The Heysi Missive

I was less than friendly with the cashier at the gas station. Instead of replying when she said, "have a nice day" I simply grunted. Then I tossed my receipt on the back seat of my car instead of in the trash can. I also didn't signal when I left the parking lot. The cologne has really done something to me. I may stop using punctuation at any moment .
Now that's funny. Yeah, I'd not use that cologne again!

I finally got past my fear of germs that have long since died and used my wife's grandfather's Aristocrat. Where has this amazing razor been my whole life? (oh wait....it was in a box in my garage for the past 30 years). Used it for the past 3 days and it's the smoothest razor I've ever used. Effortless and efficient. Paired with a Gillette Silver Blue, it was as close to what a gentleman in the mid 1950's or early 1960's would have experienced every morning. Of course I was missing the lit cigarette on the edge of the sink and a freshly opened Schlitz beer can (the mid-century man was quite the go-getter).

Now I'm concerned that if I send it to get it re-plated that the smoothness will go away and the razor will be relegated to the occasional-use pile. So far the only razor I've had re-plated was RustBoy and he was beyond usefulness when I purchased him...so re-plating was a rescue mission that succeeded. My fear is that the geometry of this Aristocrat is out of tolerance and that's what's causing the perfection. If I get it re-plated, it could get restored to factory specs and that might ruin the razor. Re-plating would extend the life of the razor. I just need to get over the fear that the razor will be ruined.

Also.......tonight is shaping up to be extra Sportsy in my house...

Buy another one to have plated and keep grandpop’s original.

What could it hurt?

I have a replated '46-7 Aristocrat. The quality of shaves is unchanged since replating. Like you, I find it amazing that Gillette was able to combine such smoothness and comfort with superlative efficiency. If I had to choose one razor to use for the rest of my days, it would be the Aristocrat. (y) (y)

YEAH, sports ball!!
So last night's Sports Ball evening went really well. First my Dodgers took game 1 over the little brother, former minor league team from san diego. Our pitching was top notch last night. Except for a minor hiccup in the 5th inning, it was lights out from the starter and the bullpen. If we keep this up.....10 more wins for the championship.

Tonight we send Kershaw to the mound. Let's Go Dodgers!!!

Then after that game finished up, I switched over to the last 3 minutes of the Golden Knights game. Luckily I have an app on my phone that plays the VGK hockey horn whenever they score a goal (it also boos when the other team scores) so I knew how we were doing during the game. By the time the Dodgers finished up, the score was tied and with 24 seconds left (while LA was trying to kill off the last few seconds and go to overtime) the Golden Knights intercepted a pass and buried the puck in the back of the net. VICTORY!!!!!

Arrived home tonight to a package from our trusty leader (@BarberDave ). Seems he feels I need a lightsaber style shaving brush.....so I present to you, Lord Vader!!!

....I'm also a recipient of some ultra cool BarberDave guitar picks. Perfect for playing those mean licks while you're making your face smooth.....or for scooping out soap. But still cool. Thank you sir, I will summon the force tomorrow morning and defeat my beard.

Last night's sports ball report (™️ @NurseDave ):
the Vegas Golden Knights had their home opener and as always, they didn't disappoint. The new goalie got a shutout and the rookie that lit up the minor league team last year got the only goal of the game. Next week, I'll be going to a game as the wife bought me tickets for my birthday.

This morning's shave was a slight challenge as the humidity is down in the single digits. But I'm the reining TSC Lather Master so I'm not to be defeated. Used the Lord Vader brush which has a nice heavy handle (it looks like it could be part of a light saber handle) and it's a bit longer than any other brush I own. The knot is a really nice, fluffy badger and after my initial load off the remnants of the CBL Hombres puck....I wasn't getting much lather. So I went back to the puck and loaded it like I hated it....and voila......I ended up with more lather than I've had in some time. Just like that, Lord Vader is a keeper.

One of the samples that @GearNoir gifted to me was Aqcua Di Gio, which is rapidly becoming my favorite frag. So now that I have the sample he sent me, I feel I can use it more often...I've been using it sparingly since there's not much left in the sample....now I have a second sample and I've been dropping the wife hints for my birthday and christmas. If she isn't able to get me any, I'll have to go in search myself after the holidays.

See ya Later!

Happy happenstance! I think I’d thrown that sample in the box before I knew you enjoyed the fragrance.

Let’s just say I planned it though 😎👍

Sweet! I think hockey is probably the most exciting sport to watch in person. Though, I have yet to make it to a professional curling game. Or professional cornhole for that matter.
