The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man

Well, I did not do any of that this weekend.

....And we finished off the day with dinner at Gates BBQ, which is my favorite place for BBQ in KC.... Brisket, Burnt Ends, Pickles and Cole Slaw! Yum!
Oh man, I totally dig Gates BBQ! That and Arthur Bryant's are my favorites in KC.

So, yesterday @DocHoliday0831 made a comment about the fact that Mystic Water will give you a great lather, as long as you don't use a boar brush. Well being a huge fan of MW soaps, and never having any issue lathering it, no matter what brush I use, I decided to set out to make a video showing just how easy it is to get a great lather form MW and a boar brush. See my VLOG form today if you want to check that out.

The Lavender Lime is still one of my favorite scents form MW... only lightly florally and a very crisp, fresh scent. I just dig it. The Semogue brush tackled it like a champ, and had no problems giving me 3 passes of effortless lather. The 34C was great as always, and The Royal Lyme gave me an OK finish. It is a bit harsh, which I'm guessing is because it is higher in alcohol, and doesn't have much in the way (if any) of skin food in it. It is all purpose lotion, so probably a hybrid between AS and cologne. I wasn't planning on it, but since it did sting a bit, I went ahead and applied some CBL Pre-shave on after the Lyme. I actually love the CBL pre- as a post shave.

On a personal note, my girlfriend has been with her family in Colorado since Monday. She drove there and is coming back on Monday (Memorial Day). Since I have Monday off, and had no plans this weekend, I decided to fly over there Saturday Morning, spend the weekend with her and help her drive back on Monday. The trip across Kansas is long and boring. I've done it before and it is definitely no fun when you are in the car by yourself. Definitely helps to have someone to talk to and makes the drive seem to go by quicker. When I initially brought it up to her, she said no, that I should just save my money, that it wasn't worth the trip...... but, I travel a lot for work, as you guys know, so I have a few airline miles saved up and was able to get my ticket basically for free. (Still had to pay the $5.60 post 9/11 tax). Well, that changed everything, and now she's super excited to have me come for a visit. And I can't wait for a weekend getaway in Colorado. No idea exactly what we are doing yet. There's talk of going hiking in Colorado Springs, and maybe doing a Haunted Denver Pub Tour, but beyond that we'll likely just play it all by ear. I like vacations like that anyway. No schedule, no itinerary, just figure it out as you go. Those end up being some of the best trips.

I've got an early flight tomorrow, like 6:30am, but the airport is an hour and a half away, so I have to leave the house by 4am. Luckily, my bag is already packed and I'm ready to go. Just wake up, take a quick shower, get some coffee and out the door.

Also, today is my youngest child's birthday. He turned 14! Can't believe it. The time is just flying by. And now we've entered the few months where my kids ages are sequential. 14, 15 (twins), and 16. Yeah, it's crazy at times, but I'm so glad that they are close in age like that. In the long run, it makes things a lot easier. Tonight we are going to the Chinese Buffet for dinner (his choice), and we'll open presents. Then next weekend he's having a sleepover birthday party and he invited 5 of his friends over. Hopefully it stops raining by then, because the plan is to have an Airsoft war, a bonfire and watch a movie outside (have a nice projector set up). So over the next week, I'll be getting the house ready for that.

Enjoy your holiday weekend Cadre. Hope you have some time off, or at least get to spend some time relaxing with family and friends. And please just take a moment to remember what Memorial day is for: Remembering and honoring people who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Well, with the water at my house, a boar brush will NOT work with Mystic Water soaps either. It's a finicky soap for me at home with our softer water regarding rate/amount of water introduced. Harder water - no problems at all.

I'm with ya on the no schedules on vacations - means no stress.

Have fun over the weekend. Sounds like you've got some nice things planned with the family.

I'll never understand this. Softer water should make lathering easier. MW tweaked their formula a while back because so many people were complaining that they couldn't get it to lather in hard water.

Thank you for that, KJ. It's important to remember.

Enjoy your son's birthday, and your holiday weekend in Colorado.
