Crown & Crane Deep Ellum- excellent artisan that doesn't get the attention they deserve. Their products are of a very good quality and you can tell they take pride and care in their work.
Scent of Deep Ellum is a complex Citrus that smells like Royalty High Class Cologne.
B&M Baudelaire- man do I love this scent! Hard to describe but it is musky with some citrus and unlike anything else you will encounter anywhere. Wish I picked up the matching A/S. This shave went well despite my "hit or miss" luck with B&M. Finished off wi4h Siliski F&M A/S Oil.
Grandstaff Amyris- discontinued artisan which is a shame, Travis Grandstaff is a good guy and his soaps are decent with unique scents. This one is a fresh Spring slightly Floral, perhaps Helitrope or other lesser used EO's make up this scent.
QCS Rose Otto- fantastic Rose scent right up there with CBL BRO, WTF ZuZu's Petals, Mystic Water and other Fine Rose scents. This is a artisan I would jump at the opportunity to try any other scents from them and since they are discontinued options are limited but performance are ELITE IMO.
L.A. SHAVING CO SPRING STREET- for some reason this is a artisan that I honestly don't care for, despite multiple chances I find performance to be OK at best. No trouble lathering but seems to be lacking something IMO.
Ballenclaugh Hot Barrel Rose- fantastic soapmaker and one of my top 10 soap Bases. Chris has a real talent for unique scents similar to Will from B&M you can guarantee nothing else in the den will smell like this. HBR is Rose and Gnupowder and is a Guns & Roses tribute. Fantastic shave!
Musgo Real- they had some trouble with reformulations with this soap but this is the good one. Picked up at Maggards for $12 for a triple milled soap, given the performance this is a great value IMO. If you love the Classic Musgo scent this is a must have, hard to describe but a Oakmoss perhaps some Lavender it is earthy musky Classic goodness!
Performance is very good and provided everything one would look for.
Dr. JON'S LEMONGRASS GERANIUM- the Dr. Himself was passing these out at last year's Maggard Meet. Nice EO natural scent and since I like GERANIUM this is right up my alley, thankfully the Lemongrass is toned down as it is known for being strong. This is the vol.2 formula and very good performance Vegan soap base.
MER Barbershop- this is another artisan that doesn't get the attention they deserve Dave is a great person that goes out of his way to make sure his customers are happy, even offering soaps with or without menthol or Extra Scent added which is the only artisan I have seen that has this option.
Scent of Barbershop is not your typical, it is Boozey Bold and different from most in this genre. Fantastic shave and a artisan I would recommend to anyone curious!
Gustafson Blue Bayou- soap made my Square One Soapworks and is a top notch product. Scent is a mix of Cedarwood and Lavender EO. Soap whips up a lather that is creamy with no bubbles similar to I Coloniali or Shannons. Highly recommend unfortunately they only have a couple scents available these days but fantastic stuff nonetheless.
Local Gent Anubis- yet another discontinued artisan with great products...lol Sorry guys I'm not doing It on porpoise I swear.
Scent of Anubis is Musky Vanilla Patchouli this is the Goats Milk soap base that is of great quality and on the firm side of the spectrum. Matching Balm is equally terrific and wish it were still available as they used one of the best bottle/pumper in the market.
Wild West Rose Dunn- was looking everywhere for this soap and finally found it behind the shelf. Russel is a farmer that makes some decent products, especially like his Rose scents and the fact they come in 2oz tubs allowing for better variety.
Shannon Haymarket Vetiver- fantastic Citrus Vetiver scent with top notch performance and a price that's hard to beat ($12/4oz) with 2 soap Bases to choose from plus Shannon and Brian are nice trustworthy people. If you haven't tried Shannon s soap you owe it to yourself to give it a shot.
This Zorrik blade has surpassed my expectations and is quite smooth and efficient despite being a lesser used blade.
Matching A/S is Witch Hazel based with no burn just a nice scent and soothing feel.
Crown & Crane Jamacian Peppercorn- Vegan soap base that performs like Tallow. Scent is a complex cologne with a peppery vibe without being overpowering. Had a excellent shave and have been impressed with the Zorrik blade.
Late night shave with Van Yulay Peace, Love & Citrus. Monika has one of the biggest Scent lists of any artisan (along with Gingers Garden) plus offering multiple soap Bases there is something for everyone literally.
This is a Patchouli scent with Citrus background but still retaining the Hippy vibe, well done blended scent IMO.
Shave went well and lathered well. Van Yulay can be a bit hit or miss for me bu5 thankfully thus was a hit. Shave went well and finished off with Givenchy Gentlemen Balm which has a similar scent.
La Savon des Volcans Rosemary Mint- strong minty scent with rosemary in the background. Very hard texture like a triple milled soap. Lathers quick and give decent performance but nothing to write home about.
J L Davis Bee Spicy- this is a bay rum lavender type scent sort of herbal but in a unique way. Sadly discontinued Esty artisan. Performance is quite good and makes a great lather.
Kells Original Dragons Blood- typical glycerin based soap with added Hemp Oil. Unfortunately I get some burning with this particular scent which is nearly identical to the RP Dragons Blood and is a nice Incense scent.
