Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

Cedarvale in Logan, NJ. I’m not sure how well known they are. I think the owner said they’ve been around for about 10 years.
Interesting. Never heard of Chambourcin. Just read a bit. From their tasting notes it sounds more similar to Pinot Noir?

I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a Pinot Noir lol. I’ve never been a wine guy, but my wife and I talked about trying to get out and try some stuff. There are about 5 wineries within a 10 mile radius of our house. The owner described it as more on the sweet side than the dry side. But not as sweet as a fruit wine, which were mostly what they had. I tried a cherry and a blueberry and didn’t really care for them.

What?! No cameo by Willie? That settles it, I’m not watching. Oh ... and I saw you call me out there ?

Shave Time!

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Voskhod (?)
Brush: Stirling Kong Synthetic
Soap: Stirling Spice
AS: Stirling Spice

Late entry to an early morning shave. I knew I would be meeting with a client tonight, so I put off shave #2 with the Assured Razor. Don’t worry though, that’s coming back tomorrow morning! Today’s shave was nice. The Voskhod and Rockwell pairing has gotten better after a few shaves. Not sure if the blade calmed down a little or if I just made some small adjustments that I don't realize. Either way I’m getting DFS+ with partial BBS shaves and no irritation. All on 2 passes as well.

Went to the doctor today. I’ve had some weird fluttering going on with my heart randomly for the last few months. My wife finally made me go. I had an EKG done, but of course while I’m at the appointment nothing happens lol. From what he could tell it doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about, but I have to have bloodwork done and go see a cardiologist just to be safe. I really wish I had better insurance lol.

Willie World:

Sir Willie has been extra spunky the last few days and doesn’t want to sit still. It’s good to see him so playful, but man sometimes I need to take a break!

The heart is nothing to take lightly. I had to wear a monitor for a few days. Apparently I have abnormal resting heart rate. It gets very low, couple that hypotension (low blood pressure) I was basically told... eat as much salt as I want. I don't do that, but it did trigger my weightloss journey.

Hey Steve,

I have been where you were with the heart. Back in 2003 I started having tachycardia issues and pressure. It went on for years and no one could figure it out. I was exercising regularly. Heart was in good shape but I would have spikes out of now where that lasted for 20 minutes at a time. Or this never ending pressure and irregular heart beats. Had multiple stress tests. Wore a Holter Monitor for a month. Nothing came of it. Finally was put on a Beta Blocker to keep the HR from spiking only because when it went off I would go into panic attack mode. The closest DR.s could tell it was stress and anxiety related to my work. Why I left Wall St and opened the wine store.

On one of my trips to the ER with what I thought was a panic attack the ER Dr told me I was having an allergic reaction. Turns out I was allergic to Cumin. To think all these years. And it is in everything..

Guess what I am saying.. If they can't find it early on. It is probably nothing serious.

Thanks guys. I have bloodwork scheduled for tomorrow so they can check for potential thryroid issues (runs in the family). I still have to make an appointment with a cardiologist, but my primary doctor said he’ll probably make me wear a heart monitor for 24 hours and possibly do an echo cardio gram. My primary doctor seems to think it’s nothing to be concerned with, but because I have a family history of heart problems he wants me to get everything checked.

Well, shave 2 with the Assured $1 razor is in the books. I switched things up this morning and instead of 2 passes (WTG/ATG) I went with 3 (WTG/WTG/ATG) to see if it would help the harshness of the final ATG pass. It didn't. But both WTG passes felt really comfortable, as did the solo WTG pass on the first shave. Not sure what that's all about, but it's really a big difference in comfort on the 2 passes. Probably has something to do with me using a slightly different angle on the ATG pass. I ended up walking away with about 85% BBS and the rest a solid DFS, although it didn't last very long into the day. Not bad though.

Bloodwork is scheduled for tomorrow and I have a cardiologist appointment scheduled for the beginning of February.

Willie World:
Not much new going on with Willie, which is sometimes a good thing. His big brother Ozzy is having a weird thing going on now though. All night he's been drooling all over the place. Enough to where at one point I thought someone spilled a glass of water. So he'll be going to work with my wife tomorrow to get checked out. She thinks he might have some teeth issues going on.

Yikes! Too many doctor-necessary things going on in here! I hope everything comes out well.

Third shave with the Assured Razor and blade today. Like just about everyone else, the shaves progressively got worse. I was still able to get a DFS+ shave, with some areas BBS, but at the cost of a comfortable shave process. The entire shave just felt like the blade was scraping the hair off my face instead of cutting it. Not very pleasant. Even the WTG pass was rough. I'm glad to be moving on to more pleasant shaves. Maybe I'll start trying to dial in the Fatboy now. Getting used to that can't be any worse than shaving with this thing!

Went in for my bloodwork today. I got to the doctor's office 20 minutes before they opened, and I was still 3rd in line! 2 older couples were there before me, those early birds don't mess around! I was still in and out in about 15 minutes, so only about 30 minutes late for work.

Willie's World:
Willie was not happy to have to go outside this morning in 23 degree weather! He came right back in and curled up in a blanket until I had to leave for the doctor. He'll be snuggling by the fireplace tonight for sure! Still waiting on an update on Ozzy, but Erica and the doctor she had check him at work both seem to think it's nothing serious.
