Jul.28 ASD2/Personna(7) ............... EJ synth ............... Captains Choice Venture ...... Captains Choice Venture balm

Normally, we would have been leaving on our road trip tomorrow and I had forecast my Captains Choice Venture soap to be finished before then. My guess was close enough, as there is probably, maybe, just possibly, enough soap remaining for my standard 2-pass NS-SN shave tomorrow morning. There seems to be more than enough of the balm left to last a week or so.

Jul.29 ASD2/Personna(8) ............... Paladin Sumo ....... Captains Choice Venture ...... Captains Choice Venture balm

Switched over to my Paladin this morning to deliver the coup de grace to the Venture soap and it did so with ease, providing a great lather and wonderful shave. I will continue my Captain's Choice journey by moving on to my last soap of his, the cherry power-bomb 45th Parallel, starting tomorrow.

Jul.30 Progress@3/Personna(1) ..... Omega boar ..... Captains Choice 45th Parallel ... Captains Choice Venture balm

Lots of stuff switched up for the shave today:
- different razor (Progress instead of ASD2)
- new blade (still Personna)
- different brush (Omega boar, Sue edition)
- new soap (CC's 45th Parallel now that the Venture is done)

BUT...

There's still some Venture balm left to get through.

There is definitely a difference between the Progress and the ASD2. In addition to being MUCH louder, the razor is more adept at finding slight bumps on my neck and decapitating them. In act, I had to bring out the styptic pencil for the first time in a long time for one little budding pimple that had its lifespan cut short.

Other than that, all is well.

Jul.31 Slim@5/Personna(2) ........... Omega boar ..... Captains Choice 45th Parallel ... Captains Choice Venture balm

July is in the books and saw 31 shaves, all DE, with nary a missed day but also no 2-a-days.

Switched over to the Slim this morning and what a nice and easy peasy shave. I had forgotten how comfortable this razor is to hold and use. My Venture balm's pump stopping dispensing this morning as the product is getting low, so I tipped it upside down to drain into a small container that should suffice through the coming week. I guess it won't be accompanying me on the road trip after all.

I never warmed up to long handled razors. My first DE was an EJ 89, and later on a Slim. They were good razors that performed well, but I prefer a short handle, as I like to cup my hand around it.
