Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

I’ve always been a huge baseball fan. I live and die with the Phillies. There have been a lot of disappointing years in between a few good ones lol. As for the other major sports, I’ve never been a basketball fan. But, I’m getting into the Sixers now. I didn't start following the Eagles until about 10 years ago when my father in law, a die hard of 60+ years, got me in to them. I was a huge Flyers fan, but stopped following them after the strike in 03 or 04. After the College Football Extravaganza we’ve had here, I might start getting into that too!

Congrats on the championship! I’ll have to let my sister know!

Roger all, Steve. And I totally know what you mean about "a lot of disappointing years" in baseball. As an Atlanta native, I've been a Braves fan my whole life. Went to my first game in '68, so I know plenty about disappointment! My all time favorite Brave, and indeed, my all time favorite sports "hero" to this day, is #44 "Hammerin' Hank", the real home run king!

BTW, I've actually seen a couple of pro games in Philadelphia. I saw the Flyers/Penguins once, and then I saw the Phillies/Braves once. That Flyers games was intense. Talk about some rowdy fans! Whoa! The only other pro sports team that I've seen a game where the fans were that "demonstrative" was at a Boston Bruins game.

First things first I have to agree 100%. Hank is absolutely the REAL home run king. Hands down.

But disappointment as a Braves fan? Come on man, you guys won the division like 14 years in a row ???.

The Rockwell is on my radar. My only hesitation is the adjustability. When I have that many options, I usually never settle on one lol.

The new specs should be in the week of Christmas. I’ll be sure to post some pics!
5, 5, 5 razors in one!

I've been a sixers fan since the Iverson days. It has been quite a ride the past few years. Glad to see the team doing well though. I am really sad to see Saric on another team since he was a favorite of mine but Butler does add a dimension that the team lacked. Unfortunately, the whole Fultz thing makes me cringe.

Shave Time!

A step back in the right direction...

Razor: Stirling DE3P6
Blade: Parker
Brush: Stirling Kong Synthetic
Soap: Fine Vetiver
AS: Nivea Sensitive Balm

After Chad’s “bad” blade segment on the Parker, I really wanted to revisit the Parker blades. I had previously used a Parker but it was well before I had my little technique breakthrough about 2 months ago. Against my better judgment, I loaded one into the Stirling DE. I really don’t want to give up on this razor, and I figured the only way to dial it in is to use it right?

So I ended up with a great BBS shave above the jaw, and some moderate irritation, multiple weepers, and a DFS on the neck. So I’ve come to 2 conclusions:

1. The Parker blade is definitely a keeper. When I had my angle dialed in I couldn’t even feel the blade. It cut like butter. I firmly believe the Fine Vetiver also contributed to this, but the Parker cut through 2 days growth with no zissues. If I had stopped at 2 passes I’d probably have a better quality shave though.

2. I really need to figure my neck out. After today’s shave it’s obvious that I can use this razor effectively when I know how to dial it in. I just need to keep working on the neck. I guess the Tech II is so mild that I’ve been able to use less than optimal technique on the neck and get away with it.

I’ll also add that the Fine Vetiver was excellent. A great performer, and a great scent. It definitely reminds me of a scent from my youth, but I can’t quite place it.

In Other News:

I have my second listing officially as of yesterday. It’s a fixer upper...needs be fixed waaaay up haha. But it’ll be a good learning experience. Also a cool property. It was originally the carriage house for the fire department in the town back when they still used a horse and buggy.

Willie Update:

Still doing good. He’s still very wobbly but getting stronger. You can tell when he’s having good days and bad days, but he’s starting to learn that he can’t run around like a maniac yet. He’s getting used to hang time on the couch!

Great photo!

Good shave today. Haven’t tried any Fine soaps yet, but the Vetiver is nice as an AS for sure!

Nice shave and photo......................of Willie...............just kidding. Never tried Fine soaps as I like ones that come in a tub. Glad it's working for you.

Good thoughts on your shave! And a Carriage House? I bet that can add some appeal if fixed up properly. I really hope it works out for you as I LOVE to see buildings with a little history restored in some way! Pics when you can please...even in it's unfinished state! Great pic of Willie and you! He looks very content!

Glad Willie is figuring out he needs to take it easy. That will help his recovery!

Haha thanks Dave! I can see the inconvenience of Fine not coming in it’s own tub. I only had a small sample that a friend chopped off and sent me.
Ya, this slows me down too. I finally got Fine Platinum after wanting to smell it for some time and put it in the only shave mug I have. I does bother me that it's sitting out there open to the air and I can just feel the scent slowly leaving it.

Here’s a quick shot I took of the front of the house. The front porch used to be 2 carriage doors.
