The Heysi Missive

Well...it's been a minute since I've posted something in here. Been crazy busy, what with the ransomware attack at work and the people backing out of buying our house....then Christmas happened and that's been 3 days of friends and family and food, food, food (oh, and there was beer in there also).

Really had fun during the Christmas Eve Eve zoom call. My Rudy buddy was @Majorrich and he brought an A-game in the gift department. Anyone that gets him in the future is a lucky person.

Holiday Shave Journal:

Still have a bit of CBL Roasted Oatmeal Stout left in the corners of the tub. I'm not expecting it to make it into the new year...so, new year, new soap.

For 40 years I've been using the same blade, a Gillette Silver Blue.....a few years ago someone sent me a few Wilkinson Swords and I like those so I became a two blade guy...until this morning. One of the gifts I got in the Rudy exchange was a whole bunch of Astra Platinum blades. Such a nice, smooth blade and now I'm a three blade guy. Considering that I have about 95 GSB's, about 95 Wilkis and now 100 Astra's.....and I get 40-60 shaves per blade.....I may not need any other blades until sometime in the 2040's.

Well...here we are. Last work day of 2022....and I still have no computer at work. Seems I was one of only 8 people that had their computer turned on while the ransomware virus was active, so my computer was "lightly" affected. The good news is that the owners son was the one that let the virus in so no one is getting fired or yelled at. The bad news is that the IT guy is going to limit internet usage so much that it will seem like I'm using a dial up modem again. Oh well.

Here's to the end of this (not so great) year and let's get 2023 off to a better start.

...yes I'm making a @BarberDave of myself and haven't shaved in 2 days (or is it 3?...I've lost count). Looking forward to a nice, relaxing shave tomorrow.

It finally happened!!

The CBL Roasted Oatmeal Stout finally ran out. It has been a great shave soap and it has convinced me to be a CBL customer for life. Every shave was wonderful and enjoyable. @CBLindsay , you make great stuff. Cheers.

So now I have to figure out what soap to use next. Between @Spider bringing me a huge bag of goodies last year and the occasional mail drop from other equally generous cadre brothers.....I have plenty of soap to choose from.

So I thought I should try a few...using each for a few days to see which one I want to stick with until it's eventually finished (sort of like a test drive before I go all in).

Here's what I choose as possibilities....

...yes, I'm purposely not showing the labels so I don't get any outside influence on my decision (I know how you all love to add your two cents).

The first soap was one I used once before and enjoyed the scent but don't recall getting great lather from. Well, this morning I used the Green Goblin (the Paladin synth @Spider gifted to me) and I worked up a very fine lather. So my previous issue with the soap was a bad memory. I'll continue to use the soap for a few days and give a full review. And we'll continue through the whole stack. That should keep me busy for a bit.
