Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

Nice score with the scuttle. Hard to argue with BBS, good stuff!

Willie’s progress seems kinda up and down. You should pamper him more ?

Lots to catch up on, but caught up I am. That Oz soap that's leather & absinthe sounds interesting. I totally dig an absinthe/anise scented soap - wish there were more of them. Mystic Water has a good one.

The Oz absinthe and leather (Wicked) is definitely different, but it’s awesome!

Thanks Tim. I still don't think I’m using the scuttle properly lol.

Willie is beyond pampered! Since the surgery he’s been going to work with my wife everyday (she’s a vet tech at a local practice) so he doesn’t have to stay in a crate all day at home alone. Today she was working in reception most of the day so he got to sleep in a nice cushy dog bed under the front desk lol.

It that what the scent profile is?! I may have to check that out! I loved GD’s Absinthe & Leather but I doubt I’ll ever see that again. Wonder if it’s similar...

Absinthe, Leather, & Black Pepper. Are you in on the pass?

I know nothing about using scuttles, but I know I've heard the continuous heat can break down lathers. But obviously some folks use them all the time.

I've got a scuttle that I don't use anymore because of that very reason. Maybe I'm using too hot a water?

All depends on the soap. Some can take it, some cant. I stopped using a scuttle long ago, but never had any issue. The only one I’ve heard repeated problems with is Mystic Water. Apparently it breaks down if the water is too hot.

The lather didn’t even seem warm to me, so I’m not sure what was going on. Going back to face lathering tonight to see what happens. The first try with the scuttle got me better results so who knows. ??‍♂️

Shave Time!

The shave gods were watching out for me tonight...

I definitely shaved angry tonight lol. I definitely shaved with pressure tonight. After I gave up trying to fix the lather and just using what I had, I shaved 3 passes in about 5 minutes.

By all accounts I should not have a face after all of this. Somehow I walked away with a 90-95% BBS with one nic, no weepers, and no other irritation. How the heck did this happen???? The only thing I can attribute it to, is the protection quality of the soap.

Willie Update:

After last night’s behavior, he was a totally different dog today. He looks like the soreness is all gone and was running, when we couldn’t catch him to stop him lol, all around the house. My wife also spoke with his surgeon today and he said that Willie should be ok to return to regular activity in the next week or 2. Good news for Willie! Although, his regular activity will no longer included doing Superman off the couch.

Thats pretty darned for shaving while angry! And good news on the critter! I employ SafetyCats to keep Old Man Murphy away. Dogs probably accomplish the same.

You are CHOSEN!!! And I don't mean a Veg sort of way! The Shaving Force is strong with this one!

Glad to hear that Willie is doing so well! The scratching could have been his wound healing. But it sounds like he is a raring to go!

Shave Time!

Late night entry so it’ll be a quick one.

Second shave with the Ladas/Stirling combo and it was decent. Not as close and the miraculously lucky shave last night, but a solid DFS.

The lather was much much better tonight. Face lathered with some Oz Shaving Co. Wicked and finished off with the matching AS. I can’t get enough of this scent. It’s a real winner.

Willie Update:

He seems to be better than the last few days. Chasing the cats (one of them hates it, the other loves it), playing with his toys (gently), and begging for snacks. Hopefully he stays on the upward track.

Shave Time!

Razor:
Razorock Tech II
Blade: Parker
Brush: Stirling Kong Synthetic
Soap: WSP Barbershop
AS: WSP Barbershop

I decided to take the Parker blades for a spin in another razor to see how well they would do. I wasnt disappointed. I would say, in this razor, compare to the Feather they are just as sharp and a touch smoother. Definitely a top combo for me. I walked away irritation free and 95% BBS last night. Almost no alum sting, and very little AS sting. Definitely a win!

In Other News...

My wife, Erica, and I took a trip to Center City and South Philly last night with my parents. We had to go get our new spectacles adjusted at Warby Parker, and decided to see some of the Christmas landmarks while we were there. I only snapped a few pics (wanted to enjoy everything through my own eyes, not a camera lens lol) but I’ll put some up over in the Christmas thread.

We went to the old John Wannamaker’s (now Macy’s) to see the light and organ show, Love and Dilworth parks to see 2 Christmas villages, and then to my grandfather’s (mom’s side) old neighborhood to see 2 streets that the residents get together to decorate. The last part was a real nice treat. I haven’t seen those neighborhoods since I was a kid. A nice family night out. The only thing missing was my step son Anthony, he’s with his dad this weekend.

We we also drove past one of my other grandfather's (Dad’s side) barbershops in Center City. It’s not a barbershop anymore, in fact it’s not anything right now. But it was cool to see the building.

On the the agenda for today is cookie making and football. Should be a fun day!

Willie Update:
The old boy is doing really good. We even left him with a blanket while we were out last night and he didn’t eat it! That’s a rare occurance lol!

Remember in my late teens drag racing my '69 Cougar Eliminator on Front Street in Philly until the police showed up and we would move to another. Total Chaos there ?
