Finally finished Parks and Rec this morning. It was ok.
My son loved that show. I did too, but in smaller doses than him. Lol, I'll bet I haven't seen 15 episodes in total. But A LOT of the Kollege ages folks in our church loved it.

When we taught that age group I always told them it was because their brains hadn't fully developed!

Always amazes me the smack I can talk to young folks. I think they look at me like the Beatles looked at their goofy Wise Man they followed for awhile.

Watch out! I'ma gonna start a cult Baby!!!

Latest series for me has been Hunters. Very characteristic of Jordan Peele pieces. Some very deep issues and commentary mixed with a ton of dark sarcasm and jarring content. A number of great moments interspersed throughout the series so far, but it’s hard to say that it’s something I’m enjoying.

Also watched The Boys. Some good comic storyline content mixed with a lot of gratuitous fluff. The season 1 finale has me wanting to see more. Thank goodness for the ability to fast forward streaming content though...

I'm watching Thunderbirds, an action adventure show from the 60s. Live action with marionettes. Very strange.

You know...I completely forgot about that show. When you mentioned it I looked it up. I remember watching it in some capacity (likely re-runs) as a kid. Now the only thing I can think of is the movie Team America.

We started Yellowstone last night. Two episodes in and I can tell I'm gonna like this one

So almost done with the second season of Yellowstone. Seriously stop whatever you are watching and WATCH this show.

Okay...so from time to time I will put something on that I have really no intention of watching. I just kind of want to see what it is and maybe have some background noise. So I put on "World's Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji." It's hosted by Bear Grylls, who I am not always a fan of...but liked him in this. Okay...seriously...this show rocked! Yes, it's about adventure racing and an Eco-Challenge. But this show did a really good job at showing that the participants are just ordinary people. They had a team whose youngest member was 62 years old! Talking about feeling a bit lazy. Another team had a guy who was suffering from Alzheimer's. Another team was a group of mothers from Brazil. A Spanish woman who was a firefighter and business woman. A guy on one of the US teams had sever heat exhaustion on day one and his team did everything they could to carry him along. People got injured all the time...and oh yeah...some of the most amazing scenery I have seen. Seriously though...this show was much more than just a race...it was a show about the human spirit.

World's Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji

it's on Amazon Prime

This bums me out. Altered Carbon is a really great show.

I didn’t find it too complicated at all, I would doubt most sci-fi fans would either. I enjoyed the premise and basic story arc. I love the Blade Runner-esque feel/vibe.

The only thing I didn’t like were the sexed up bits and, as usual for those kinds of things, felt it didn’t really add any additional value or importance to a scene.

I saw this too. Altered Carbon was one of the best Sci-Fi shows EVER! REALLY enjoyed the first season and the second season was almost as good (Though I really liked Joel Kinnaman better than Anthony Mackie...but both were good). Oh yeah...and way to go Netflix for leaving sort of a cliff hanger. I can only hope that someone else picks the show up...but not likely. Netflix contracts usually contain something that keeps others from producing subsequent seasons for years.

Ok, this is probably pretty obscure, but I've been (re)watching a series on Amazon called Thunderbirds, which I first was fascinated by as a kid. It's a sci-fi adventure show, for kids mainly I guess, and... wait for it... it's a puppet show. Marionettes more precisely. It features super-elaborate sets, rocket ships, explosions, and a futuristic family of do-gooders that rocket around the world as an organization called "International Rescue." For me, it's purely an exercise in nostalgia, but if some others of you may remember it from your youth (It dates from 1964, British), and I encountered it in the early 70s, I just wanted to mention it as being available on Amazon Prime Video. They also have a 2-hour documentary on "Supermarionation" which was the technique of combining marionettes with crude robotics to produce the mesmerizing result that is, "Thunderbirds."

I just finished watching Tales from the Loop on Amazon Prime. It is a high quality, very high production value work of cinema. I am really tempted to call this Art House SciFi. The show is beautiful and dramatic. It speaks about the human condition and the impact of technology. It is amazingly well done.

But...

The series is also heartbreakingly tragic in several of its stories. It was amazing to watch it, but I may not give it a second viewing. It is really heavy. I am very glad that I watched it. All SciFi should be this well written and produced. I just wish it were a little more positive.
