Shave Time!

Razor:
Black Handle Super Speed
Blade: Feather
Brush: Mystery Badger
Soap: Mystery Lime & ???
AS: Clubman

Good shave today. Had a hard time getting a good lather, but it worked out in the end. Still trying to figure out what this soap is!

Willie World:
Forecast calling for snow tomorrow. Willie no likey.

Surprise visit from the boss today at work. He was happy with the progress we’ve made and is fighting to get us some help with staffing out in the yard. All in all a good visit...

Shave Time!

Razor:
Rockwell 6C Plate 4
Blade: Feather
Brush: Stirling Boar
Soap: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum
AS: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum

I decided on a pirate’s life today so I went all in on the Atomic Age Bay Rum. Also reached for the Rockwell which I haven’t used in a long time. No reason in particular, just hasn’t been picked for use recently. Plate 4 was a bit mild compared to my last few razor choices, and I noticed that I was applying pressure a few times throughout the shave. Luckily I got away with it and kept the red stuff on the inside. No strawberry lather as @BarberDave would say lol. I’m hoping the use of such an easy razor doesn’t bring back bad habits and wreak havoc on tomorrow’s shave...

The boar shed a few more hairs today but nothing major. It seems to have settled down.

Willie World:
Little man is not happy with current weather situation. We avoided 6-10” of snow, but still ended up with about 3 or 4”. Not ideal for poop walks 🤪

Took a trip to Northeast Philly to check out an overflow yard we’ve been storing cars at for work. So far we’ve moved about 600 over. We’re likely to add at least 1000 more with the recent closures of 15 motor vehicle offices in NJ. Very thankful that we have this option available, if not I have no idea what we would do. The place still needs a lot of work and supplies. At the risk of losing all sanity I’ve volunteered to take on a bigger role in overseeing it. I think the plan is to just hire someone else to manage it though, which is probably the best choice. Managed to make it back home before the real snow started.

Shave Time!

Friday
Razor:
Stirling DE3P
Blade: Parker Platinum
Brush: Mystery Badger
Soap: CBL Oud Minerale
AS: Avon Spicy

Saturday
Razor:
Schick Injector I Type
Blade: Schick
Brush: 2nd Anniversary TSC Synthetic
Soap: Stirling Hipster
AS: Stirling Hipster

Skipped my shave on Thursday in order to be able to leave the house as early as possible. We got about 4” of snow on Wednesday evening which turned to freezing rain overnight. The roads were expected to be bad so I wanted to be able to take my time driving.

I pulled out the Stirling DE3P, or as I like to call it C3PO! This razor has always delivered for me and Friday it didn’t disappoint. I finally grabbed a blade other than a Feather and went with the Parker Platinum. My stash of random blades was ruined a while back when I had a leak under the sink, so all of the loose blades had to be tossed. I still have a few different brands that were in sealed packs, but I honestly don’t see a huge difference in blades, so that aspect of my gear remains pretty boring haha.

Today I was pleasantly surprised by a package from @MilkCrate containing a few goodies, of which a few were used in my shave. I snuck a pack of Schick Injector blades into the cart when Christmas shopping for the wife and they arrived yesterday. Time to break out the jectah! This was my second attempt at using the razor, and the first with a blade that wasn’t bad. The first time I loaded a blade into the razor empty not realizing that’s a no-no and the results weren’t great. This time was much different. The shave was a little awkward at first since the angle you hold the razor at isn’t the same as a DE due to the design of the head, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I ended up having a very smooth shave and walked away with a 3 Names BBS*.

The Hipster soap and splash were both excellent. I would expect nothing less from a Stirling product, although I wasn’t quite sure what to expect scent wise given the name lol. Tim described it as being in the Barbershop scent family and I picked that up immediately, but it also has a familiar cologne scent to it that I cant quite place. Definitely good stuff though. The 2nd Anniversary brush whipped up a great lather, although it seemed to hide it. The top of the brush seemed to have very little soap on it, but once applied to the face it just came out of nowhere! I think I’ll call this brush The Wizard since it seems to have magical abilities lol. It’s got a lot more backbone than any of my other brushes, but that really wasn’t an issue for me. Tomorrow may see the appearance of more of Tim’s generosity. Thanks again buddy!

Willie World:
Willie has been a bit rambunctious lately and has been hopping on and off the couch when no one is looking. We keep the living room gated off when we aren’t in there with him, but sometimes even when I’m sitting next to him he’s too quick for me to grab! He even jumped out of bed this morning which is very bad for his back, but I think he managed to get away with it this time.

I was able to take Saturday off after working the entire weekend last week. I even have Monday off! We’ve been getting caught up at work and I was able to hire another yard employee on Friday. I’m hoping his drug and background checks come back quickly (and clean!) so he can start sooner rather than later.

The wife and I hit a local winery today to see a buddy of mine play a solo acoustic gig. He killed it as expected. Great song selection too.
