Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

Wow! Didn't know that I was so inspiring that you shaved with a title of a soap that was the theme of a podcast I was listening to! Nice shave!

My dog Allie has been doing that a lot lately too. I thought she wasn't feeling all that well, but I found out she wanted to go find some bugs. We have recently acquired in our yard Mole Crickets. Evidently, she can hear them in the ground and find them. Hence the holes we now have! I looked up how to get rid of the creepy bugs...and the word of the day is...Nematodes. So evidently I will trade one creepy creature for another creepy creature. It's a vicious cycle.

Wait...how did we get on nematodes again? 🤪

Happy Independence Day!!! I won’t get long winded here on why today is so special. I’ll just say...back to back world war champs lol.

On to the shave. The open blade first pass is really starting to get easier and easier. Today could’ve been a little better with a slicker lather, but the angles and approach were all there. The first spin with the Red Tip was awesome. I’ve really been wanting to try one of these and it didn’t disappoint. Paired with the Feather it was super smooth. Although I have to say the GC is just a touch more efficient for me. I really want to get the top repainted and I’ll be doing some research on how to do it myself. This razor is just awesome! All in all I walked away DFS+. So I can’t complain.

So if you couldn’t already tell I went with a Red, White, and Blue theme lol. Red Tip, Stirling Boar, Blue Fougere. Good stuff all around and a great scent!

In Other News...
Off to Bob’s (the father-in-law) today for a BBQ. Bob is always a great time and loves to entertain with great food and even better booze. So today shouldn’t disappoint lol. Not sure what’s on the menu but he can cook anything so I’m sure it’ll be great. My parents will be there along with my cousin and his girlfriend, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Willie World:
Willie will be staying home today. He’s been a bit stiff and we don’t want him bouncing on and off furniture and running with my mother-in-laws Boston Terrier. When they get together the live to chase each other around the house and will usually do so for hours on end. We shouldn’t be out too late so hopefully we’ll be home before people start blowing things up and he gets upset lol.

2 days, 2 shaves, lots of new stuff.

First things first. The General. This was my first time out with an SE and I have to say that I was very impressed. I technically didn’t even need to shave today, but of course I had to anyway lol. I can see why some say the aluminum version is too light and swap out handles, but I decided To try it as is the for the first run. I typically like heavier razors, but didn’t want to mess with the balance of the stock head and handle. The shave itself was extremely smooth and the Feather Pro was sharp as could be. This was also my first experience with an Artist Club blade. I did a full 4 pass shave and the end result was incredible. I did have some very minor irritation in my usually trouble spots on the neck, but less than normal. As for the closeness I walked away BBS. No asterisk necessary. Post shave I got a little sting from the alum and aftershave but nothing worse than normal. All in all I was very impressed with the General and will be using this often I think. I may try a different handle on it, we’ll see.

As for the Fatboy, I pulled that out to do a comparison with my grandfather’s after I did my repair job on the safety bar. It seems I did a pretty good job, but it isn’t perfect as the Fatboy I received from @dkeester is definitely a little smoother. I’ll try to tweak my grandfather’s again and see if I can get them identical.

Both soaps were great performers. I’m not sure how I feel about the scent on Will ‘O the Wisp. It reminds me of something but I can't quite place it.
The Kraken is a great Barbershop scent. Not powdery but similar to GTB.

Sorry for the longwinded post. Lots of new to me stuff lol.

As for the rest of the day, my sister is in from Atlanta so my parents are having a get together at their house. They have an In ground pool so we’ll be sure to be hanging out in there with the heatwave we’re getting here.
