Shave Time!

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 5
Blade: Kai
Brush: Kingsley Pure Badger
Soap: GTB (13)
AS: Stetson

Switched back to the Rockwell 6c tonight and decided to try a different blade. Went with the super sharp Kai blade. I've had good shaves with Kai's in the past, but tonight it was on the rough side. No tugging or pulling, it just felt rough. I ended up DFS with no irritation to speak of, so I can't complain, it just wasn't a comfortable process.

I also wanted to compare the quality of my badger brushes since I've been using the Wild West Brushworks Jingle 2 band for a while now. It may be a bit soon as the Jingle probably isn't broken in yet, but I swapped to see how it went. Dry, the Kingsley felt softer. Wet, it was scratchier (if that's the right term) and much floppier. The Jingle is clearly the denser knot. Still whipped up a great lather, so I would say the difference would be really just what you prefer.

All in all a good learning experience tonight. I think tomorrow I'll run the Kai blade on plate 4 and see how that goes.

In Other News...

Not much going on at the homestead. Making my way through Red Dead Redemption 2, I might be addicted to this game lol. We also got a free air fryer when we ordered some furniture back in December. That was finally delivered. We've never had one before so I'm excited to use it. I've heard good things about them.

Willie World:

Old Hashbrown Willie (that's his bluesman nickname) seems to be back to his normal self after all the commotion the other day. Still not 100% from the surgery. I can tell that he's still a bit weak and not so sure of himself sometimes, especially when walking on uneven surfaces. But this might just be his new normal, which is fine as long as he's comfortable.

Still itching to get RDR2, it may be a while though. In the mean time, I’m thoroughly enjoying being shady and devious in Skyrim.

Hope the R4 plate does you better tomorrow!

I like Old Hashbrown Willie as a Blues Name. Mine is Big Liver Daddy. Now I have to actually eat the name.

I like the Kia blades. Almost as sharp as a Feather but can manage to get more shaves per blade. Maybe that was just the feel vs the mildness of the Voskhod.

Always wanted Ted to do Spring Break in FL. That should be a great trip.

\n\nYou should go Jim, it\'s a great time! I\'m assuming you\'re a Yankees fan being from NY? They play right over in Tampa. just next to Clearwater where the Phillies are.

Shave Time!

Razor:
Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Kai
Brush: WWBW Jingle 2 Band
Soap: GTB/Oz TikTok
AS: Oz Tik Tok

Well, the GTB is officially gone. I tried to get one more shave out of it, but couldn't get enough loaded to get a decent lather. I think the problem was once I transferred to the mug, I would still bloom the soap. I think this ate away more than it would have if I hadn't broken it apart scraping it out of the tub and mashing it back together in the mug. Or I could be wrong and it was just time. Either way I opted for the Oz Shaving Tik Tok. I feel it's a good cold weather scent.

As for the shave, it was pretty rough. I really don't think the Rockwell/Kai combo is a good one for me. I ended up DFS+, maybe even BBS- with a 2 pass shave and some clean up. A little bit of irritation today immediately after the shave but it dissipated quickly. The shave itself was very uncomfortable again though. So I'll be moving on from the Kai blade after tonight.

In Other News....

Still taking the investor client to see properties and had a call from an interested buyer in a listing I currently have. Maybe I'll have some transactions rolling by February!

We're expecting some nasty weather this weekend and some super cold temps Sunday and Monday. I'm hoping tomorrow night is clear though, since the wife and I are supposed to go to Philly with my cousin and his girlfriend for some adult beverages. We shall see...

Willie World:

Not much going on with Willie Man. He's been feeling good, just trying to stay warm and snuggle up in some blankets!

Hope the transactions come through!

Oh and, requisite ribbing, might as well edit out January here in the journal...it didn’t really count.

Shave Time!

Razor: Fatip Grande
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Brush: Stirling Kong Synthetic
Soap: B&M Diamond
AS 1: Stirling Tea Tree Oil Witch Hazel and Aloe
AS 2: Fine L'orange Noir

I haven't shaved since Thursday, so I went with the open comb Fatip today. A nice shave, although the ATG pass was a little rough/uncomfortable. I though I was for sure going to walk away with irritation and possibly fluid loss, but fortunately none of that happened. No irritation, just a little sting from the alum. All in all I'm BBS everywhere except for just under my chin. This has become a problem area when it comes to getting a close shave recently. Not sure why, but I'm not complaining with the results today!

I still have a box of samples that Gonzo44 (Chris) sent me. I've used about 3 of 10 so far. Decided to pull out the Barrister and Mann Diamond sample. I was going to save it for the the day pitchers and catchers report, but since Dave of the KY clan used it today I decided to join him.

Overall the scent doesn't remind me of baseball at all. It was definitely an earthy scent, but nothing like a baseball diamond. Not bad, but maybe a bit misrepresented. The performance however was awesome. It took me a bit to adjust to the synthetic as I hadn't used it in a while, but once I had the lather going it was very good. Lots of cushion and very slick. I also bowl lathered using my Crown King scuttle. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but the lather does not stay warm in this thing. It is a nice lathering bowl if nothing else though. Although I must say, I do prefer face lathering.

I finished up with some Stirling Tea Tree Oil witch hazel and aloe. Out of the bottle, this stuff stinks lol. But once you apply it, it's not too bad. I wouldn't want to smell like that all day, but it's tolerable. I topped that off with some Fine L'Orange Noir. Very orange. When I walked out to the living room, my wife immediately asked what I used as my AS. I asked her what it smelled like before I told her what it was, and she said spicy and manly. The mix of tea tree and L'Orange Noir combined to make something very good and very unlike either of the 2 scents alone. Pretty cool!

In Other News....

I finally saw Solo today for the first time, and I must say it was pretty awesome! I was very impressed with it and Danny Glover was great as Lando. Spending the rest of the day watching football. The Saints just lost to the Rams, and the Cheifs/Patriots just started. Hoping the Cheifs take down the Pats. I'm sick of Tom Brady and Bill Belichek lol.

WIllie World:

Willie has bee a little sore the last few days. Probably a lot to do with the rain and cold weather. We'll be putting back on strict rest to keep him from hurting anything, but I don't think he'll mind since all he wants to do is wrap himself in blankets and sleep. If you ask me he has the right idea!
