I got my first pair of checkered Vans....when a certain movie was about to come out. We lived 1/2 mile from the original Vans workshop. It was cool having the shoes for about two weeks...then everyone thought I was trendy. Very mortifying for a 13 year old.
This is exactly why I was mortified.
