TV Shows

Watching "The Vow" on HBO right now. It's about a sex cult (sort of) that caught up some people in the entertainment business. It follows a group called NXIVM (pronounced Nexium like the OTC PPI). Episodes are being released weekly and I think it is through episode four. But man I am hooked! My wife actually followed this group when they were in the news years ago so she knows a good bit about it. For some reason, I guess I missed it. If documentaries or docuseries are your thing...I think most will find this interesting!
About 25 years ago, my wife's college roomates mother tried to get us to join a multi-level marketing scheme called, "Consumer's Buyline," which was founded and led by Keith Raniere. She (the roomates mother) touted Raniere as a genius who had set up this system, which was basically Amway on steroids. She went on and on about how this guy was a visionary who had figured out a business model that promised effortless income from a cultivated army of downline members, but I was familiar with the unrealistic prospects of a multi-level marketing scheme. We politely declined, but the Raniere guy stuck in my mind. I was very surprised, all these years later, to discover that he was the leader of the NXIVM cult. I think my college friend's mother eventually dropped out of Consumers Buyline, long before the Advent of the cult.

I just got a free year of Hulu. What's good on there? (even if I hated Napoleon Dynamite)

we haven't really gotten into much of the original content but they have a huge library. we just pick a category and and scroll through for a bit before deciding on something

My wife and I were so disappointed when we found out this didn’t get renewed for another season. I loved the Eric Bemis character!

I just recently started watching Black Sails, so far it’s pretty good. I mean, you can’t really go wrong with pirates right?!?
NetFlix kills so many great shows after 2 or three seasons.

Took a while but I got through The Americans. Overall a really crazy but really great series. For the most part I felt they did a superb job developing the main characters and story arc.

If you haven't tried it yet check out prime wire.li . Its a streaming site that's free.. You can watch everything from Disney + to Netflix or cbs all access or whatever for free !! Great little site, it has tv and movies are also available....

If you liked Napoleon Dynomite and you have HULU, check out Letterkenny. It is NOT kid friendly though.
Letterkenny s my goto when I want to watch something that I don't have to pay a ton of attention to. It can be really hilarious from time to time.

I am a HUGE fan of the Castle Rock series on Hulu. It's in the Stephen King universe and has some backstory for a couple of his iconic characters. Well produced and really good story lines.

I really liked "The Great" also. Kind of a historical comedy that isn't all that accurate...but a good watch nonetheless.

A lot of people like "The Handmaid's Tale." I watched the first couple of seasons...but man that show gets really depressing. I like Dystopian realities and all...but I found that story just wore on me.

Hulu has this "Into the Dark" Series also. They are movies that are in the thriller/horror genre (though I think they are less horror and more just spooky). Some of these are really good...and others are not so muuch.

Honestly, I use Hulu for most of my live streaming (Hulu+). I find it almost as good (and in some ways better) than cable.

Just binged all three seasons of Santa Clarita Diet, Drew Barrymore in a horror comedy .
That was a GREAT show!

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed also. I think Netflix has screwed the pooch on some of their cancellations...this is one of them.

Black Sails is a completely underrated show in my opinion. First season was pretty good and second was better. By the Third season I was all in. and when the show came to it's end...I felt like I was saying goodbye to a good friend. There is rumor that there might be a spin-off show/movie that will basically be Treasure Island. I so hope that happens!

I watched the first couple of seasons when it first came out and I was really impressed. Not sure why I stopped watching.

I just checked this one out on your recco. Some incredible one liners!

Is there any plot as the seasons go on, or just more weirdness?

There is some, nothing deep but some. you do end up with several running gags that evolve over time though.

Helena have been watching The Minions of Midas, really good show, if you are ok with subtitles or know Spanish.
