Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

Daring man with the Gem! Everyone says that if you can get a handle on those razors, they give some of the best shaves! I haven't mastered it yet and my shaves end up with weepers and a LOT of irritation.

Your property that you are trying to sell...is that the carriage/fire house you have been working on? That thing is darling! And would be a shame if no one can fix it up!

Sorry you’re having trouble with The Money Pit, lol. Hope the evening is going better!

Thanks guys! The Gem is definitely something that’s going to take some practice to master.

Yes Don, the property I’m having a hard time with is that same carriage/fire house I posted the picture of a while ago. It has a lot of potential but really needs a lot of work. I talked my friend last night (his mom owns the house and I’m listing it for her) and he told me not to stress over it. He said they know this is not an easy sell lol.

Shave Time!

Razor:
N-3 Black Handle Super Speed
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium
Brush: Eveready Mystery Badger
Soap: CBL Iron Throne
AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

First spin with the Black Handled SS. A very comfortable shaver, but not the most efficient. Walked away DFS with no irritation so no complaints.

This was also my first use with a Polsilver blade. Not too bad paired with the SS, but maybe not the best match as I felt I should have gotten a closer shave.

Got home from my parents’ house last night and the AC wasn’t running. I called a buddy of mine and he came over to help inspect and trouble shoot. Turned out to be a blown fuse thankfully, but I think it’s time to start budgeting for a replacement unit.

Tonight I have the house to myself as the wife took the stepson to a country concert. I opted not to go since country isn’t really my thing.

Willie World:
Willie, Ozzy, and Lucy are also very thankful the AC is running again! Willie is missing his momma though. He’s been staring out the front door since she left lol.

Shave Time!

Razor:
Razorock HD
Blade: Polsiver
Brush: Kent Silvertip
Soap: Tiki The Captain
AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Getting down to the last of the new to me razors. Today I grabbed the Razorock HD and was pleasantly surprised. It was very similar to the GC in smoothness and not too far behind in efficiency. I believe this is supposed to be a clone of the Merkur 34. I put it through the usual 4 pass routine and walked away...BBS! I was very surprised to get this close with this razor. Mostly because I didn't have any real expectations for it I guess. It is very well balanced with the handle it came with as well (I'm not sure which RR handle it is).

The Tiki The Captain soap is a very nice cherry pipe tobacco scent. It says it also has ozone and molten lava, but I don't really pick those 2 up....I also have no idea what molten lava smells like lol. Overall a great scent and the Kent whipped it to a real nice cushiony lather. The only thing lacking was the residual slickness that I've become used to with soaps like CBL, Stirling, and WSP.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned previously, but the branch manager at my day job will be leaving next month. She's been a great boss and we'll all miss her. Now the dilemma is who will replace her. No mention has been made of anyone being considered, and the position wasn't even posted within the company until the end of last week. I've made mention of interest, but was told by her and my immediate supervisor (who isn't interested in the job) that I wouldn't be considered due to my lack of management experience. I know the day to day operations of the branch bettter than some other branch managers and started at bottom of the totem pole and have worked my way up to just below a management position. So I've done almost every job here first hand. I thought that maybe the almost 8 years experience with the company would count for something. I'm still considering submitting my resume, but I need to work on it before sending it in. I'll admit that part of me is afraid of the rejection that is likely to come lol.

Willie World:
Temperatures are finally down into the low 80's and Willie is happy about it. That heat was brutal. The street and sidewalks were so hot that we had to pick him up and carry him to shaded areas and grass so he wouldn't burn his paws!

Great shave!

Willie would submit a resume and strut in with confidence. You got the experience, get in there.
I want the job though, I can't have WIllie get hired over me! LOL

It seems everyone but my supervisor and the exiting manager feel the same way as you. I have the experience and should go for it.

Best of luck with the job opening! It’s so hard to find the “experience” people are looking for sometimes, because all they’re thinking is official, formal experience. Hard to get that type of no one/company wants to help someone get there in the first place! Sounds like you’ve made as best an effort as you can though under your circumstances, I hope it pans out!

Nothing ventured nothing gained and you'll regret not trying. If it doesn't work out Willie will console you and no regrets.
You're right Dave. No ragrets...not even one letter

Thanks Chris!

Guess I should start working on the old resume....
