The Holy Black Halloween Release

Official release is Friday Night, Oct 5, at midnight.

Still no price yet, but for me that is not an issue. I have to have this set.

I was really considering it for a while. But I’m out. I just spent all my soap money at the CBL store.

Considering that you will be getting 17 fl. oz. of aftershave splash, 100 ml. of EdT, and a good sized puck of soap, $190 isn't totally outrageous. It is still somewhat high. I can get 2x soaps, 2x bottles of AS, and 2x bottles of EdT from Chiseled Face for $130. Considering that the bottles of AS from CFG would be smaller, that seems like a slightly better deal. I understand that part of the $190 is the packaging.

The scents and overall presentation are attractive, but it is still a hard 'no' for me.

I'm out because I did math like Doug did and also computed in that the scents in previous releases didn't have any staying power. I do thank Jim for being willing to help acquire these for those needing help though !

I'm out for the simple fact that I'm not the biggest fan of vetiver...and these are very vetiver forward from the sounds of it.

Based on what I heard from Barber Dave when he got the Tell Tale Heart release, the EdTs actually have quite a bit of longevity to them. And the price is definitely reflecting the artistry and presentation that went into the packaging. I mean, they hand-charred each crate with a torch! That's dedication, if you ask me.

Was referring to aftershaves as I'm not a big Edt guy

Just about any THB limited release is really going to be about if you really want it or not. Value won't be there from an economics approach...but if you want the total experience...then this is your product. I personally am going to pass on this one. But will likely purchase again in the future.

We are in this for the experience. The story, the packaging, the hype, the product a the performance are ALL part of the experience and THB is (has become) very good at creating an experience. Seeing how there is little chance more than one of us would ever actually consume the entire contents of the package you might say it is PURE value. Buy for the experience and you will be happy. Buy expecting high price to translate to stellar qualities and you may be less pleased.

I’m out mostly because I have other areas to focus right now. I love vetiver and am curious to see what they’ve done so if I were in a different place I would be excited to bite at this one.

I would wish them luck but I think they have 10 interested for each 1 available. They will do fine.

Chris always has a way with words and said it way better than I did. Out of all the soaps and aftershaves I have or have tried (and I understand that it's not nearly as many as some around here) there are two makers/artisans that give me an "experience." The first of course is THB. I mean...I think they are the Liberace or the Elton John of the shaving world. They are the complete show! Yeah I understand that the comparison would probably turn the stomachs THB guys and their "hipster" lifestyles. But it is true. With those two artists...you don't just get music...you get a show! An amazing theatrical musical performance. Same with THB. The other maker is less on the theatrics and more of a physical experience. That would be Ariana & Evans. You don't get a fancy packaging with A&E, but you get this overall experience of soap and scent. It's hard to explain. Anyway...just a thought or two.

The release is in two days, and I am getting quite excited. I am still torn as to whether I should buyt a second one, to guarantee someone that misses it can get one, or just one for myself. Based on the latest post, I think there are actual special effects in the box itself, so my excitemen is going through the roof! Lights and music!

...
I will be quick on the trigger for sure, the moment it drops.
