Shave Time!

Razor:
Gillette Fatboy
Blade: Parker Platinum
Brush: Tech Hive Synthetic
Soap: Proraso Single Edge Azure Lime
AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

First shave with the Proraso Single Edge line. I received 2 tubes in a PIF from @gobucks5485 by way of @woodpusher (thanks guys!). I went with the Azure Lime and the scent was just awesome. It really opened up once I started lathering and stuck around the entire shave. Nice and slick, and very easy to build a good lather.

The Fatboy performed great as usual. I went with a 4 pass shave today, incorporating 2 XTG passes in both directions and wow. I had done this in the past but got away from it. I may start doing this regularly again though. I am BBS today, no asterisk needed! And no weepers. That is the big surprise. I seem to just be prone to weepers, but nothing at all today. Just a great shave all around.

Currently begging for wings and veggies...I may or may not have dropped a few carrots intentionally.

At the in-laws today for dinner and football. I don’t really care who wins, but we should get a couple of good games today.

Shave Time!

Razor:
NDC Gillette Super Speed
Blade: Polsiver Super Iridium
Brush: TSC 1st Aniversary Sorrentino Cashmere
Soap: WSP Mahogany
AS: WSP Mahogany

Today’s shave was decent. I discovered a tuck of Polsivers that wasn’t destroyed in The Great Sink Leak of 2020. So I figured, let’s give one a spin. Paired with the Super Speed it provided a comfortable shave, but didn’t seem as efficient as say a Feather so there was some extra clean up needed at the end of the shave. Well, I always do a little clean up but today more was needed than usual. Oh well, just more time to enjoy the scent of WSP Mahogany!

I’ve taken a bit of a break from the SR shaves, but plan to watch a few videos tonight to make sure I’m not missing something regarding my technique on the XTG and ATG passes. I should be back at it tomorrow.

Willie World:
There is some white stuff in the forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday...Willie hates that white stuff!

Busy day today after being away from the branch for a week. I also got an email that they’re sending someone from our corporate training department to work with me next month. It’s a little late considering I’ve been doing the job since October! But I’m sure I’ll learn something so I’m actually looking forward to it.

hough when you're only 4 inches off the ground, I guess a few inches of snow can make bathroom breaks a little uncomfortable...
One of my neighborhood friends family bred Bassett Hounds. When it snowed and he took them for walks. Their proximity to the ground meant that their "boys" dragged through the snow. It was painful to watch. But they didn't seem phased by it.

Shave Time!

I shaved a bunch last week...but I can't remember what I used. Soooo we'll just say they were all decent shaves (no drama) and get right to today's shave.

Razor: RR GC .84p
Blade: Wilkinson Sword (1)
Brush: Stirling Synthetic
Soap: Proraso Wood and Spice Single Edge Cream
AS: Clubman

Let's start with the Proraso. This Single Edge cream is pretty awesome. A small amount, or snurdle as @CVargo would say, produced a very nice and super slick lather. Like really slick. The scent off the tube smells exactly like Proraso Red, but once lathered it completely changes. This is a really nice winter scent. To my nose it's a very warm and deep spice, with a slight woody finish. I would say it's definitely sandalwood, but that could be my brain still thinking Proraso Red from the scent off the tube. The tube does not mention anything about menthol that I saw, but I definitely felt something going on that tells me it is mentholated. It was a nice surprise.

The Wilkinson Sword was also a nice surprise. It was really smooth out of the gate and provided a really comfortable shave. When paired with the Razorock Game Changer, it also proved to be very efficient. I would call this a 3 Names BBS* if it weren't for the ooops....While doing my usual cleanup, I was J-hooking under my chin as is the usual process for me. Did I mention that the Proraso Single Edge is really slick? Cause it is. So slick in fact, that my hand slipped and the razor glided effortlessly across my skin....until my hand slid up the handle of the razor and pushed it blade first into the underside of my chin. Lots of blood, alum, and styptic later, and I have a quarter inch slice. It's all good though, the rest of my face feels great and is super smooth! That being said, I'm looking forward to more shaves with this blade/razor combo. My first impression is that this is going to be a month of great shaves!

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the Willy challenge (naturally I feel obligated to be a part this!) and I think my Bootlegger Willy is finally ready. It seems to have hardened, but still looks a bit granulated. I guess we'll see what happens!

Willie World:
When Willie sinks up to his chin in a snow bank, he doesn't find it nearly as funny as I do....

My employees all think I'm an evil person for making them work today. We got maybe 3-5 inches of snow, most of which arrived about 2 hours before the day was over. Somehow we were the only branch in NJ that was open today. Apparently they got it worse in the northern part of the state. I let all of them leave early though, and I stayed until 5 just in case anyone showed up. We'll see what tomorrow brings, they're saying more snow overnight but it's not doing anything yet.

All you Willy-philes have fun. I'll stick with the Stirling I'm currently using, thank you very much. I follow the KISS rule when it comes to shaving! Funny thing is, I used Williams for a few years back in the 80s and thought nothing of the time it takes to lather. I doubt that I made very good lather back then, though. I recall spending $.79 per puck at the drugstore.

I don’t blame you Bruce. You can’t go wrong with Stirling.

Proraso Single Edge creams are really great. I only have the Cypress and Vetiver, but Wood and Spice sounds like a very nice scent. I can't bring myself to go through a month of Williams or I'd join you guys lol.

Yeah this stuff is super slick. The Azure Lime is a really nice scent too.

We’ll see how long my Bootlegger Willy even lasts, it doesn’t look too stable haha.

Blade: Wilkinson Sword (2)

Soap: Bootlegger Willy
AS: Clubman Whiskey Woods

Well....that shave sucked! I guess I need to really figure out how to lather this Williams soap. It was basically nonexistent. What didn't disappear was pretty slick, but not enough to give a comfortable shave. I'd say the Wilkinson Sword is still super smooth, but I can't really tell haha! Hopefully I get this soap down sooner rather than later.

Willie World:
Some of the snow has melted so Willie isn't sinking quite as far when he decides to walk on it. So that's good.

Today was the second day in a row that I refused to close when other branches threw in the towel. My employees weren't thrilled...
