So.....
The cruise was relaxing.......and sometimes it wasn't....but a fun time was had by all.....except for the grumpy member of our group....but she never has any fun so we ignore her.
So here's the wife and I out on deck as we sailed out of San Pedro...
....first night was fantastic...
Had a Mai Tai at the Bamboo Room on the ship....
....then found out that the computer system was screwed up and was double charging me for drinks.....so I had to unleash ANGRY WIFE
on Guest Services and get that all straightened out.
Our first stop was in Cabo...
....our captain snib-dogged the other cruise ships that were in port that day and drove right past them all and parked right near the marina. He even came on the ship-wide speakers and told us that instead of dropping anchor, he'd keep the motor running and we'd be able to hold that spot all day. Royal Caribbean ships use an Azipod system that allows the captain to keep the ship in one position and not drift around the anchor in a big circle as the tide and currents push and pull on the ship. So by holding steady in front of the marina, our tender trip to the dock was only about 4 or 5 minutes instead of 15-20 for the other rabble in the bay.....
Oh...here's the other rabble...
(sorry
@NurseDave )
....now, last time we were in Cabo, we all decided to take a water taxi from the marina over to the beach hotels so we could sit under an umbrella and drink beer on the beach.....but no one told us we would have to jump off the front of the water taxi into the surf like we were storming the Normandy coast....walking around Cabo in wet shoes is no fun so I vetoed the idea before we even got off the ship....until someone in our group decided that we would save time if we took the water taxi!!!!!......I told them that I thought it was going to end up the same as last time but they wanted to try it again. This time I took my shoes off and timed my jump perfectly so I barely got my feet wet. Other members of our group (who were the ones insisting we take the water taxi) ended up waist deep in water and soaked for the rest of the day. Cabo - 1, Steven - 1.
Here's how close the captain parked to the Arch...
Excuse me while I sit right here and have another beer in Mexico....
Mazatlan was so hot (91 degrees F) and so humid (96%) that we didn't do anything but stop at the port terminal and visit the few shops they have there. The wife had a field day buying gifts for christmas....I drank a different beer than the one pictured above.....and then two more.
Puerto Vallarta is my favorite of the stops on this cruise and we headed into town to visit our favorite restaurant there, The Blue Shrimp. Last time we were down there it was in town near the church....now they have a beach front spot and the food and the view are now both to die for.
Back on the ship, the wife wanted to look at the shops on board and we were stunned by this one watch....
...that thing is nearly 3 inches in diameter!!!! No way I'm wearing something like that.
Anyway....the cruise was terrific and most of our group had a fun time (wet shorts not withstanding)....plus, with the free drinks that they gave us each day for being Diamond members, our tab at the end of the cruise was only $135!!! (someone else in our group had a $1600 bar tab...it pays to be Diamond!)
Finally, on saturday, we stopped on the way home and had lunch with my ex-girlfriend. It was a bit surreal having my wife and my ex sitting across from me and they were actually getting along really well. They even said we would have to "do this again". So "My Type" is friendly and not jealous.
See ya Later!
