Steve's Journal: The Saga Continues....

Haha right Chris?! We both said the same thing while we were sitting there. Shame we can’t afford it!

My father-in-law has been a bartender part time for 20 years at Pine Valley Country Club(he’s a retired teacher). If any of you are into golf you’ve probably heard of it. It’s very exclusive course, and he gets a lot these types of things as tips since there is no money exchanged on the premesis.

The 6ers have a good squad this year. Nice seats. I have sat courtside a few times. Great stuff!

Although my favorite was being on the court officiating a game that was being played where my beloved Utes play. Thankfully before the game the gave us a tour of the facilities and I was on cloud 9 while on the court that game.

That’s awesome Chad! I got to do a youth baseball camp at the Phillies old ballpark Veteran’s Stadium. I was about 10 or 11 and they let us hit from second base so we could actually have a chance to hit one over the outfield wall. I’ll never forget that!

My wife and I also had engagement photos taken at their current stadium before we got married. We were all over the place. Warning track, dugout, behind home plate, locker room. The only rule was we had to stay off the grass. That was more an excuse to take professional photos at the ballpark than having “engagement photos”. ???.

Obviously I’m more of a baseball fan, but seeing a basketball game that close really gave me a greater appreciation for the game. I might actually start paying attention now!

Shave Time!

Razor: Stirling DE3P6
Blade: Gillette 7OC Super Stainless
Brush: Kingsley Pure Badger
Soap: CFG GTB ???
ASB: Nivea ASB Sensitive Skin

New month new setup! I think this month I’ll either be sticking with the Stirling for my razor, or swapping around depending on if I end up with a vintage tech or SS. We'll see what happens.

Tonight I opted to use the Gillette 7oclock Super Stainless that I took out of the Tech II when I switched to a Feather. I really don't think this blade is for me. There must be something about these different Gillette blades that don’t like me. But I ended up with more irritation than I’ve had in a while and even some weepers.

Now I will say that this razor is definitely more aggressive than the Tech II, and there was an adjustment for sure. Believe it or not my ATG pass was the smoothest out of all 3. I’m still not a fan of the blade though, so it was put in the bank. I think tomorrow I’ll go to something a bit more familiar.

Since I had some irritation and some weepers, I decided to cut out the Sharp Dressed Man AS and just use the Nivea ASB. I like this stuff a lot, especially with the dry winter weather coming in. It has a nice scent to it, although it is very faint and doesn’t last long.

So after all was said and done, I walked away DFS but with some irritation. We'll see what tomorrow brings....

Willie Update:

Still on the upswing and getting stronger daily. He’s becoming harder and harder to rest! He has been very good with not jumping (or trying to) and walking instead of running. No pic tonight as he’s wrapped himself up in a blanket like a burrito lol.

Thanks Tim lol. The last shave was definitely more on the ok side than the great side. But I keep marching on in search of the BBS treasure....or have you run off with all of that BBS goodness and kept it for yourself?!?!

Great update Steve. Yep keep working the different blades till you find the right set up. Then you are golden

seems like Willie is getting back to his old self huh?

So happy for you that Willie is doing VERY well! Do you crate him at all? I know when my little guy hurt his back that we crated him when we weren't home to make sure he didn't jump on the sofa or do other activities he shouldn't have.

Great basketball pics and awesome pic of Ben Simmons! He is an absolute phenom. He is one of the few guys that I think should have never went to college. And even though he played at LSU for a year...he isn't liked around here as much as you would think he would be.

Willie had to be crated even when he was healthy. He’s a chewer. He actually destroyed our couch about 2 years ago...I’m still not convinced the wife didn’t have something to do with that though. She did want a new one lol. He likes his crate though. He’ll go in on his own and sleep in it sometimes when we’re home.

As for Ben Simmons, he’s been taking a lot of criticism lately for not shooting the ball. Not sure if that’s something he did in college as well. But everyone here agrees that him and Joel Embid have the potential to be something really special.

In college, Ben Simmons didn't shoot the ball as much as people wanted him to. But when the game was said and done...he was always in double digits and ALWAYS had double-doubles. HE is one of those guys that it's not all about the shooting. He makes EVERYONE around him better with the decisions he makes. He sees the basketball court on a completely different level than anyone else. take it from me...it's not him that needs to catch up to the NBA...it's the NBA that needs to catch up to him. I really like to compare him to Pete Maravich. Maybe not as a shooter...but just because he was in a different dimension than everyone else. Let's hope Ben has a better NBA career than Pistol Pete! And as a side note...both played at LSU!!!

Nope, I’ll share. But in the fine print it states that you have to use Stirling Ben Franklin at lease once per quarter ?

That sucks about the irritation Steve. Isn't it weird when the ATG pass turns out to be the best? despite commonly being the roughest pass.

Glad to hear Willie is recovering just fine. If he's got a lot of energy thats a great sign.

Wow, so you don’t have to sell your soul, you just need the sweaty man pants...I can deal with that!

Shave Time!

It’s late and I’m exhausted, so a quick entry tonight:

Less than good shave again tonight. A decent amount of irritation. I think This Stirling razor either isn’t jiving with my new found technique success, or I need more time to dial it in.

This is 2 in a row that put me back to about 2 months ago when I was still struggling on a daily basis. I’m thinking the Stirling might be coming out of the rotation. At least until after the holidays when things calm down. Tomorrow I think I’ll try out the Fatip and see how that goes. Hopefully better!

Willie Update:

Well apparently Willie is feeling a lot better. Before I got home from work tonight, he jumped onto the couch when no one was looking. So now we have to start babygating him out of the living room unless we’re in it. Jumping on and off the furniture is a big no-no! That’s how he got into this mess in the first place!

Sorry about the rough shaves. Winter can present problems with drier skin and effect shaves too. Just a thought. Tell Willie Uncle Dave said to settle down !!

You know, I hadn't even thought of that Dave. That could be part of the problem. We'll see what happens on the next one!

In my parallel world of shaves mine was a little rough today also!

Jumping on and off of furniture (especially the off part) is really bad for dogs with elongated bodies...so I am happy to hear that you are gating him to keep him off. But it is really nice to hear that he is feeling MUCH better. Had to at least bring a little smile to your face!
