Staying Fit Staying Sane

Okay...I FINALLY put my DIY Farmer Walk Weights to use. So...I really thought that each devise was going to be close to 100 pounds. Boy was I off. Each comes in at 78 pounds. Still, over 150 pounds total weight, so I am keeping pace with Sam @woodpusher Before I get into all the weird stuff I want to talk about...this was my routine.

Farmer's Walk - 30 Steps
Squats - 10 Reps - Body Weight
Farmer's Walk - 20 Steps
Upright Rows - 10 Reps (40 Pounds + Curl Bar)
Farmer's Walk - 30 Steps
Push Ups - 10 Reps (Body Weight)
Farmer's Walk - 10 Steps
Single Leg Squats - 10 Reps (Body Weight)
Farmer's Walk - 15 Steps
Bent Over Rows - 10 Reps (40 Pounds + Curl Bar)
Farmer's Walk - 10 Steps
Shrugs - 10 Reps (Farmer Weight Device)
Farmer's Walk - 10 Steps
Lunges - 10 Reps (Each Leg) (Body Weight)
Farmer's Walk - 5 Steps
Suitcase Walk - 10 Steps (Each Side)

So...some observations...

1. The 78 Pounds x 2 is probably just right at least for a couple of weeks until I get this work out sorted out

2. For the leg exercises I am only doing body weight for the time being until I get the routine down.

3. For the Upright an Bent Over Rows, I think I need to either increase the weight on the curl bar or I need to just ditch the curl bar and just use the Farmer's Walk Device.

4. I tried to make this more intense workout by making sure that I at least jog between stations.

5. This work out lasted only 15 minutes and that is with me adding a couple extra reps here and there. 25 minutes if I count my stretching. I want to get the format down before I do a whole lot. But I am thinking of doing two to three sets of the exercises between the Farmer's Walk exercises. I am also thinking of adding five to 10 steps to each Farmer's walk...or maybe I should try adding on my weight.

All in all though...even if it was just a short routine...I got a good sweat going and my heart was pumping. I want to increase the duration of the routine...but I need to make sure I am not spending an hour on it either. 30 - 45 minutes is really where I want to be. Anyway...first work out in a long time in the books.

Woke up this morning and definitely feel it in the back. Not so much sore...but that I definitely worked some muscles. Core muscles also feel like they were worked. I think this routine is a keeper, with some tweeks!

Today's workout was:
- 40 mins on the elliptical

No weights again today (blame the dandelions!), but mom put in 40 minutes on her treadmill with me and hit a new distance PB of 1.01 miles! Hey, at 84, every little bit counts!

BONUS: To give me a break from weeding, my wife took me on a 40 minute walk during her lunch. Yaaayy!!

Yesterday was a rest day but still managed to get an hour long walk in, during the afternoon.

Today: 60 min morning walk with Iryna in the beautiful weather.

This afternoon: 80 day obsession day 33 booty day. Seeing some serious muscle toning gains. I’ll be able to see some definition in my biceps soon, I’ve been looking forward to this!

Another "no weights" day today. I spent the day mowing the lawn and tilling our 5 box gardens (1 is 20' long!) as well as two open beds in preparation for planting. After that, I pulled a bunch of dandelions ... again. I am pooped.

Today's workout was:
- 40 mins on the elliptical .... mom Is settling in somewhat to the 40 minutes on the treadmill. Even though she complains about the extra time, she is happy when she sees the distance clock over to 1.00 miles.

The last few days:

Friday: 80 Day Obsession Day 34 Cardio Core.
Afternoon trip with my father and Nathan to the National Transportation Museum. Loads of walking and climbing up on trains.

Saturday: 80 Day Obsession Day 35 Total Body Core.
Afternoon solo jog, 30 min.

Today: 80 Day Obsession Day 36 Leg Day, still pretty tired from Total Body Core.
Morning walk with Iryna and Nathan for about 45 minutes.

Today:
Early Morning: Walk/Jog 45 min

Afternoon: 80 Day Obsession AAA(Arms Abs & A$$) This was a legit workout last week that left me a bit sore, I'm looking forward to going hard at this one and increasing the weights. This week is 3X10 by comparison to last week's 2X15, so I should be able to go a bit heavier, at least for the first couple of sets.

I'm still taking it a bit easy on my left bicep. I had a partial bicep tear last April and it still gets a little sore here and there, but it has come A LONG WAY! At one point, maybe back in august, you could barely feel my muscle when I would flex. Today, it looks and feels much better.

Good luck this week guys!

Totally crashed last week, too much going on with work, my head is totally done in. Plus somehow my back workout on Wednesday gave me insane DOMS. I wound up just taking the Thursday-Saturday off, and doing a super light deload week this week.

I haven't done any weights for a while now as we are (*ahem* "I am" 🤫) constantly in the garden prepping beds and picking dandelions. I'm stiff and sore all over and my callouses have callouses. Still getting in 40 mins of sweating on the elliptical every morning with mom.

Maybe you will finally start gaining weight! 🤪

It was raining cats and dogs this morning, so I skipped the morning walk/jog and ended up walking inside for 30 min at work(Tuesday is the day I’m in office now).

This afternoon/evening: 80 Day Obsession Day 38 Cardio Flow. Time for a butt kicking!

Yesterday was super challenging and today will be tough with all my sore muscles. Super happy with my weight right now, 182lbs and with the toning my body is going through. My arms and shoulders are starting to look nice and even my legs and butt(which have always been fatty) are starting to look much more toned.

On behalf of the entire Cadre (I think), let me say THANK YOU for including pics. :ROFLMAO:

Great work Matt!
Thanks!
Hubba Hubba!! 💄💋

But seriously, looking good, Matt!

I wonder .... .... If I lost 50 lbs, would my hair grow back? :)
... or would my back hair grow?
LOL Thanks Sam!

Honestly, I'd hate to see you at 105 lbs!!!! I don't think you'd be growing anything if you were that small, but of the two options, likely your back hair!
