic to some essential oils as well but not as often if I were comparing the two. Of course a person can be allergic to any ingredient within an Unscented or scented product.

So I think the best way for me to say it simply when describing a product within the Pure Collection is no essential oil or fragrance oil or any type of scent is added to any products in the Pure Collection.

Hope that explains things my friend and thanks for asking a great question that I’m sure others would like to know as well.

Regards 😊👍🏼

Frank
