The Stuff: This is a day of sets. The Razor and Strop both were imported by Mitchel Mogal of NYC I'm not sure when, but it was the first 'contribution' by a friend when it became known that I was a budding straight shaving collector. The remaining components of the stuff are from Sterling. Iced Pineapple was from an inspiration whilest reading the journals this evening. As it happens, I have all three of the parts Soap, Balm, and Aftershave. As well as a huge brush from Sterling. So they all get tagged. SafetyCat however, was a bit reticent to go to the den. I called him from his perch in the front window. He came back and surveyed the situation, and in a couple of seconds, Buster came into the den. I swear they have something going on. His heart obviously wasn't in it though. He looked over the station, sniffed the soap and took the secondary post on the rug in front of the tub. Later in the shave, he moved back into the right sink.
The Shave: I don't know if I mentioned this, but since I got my new ears singing blades are operatic in their volume. The Microphones are really close to the working surface. I think I may learn to use this feedback as I continue to get used to them. I don't normally have my ears in when I shave for fear of severing the little wire thing, but I think I can avoid it.
Buoyed by the confidence of having a SafetyCat, enhanced hearing and a superior soap, I think tonight is a night for baby chasing. Starting from Stroke 1 I can feel and sense everything lining up for a really excellent shave. Three full passes, and a bit of cleanup using the balm as lubricant and I am swimming with dolphins tonight. The Balm smells a little bit different from the soap and AS. I'm not sure I sensed as much menthol as in the other products but I also don't use balm very much at all.
Comments: I made an appointment with the Line-X people to do the Benz roof Friday. The technician says it will be real easy and will take about 2 hours to do. I apparently did ok fixing the stuff he didn't like last fall. Best part is the lifetime warranty (life of the liner? or the car already 40 years old)
I am starting to ponder what gear selections for my 300 coming up. I'm leaning Swedish. LOL
Respectfully Submitted,
