The Double Edge Adventures of Somnos...

Those who do not know of the mystic nature of beak jamming exist outside our realm. I'm not entirely sure what that's supposed to mean. Figure it out.
I agree completely...”passing the sniff test” isn’t just about moldy sandwiches in the work fridge...neh, neh! I don’t know to many here who DON’T jam that tub in near the eyeballs!

Well I have been absent from the journal as of late not that I am missing shaves just a bit busy with everything else. Today’s shave was a very needed departure from the hectic pace that his been the everyday here at Villa Somnos. New soap, pre-shave, just some goodness all around.

Today I reached for the Timeless OC .95. SS. Beautiful scalloped top cap just a beautiful razor to use. Hasn’t been used much so today was the day. Loaded up with a new Polsilver IR and ready to go.

RasoZero is a new soap to me and Mrs. Somnos spotted it along with the matching pre-shave. So good it smelt to her she bought all three scents with the matching pre-shave! Tcheon Fung Sing or TFS are fantastic soaps and I have two others I love and use regularly. These new ones are no exception. Agrumella is a wonderful Italian citrus. Strong and a super lathering beast. Pre-shave rubbed on with a bit of water and you have a very slick start. Just a beautiful combo!

So good it was I was not going to waste a single bit of that lather. Three beautiful passes and still more to spare. BBS to say the least and I enjoyed leisurely chasing it. Topped it off with Proraso Green AS, Elvado Mint Lime balm and some Acqua di Parma! Happy Saturday Cadre!

Glad you are liking it Sam it is a fantastic brush! Hey Sam get out to Winner’s and scoop those TFS soaps! They are cheap and fantastic! I have Spearmint, Citrus and Tobacco!

Well I haven’t had a lot of journal posts as of late just a lot going on. I have been inputting everything into the Shaving Buddy app which keeps all my stats etc. So today I decided I would get back to posting. Reached for a favourite of mine today though it comes up in rotation sparingly. The Merkur 45 is considered by most to be a great travel razor due to its light weight and size and I agree wholeheartedly. I love this razor period and it was the third razor I ever owned. It is a smooth shaver that just mows down the beard quite effectively. No weight to it so easy on the pressure but it is quite efficient. Loaded up with a Gillette Rubie.

Soap or Croap of the day was Cella another fav that seems to elude me. It’s a tiny tub hidden behind the mountain of CBL goodness! Thanks @CBLindsay! Love the Cella scent and it really is just a great lathering soap!

Got through a lovely two pass DFS/BBS and topped it off with some AdP CE. Great start to hump day.

Haven’t taken a razor to the face in a few days nothing more than being busy. Needed an OC as a result and I have a few but the Timeless SS OC .95 is about the finest I have. Loaded up with a Polsilver IR and got down to the morning business.

Wanted to get back to trying out the new soaps and the TFS RasoZero Barbacco was the third of the bunch left. Barbershop meets fresh cut tobacco. Lovely stuff. Pre-shave was excellent and so was the soap itself.

Awesome two pass DFS/BBS. Just finished up a Halloween candle so I cleaned it all up and decided to put it to use. It’s a glass skull and though not an original idea, pretty cool. Perfect for soaking the brush!

Christmas Day shave! Gillette Rocket HD just landed and so I decided to throw an Astra SS into it and give it a go. Minty razor and cased to boot. I have a few Brit A’crats, No 16, No 58 and have been waiting to get a good Rocket HD for comparison.

Soap of the day the very wonderful Stirling Sharp Dressed Man. Lovely scent! Lathered up and got through a wonderful and mild three pass BBS shave. Topped it off with Notting Hill EDP which is the match.

Merry Christmas Cadre!

High class Ed!

Notting Hill hm? Every time I am reminded of the movie, where Hugh Grant’s house mate thinks the sour cream is yogurt.

Nice! English Laundry Notting Hill goes for about $20 CDN at Winners. Right in the wheelhouse of Sharp Dressed Man!

Well time to try out some new stuff! The Karve CB has been sitting and waiting to be used so today was the the day. Fortunate to have some SB and OC plates but today, with a few days growth I went for the C SB plate. Loaded up with an Astra SS which are quite good for me.

Today’s cream comes by way of the Boxing Day sales out Niagara way. Have read good reviews but never really pulled the trigger. At 40% off I ran out of excuses and it came home with the matching AS gel! Just a small scoop in my new lather bowl is all that was needed for the Simpson 59 to whip up a ton of lather. I am sure the Spanish artisan that created the beautiful bowl wasn’t thinking some whack job into traditional wet shaving would use it for such a purpose but It has a lovely textured pattern on the inside that works the charm. Oh well deal with it because I bought another as a back up!!

A lovely smooth as you like two pass BBS shave achieved! The Karve is fantastic and with the C plate provided a very close and effortless shave. Great soap, AS, razor...great day!
