The Heysi Missive

Finished up a week with a mystery soap tryout and here's my review:

Dunnottar by LNHC.

This was gifted to me by @Spider when he was out visiting Vegas for fun and work. Originally I thought this was a poor lather soap (after only one use) but when I went at it this week, I discovered that while it doesn't produce the kind of fluffy, yogurty type of lather I'm used to...it's still super slick and super well performing. I used three different brushes and everytime got lather that lasted throughout the shave and didn't evaporate at all (a common problem here in ultra-dry Las Vegas). The scent is nice (I'm terrible at describing scents...it smells nice to me) and who can complain when the wife also says it smells good.

Been using a technique I'm borrowing from @BarberDave where you brush the lather on in a kind of paint brush manner (watch his videos.... you'll understand). It really has improved the quality of the lather.

Verdict:
This one is a keeper. I'll put it at the top of the list of 3017 candidates.

I’ve used one full tub of an LNHC soap before (not sure which base formula unfortunately, I think she has a few) and have one or two more in the wings somewhere. I found trouble lathering with it at first too.

I found that what really helped me was using a synth, a bit of a heavier loading with a damp (not wet) brush, then lathering up on the face, adding in a LOT of water a little bit at a time, combo of gentle scrubbing and paintbrush to help aerate the lather. It got pretty yogurty if I remember! It just takes a while and a lot of work up.

Another way is to have a small puddle of water atop the puck for a couple minutes, then loading with a damp brush (I use a synth), working the lather in a bowl by adding small amounts of water till it's the right consistency. It's pretty much what I do with MWF.

As someone who used only two soaps (Williams & MWF) until a year ago...I'm very familiar with soaking the puck. I even did a video showing my technique.

Oh, OK. That's how I do it for LNHC Premium base - it's a pretty hard puck. You started with two soaps that are notorious for frustrating new wet shavers! Impressive. (y)

Williams is what my grandfather taught me to shave with. So that's what I started with. The Mitchell's Wool Fat was something I bought after we came back from London. I saw it when I visited a shave shop over there. So my soap choice up until about a year or so ago was completely lucky.

Love the lunar module - it looks so intricate. Amazing that men trusted it to work safely.
Dude, get real!

There is well documented evidence that Tens of Thousands of folks involved in this secretive Hollywood Scam have been so devoutly allied to keep it a secret that the only place this gizmo with less computational power than a $10 watch went to was a secret film studio.

And everyone thinks Area 51 was hiding aliens. Sheest.

😳 🙃 👺 🤪 😎
