The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man

I'll never understand this. Softer water should make lathering easier. MW tweaked their formula a while back because so many people were complaining that they couldn't get it to lather in hard water.
I never got it either. I had hard water with a lot of iron in it when I first started. MW was my first real soap and I was able to lather it before she changed the formula. Then I got a softener and still have no issues. I use boar and badger all the time and a synth for the wife when I make lather for her. (She has her own soap and brush, but can't make her own lather.) I've never had any problems with MW other than figuring out that is seems to have a smaller sweet spot for water than some other soaps.

I was wondering about those cute pics from Colorado.

Man just wait till you're kids graduate from college, mine still seem like they are 10 years old in my head.

My ole stomping ground. I was born in Colorado Springs. Don’t remember it though. I was pretty young when we moved to Denver.

I think my issue with the MW is that with a Boar the water at my house the brush releases water way too quickly into the soap blowing past the water band. I typically only use my badgers or synthetics when the MW is pulled up and love the results.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Exactly. That's why I use my densest synth, or denser badgers with MW.

I still don't get it. If you shake the brush dry after it soaks, then add water a little at a time, how are you blowing past the water band?

Was in a hurry this morning, so I skipped the video. As such I also skipped my SV soap that was on deck. I grabbed a sample of B&M Terror that Ben sent me and lathered it up right quick. Now my lather was super airy and not great, but like I said I lathered it up quick. I was in a hurry, and dug some of the sample out, and likely did not have enough product.

It's been a while since it was brought up, so I forgot what was in it, except that it has frankensence in it. Right off the bat, my skin stated to tingle, I thought I was having a reaction to the soap. It was an odd sensation that I've never felt before, but my skin has only ever reacted to two soaps before. By the end of my first pass, I realized that it was getting slightly cold, and realized it must have a cooling agent in it. I felt it was realtively weakly cooled compared to other soaps like CBL.

When I got to work I looked it up on their site. I see no cooling agents lited in their ingredients, so I"m not sure what they are using. The scent is frankensence and peppermint, which I sort of get. But their description says this: "have incorporated our custom blend of cooling agents to bring an insidious, endless chill to the experience. Tearless and stingless, unlike its mentholated cousin Arctique, Terror is a ghastly revelation, a glimpse into abyss."

Stingless, huh? That the first thing I noticed. a distinct stinging. But not a stinging, like it was too cold. Also, it was not nearly as cold as they were describing it to be. I'm not a fan of frankensence, but it didn't bother me too much. I wouldn't buy it, but I'll definitely use the sample a few more times.

I'm glad you didn't hate it. I think Will mentioned using WS-23 and a couple of other synthetic cooling agents. Definitely agree that it's not nearly as cold as advertised.

I never knew soap had cooling agents. Learn something new every day here.
Soaps with menthol added have been around forever. Some artisans call them Iced, others call them chilled, and I'm sure there are other names too. A few artisans give you the option of adding menthol to any soap they make. QCS Vostok was well known as being a face freezer! Yeti Snot as well.

The Creeper line from THB was the first (that I'm aware of) to use synthetic cooling agents. These have the added bonus of not only being cool, but the also don't impart any of the menthol scent to the scent of the soap. CBL's ghost line also uses synthetic cooling agents, and Chris has experimented with a couple different ones.

Oh, I get it now. I don't really like to cool down my face in the morning, so typically I avoid menthol. I do like Skin Bracer, however. Have always loved the smell. My father used it, so that's probably why.

Had an interesting adventure yesterday. I'm part of a Facebook group called "Weird Secondhand Finds That Just Need To Be Shared". It's a community of picture sharing of odd finds that we discover at Antique and Thrift stores. Outside of the Wet Shaving community, this is my other main hang out. These folks are my people!

So the other day, someone posted the following two pictures. They happen to be from an Antique Store that I frequent in my town. I was instantly intrigued.

Wait, what? Let's have a closer look.....
T2.jpg
Huh? WTF is that? Looks to me like a dog head on a doll body... but I don't know, maybe I'm just seeing things. What do you see?

Anyway, these pics yielded lots of comments. Most about the fact that it's super freaky/spooky/scary, and definitely haunted, and how they wouldn't even dare to venture down that ramp for a closer look. The FB group has over 1 Million members, but I was still surprized how many folks chimed in saying they were from here, or at least knew of that particular store. One person even posted a nearly identical picture saying they saw the same thing, and was about to post it themselves!

Anyway, you know me, I love the creepy stuff and I had to see this for myself. I knew exactly where this was in the store, so after work Amber and I headed to the store to check it out. When I got to the top of the ramp, this is what I saw.......

Nothing....... but wait, what's that????

Headed down for a closer look, and found this Doll. Yep, same doll, same clothes as the original pic, but that's not a creepy dog-like head that I saw in the original pic. So, what's up? She doesn't necessarily look creepy. What am I missing? We searched all over for a dog-like mask, thinking that maybe someone put something on top of the doll, but we found nothing.

So, we continued to shop. We found a bunch of interesting things. And I found a few things that just had to come home with me. Including the following:

So, as we are checking out, an a whim I decide to tell the lady about the group, and the pic of the doll and see if there is any story about her. She tell me that that doll moves around "on her own" all the time. I showed her the pic of where I found her, and she said that that's where she belongs, but that's not always where they find her. OK... now I'm really intrigued. She wasn't terribly expensive ($22.50), but I wasn't initially interested because she didn't look that creepy and just looked like a plain doll. Well, this story added to the interest factor enough for me to consider purchasing her (even if it wasn't true). So I asked about the mask.... she said, no there's no mask. That's just her. But I didn't understand why she looked so different..... where was her face? I contemplated this, and decided that I needed to take the chance at least, on this "haunted" doll. So I went back to grab her, and I kinda set her up where she was in the OP's pics to try to figure it out. I was in a hurry because the store was about to close, so I didn't take any pics of this process, but I did figure it out. I'm pretty sure that in the OP's pic, the dolls head was turned around backwards, and we were only seeing her hair, and not her face. (This just added to the creep factor, slightly)

So I brought her up to the register, and they were like, Yep, that's her. We will be glad to see her gone from the store!

After we paid, and were on our way out there door, they once again thanked me, and said they were happy to see "Annabelle" leave the store. Ha! They actually called her Annabelle.

So she is mine now. We'll see if she does anything weird at my house.

And here is what she looks like, with head turned backwards.

So do you agree? Is that what we were seeing the the original pic? You can definitely see the ribbons in the pic, and I think since the pic was taken at a way downward angle the lights/shadows were playing with the curls in her hair. If I had had more time I would have set up that shot and retaken it to compare, but I'm pretty sure that's what was happening.

Anyway, Annabelle has joined some good company at my house......
