Trials of a woodpusher: Adventures in chess, backyard gardening, and maybe whisker chopping

Spending a great deal of time weeding in the backyard this long weekend. 20 mins outside, 40 mins inside and trying to stay hydrated. So many evil things to pull out, my thumb and forefinger are sore on each hand. Tried wearing glover, but then I lose of "feel" of the weed stack and they mostly crack off. Not a fan of the weedpullers that have you standing upright as they take too big a clod of dirt with them.

In the end, steady progress is being made and I will have pulled close to a brown weedbag full by the time the weekend is over. SWMBO is happy with the work I am doing (as she watches shows on her Amazon Firestick :ROFLMAO:) and that's what counts.

Hoping to enjoy some of the Angostura Rum Punch later that she brought back from T&T a few years ago for my 50th. Somehow it has remained unopened.

Anything for SWMBO, Sam. Enjoy your exotic punch and stay cool.

Damn Sam! You have a bona fide green thumb! And for the record...I think raw and pickled beets taste like dirt too. But when you roast them or grill them I think they taste super sweet!

Thank, guys. The wife and I love our fresh homegrown veggies and fruits, but we love to share them almost as much as we love to eat them! Fresh pesto went excellently with our pasta and salmon for supper tonight. Mmmmmm.

In other news, two DE shaves now under my belt with the Red Tip that @dmshaver sent my way along with some blades and a Yaqi Sangria. Thanks, David! Since I haven't used a DE in over a year and a half, I thought relearning with a Red Tip might present some hazards, but all went well. It's still not on par with my Injector ..... yet. Give me another 20-30 shaves and we'll see if my technique fully comes back. The brush will get brought into play starting on Monday.

do you use pine nuts in the pesto? Our indoor garden experiment is producing a solid amount of basil and we were thinking pesto minus the pine nuts so my MIL can eat it.
Normally, yes, but my wife found a recipe that used roasted walnuts, so we tried that one this time. Small difference in flavour (almost not noticeable IMO) as the fresh ground basil, garlic and romano (it has to come from a big block!) make the nut taste take a back seat.

Very nice gear Sam hope the DE technique comes back quickly and hope my SE technique improves just as fast!

In the "Sucker for Punishment" section ......

Since I am in the on sub-par soap #2 in a row after my neary 2 year glorious run with a slab of old stock P.160, I figure that I might as well continue my new streak and target everything in my soap and cream stockpile that falls into the "Get rid of it!" category. I know that many of you would agree with me on the benefit of identifying the products that fall into that evil bucket, but we differ in how best to dispose of them:
- Intelligent Action: dump them, PIF them, use them in the shower
- My Action: use them!

Here is my stock (I have tagged in red what is my "Die Already!" bucket):

Creams
- Nivea
- Palmolive Classic
- Proraso Blue
- Dove Shave Gel, travel size

Soaps
- Arko (5 sticks)
- Art of Shaving Lemon (old formula)
- Barrister and Mann Cologne Russe
- Barrister and Mann Le Grand Chypre
- Barrister and Mann Seville
- Barrister and Mann Sinfonia
- Captain's Choice 45th Parallel
- Captain's Choice Bay Rum
- Captain's Choice Venture
- CBL Black Rose Oud
- CBL Carnation
- CBL Orange Dirt
- CBL Sir Fougere
- CBL Tabacaveg
- Haslinger Aloe Vera
- Honeybee's Bamboo Teak
- Honeybee's Caribbean Coconut
- Honeybee's Oakmoss
- Lisa's Natural Doc Holiday
- Mama Bear Bay Rum
- Mama Bear Lime Cilantro
- Mama Bear Roses
- Mama Bear Ye Olde Barbershoppe
- Martin de Candre
- P.160 Tipo Duro
- Palmolive stick European
- Pitralon
- Saint Charles Shave Fairway
- Saint Charles Shave Sandalwood
- Soapy Bathman Tropical Lime
- Tabac
- Vie-Long shave stick
- Williams (2 pucks)

So, my "hit list" is actually rather short, with a target rotation/attack-plan of:
- Dove Shave Gel, travel size
- Williams puck
- Pitralon
- Williams puck

Anything in my stockpile that you boys would place in the "crap" category?
PS. I love Arko, so that's not a "garbage" option
