Shave Time!

Razor:
RR GC .84p
Blade: Wilkinson Sword (4)
Brush: Stirling Synthetic
Soap: Bootlegger Willy (3)
AS: Clubman Whiskey Woods

Well, shave #3 with Bootlegger Willy. I tried Using bottled water instead of tap water today. There was maybe a very minor improvement. I think this is just gonna be a 3017 I suffer through until the soap is kicked, or I’ve just had enough and throw in the towel. We'll see...

The Wilkinson Sword is still doing its thing. Sharp and smooth. I did skip a few days, but I expect this blade to go well past February even when shaving daily.

Willie World:
Just when all the snow has melted and he can finally go for a short walk, we’re supposedly getting 4”-8” tonight. With more expected Wednesday. He’s not happy.

The reason for skipping a few days shaving was mostly due to not having time. Work has had me running back and forth between both of our yards this week (and will do the same next week) and I’ve just been exhausted. The incoming snow isn’t likely to help, but what are you gonna do? 🤷🏻‍♂️

You might try some creamo for a super lather. I’ve not tried that, but I’ve read that some do.

Don’t give up. Beat that thing like it owes you money.

My dad just sent this to me. I’m not sure if I’ve posted this before, probably not because I don’t think I’ve ever found it online.

My Grandfather (dad’s dad) was on the game show I’ve Got A Secret on Halloween night 1956. His “secret” was that he cut actor Steve Allen’s throat. The funniest part of this is the fact that Steve Allen’s wife at the time, Jayne Meadows, was on the panel of celebrities attempting to guess his secret. His “secret” is explained at the end of his segment, no murder attempts were involved 😂😂😂.

This soap is the bane of my existence. It’s a good thing I have a decent razor/blade combo.

The snow wasn’t as bad as they were calling for and the roads are pretty much just wet. Off to watch the game with the FIL. Scotch is most likely in my immediate future!

This soap...so I changed a few things tonight. After seeing a few recommendations from @Spider @OpusX and @Luecke3262 I did the following:
  • Bloomed the soap for about 15-20 minutes
  • Switched to a boar brush and after letting the brush soak, I shook it out until it was just a little damp
  • Extended the load time. I did a 60 second count, but it probably closer to 2 minutes
  • Used the bloom water when adding water to the brush to build the soap
The result was a much improved, but still lacking, initial lather. It was much less airy than it has been and was still very slick, but still not on par with what I’m used to with other soaps. Each lather before the remaining passes got progressively worse. By the last pass it was back to disappearing on me, but I was able to get through it. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

The Wilkinson Sword is still kicking butt. I still have to figure out which variation of WS this one is, but it’s good!

Willie World:
Still not happy about this snow. And we might get more in a couple days.

I spent the day running the wheel loader and loading up trucks at our offsite location in Philly today. I might have made a friend today too:

He sat and watched me drive past him for a while before he got bored (or hungry) and jumped the fence. It looks like the nighttime security guy has been feeding him so I’m sure he’ll back. All he needs now is a good name...

Even with as far as I feel I've taken the modern Williams, I would agree that it doesn't compare to many boutique modern soaps. The cushion and thickness aren't it's strong suit, but if you find it disappearing, taking the brush and just getting a touch of water on the tips, and adding a painters pass on top makes up for it. The thinnest later of wet Williams slickness still allows for a smooth shave, which I have found a bit surprising.

I assumed that it was disappearing because there was already too much water haha. I’ll try this tomorrow. You’re right about the slickness though. For what this soap lacks in other areas, it might be one of the slickest soaps I’ve ever used.
