Rich's Journal: Adventures with Life and Sharp things

Nice shave and read, Rich. Sorry to hear about the computer issues. As convenient as they can make things, when they cause issues it almost seems like more hassle than they are worth.

Nice quick shave Rich. I have worked with PCs or Macs on a daily basis since about 1986. The first one I owned personally was just a power supply and a mother board, and everything else I installed. That was circa 1997ish. My son; however, has built every computer he has ever owned, the last one being just last year. In fact he built my grandson's computer for Christmas this past year on components that my daughter and he purchased. I have excellent IT support at work, so I have not pulled the cover on a PC for some time, but I am thinking that it is time to pass the torch and let my son deal with it if I have a need to do so anytime in the future.

I knew it was all of the memories that the storage bedroom was having on you that made the task, or the thought of the task, so difficult for you. What you and your wife might want to try to do is to go through the stuff with your son sometime if he gets back to Ohio. That way you can go through it together, and in so doing, share the memories with him. He might be interested in taking some of it. You might also consider renting a storage unit. Being retired, I know that finances are more fixed than they once were, but sometimes these units are not terribly expensive. Good luck with it all my friend.

Great shave Rich!

Hope you can get the computer issues worked out. Then differently can be a pain at times!

Terrific shave, Rich! I still have a tube of Proraso Red that doesn't get enough love, but I bring it out for some superlather every once in awhile.

Straight shave #301
Razor: 6/8 Gold Dollar 62
Soap: Sterling Island Man
Scuttle: Crown King 12oz.

Strop: Mitchel Mogal #824 Horsehide
Brush: 24MM Red Baron Blood Knot
AS/EdT: Sterling Island Man
Sound track:

The Stuff: Found this GD 62 and the 59 sitting in their boxes in the back of the drawers, in boxed them and tossed them into the rotation drawer. I’ve only shaved with them a couple of times, what could possibly go wrong (Cue ominous music) The brush is one I wish I had set a little less deep to allow it to splay a little more, but it is what it is. I still like it. Island Man is one I used once when it came in, said “Meh” and put it away as a summer soap completely ignoring it until someone reminded me either here or on Social Media site. SafetyCat Mittens is dutifully esconced in his sink and all is well with my world. Sterling lathers as I expect, 50 laps on linen then leather, I turn to do the shave thing.

The Shave: Remember I mentioned I just put this 62 into the rotation and what could go wrong? Well, while no blood was spilt over two and a half passes, there was significant tugging from the toe and heel of this blade. It’s gonna hit
the quarry when I’m done with this shave. The size and grind of this razor make it a very vocal beast. It is quite heavy compared to the rest of my fleet. Thanks in large part to the presence of safety personnel, I get my three passes in with no fluid loss or irritation. Sterling also probably had some hand in prevention of hull plate damage. I do have a serviceable shave after three passes and would be pressing my luck to try to clean up any further, so calling it here.

Comments: As I was putting this entry in the heard way using my iPad I noticed I had unwittingly passed the 300 mark without crowing so here I go ?. I’ve been fighting my Laptop which is fighting to recover the FAT of my archive drive and still indicate some 70 more hours to go. (terrabytes of data) And I am trying to keep up with all you guys! If you see “likes” on your posts, I’ve been there, just didn’t have anything to add using this stupid touch screen keyboard. I really kind of like just being able to like something and go without repeating what someone else has already said. But thqt’s just me.
I got the Benz back yesterday and it looked like a million bucks! For about 10 hours... Then the legendary strength of the Line-X spray on bedliner began to bubble and blister all over the roof. Of course the guy isn’t in today so I am just sick. I assume he will need to make it last at least a couple few days even if he doesn’t warranty his work. Elsewise I may have to raise my voice. (Lol)

Respectfully submitted

The server decided that three times is good luck maybe?

Nice shave with the 66 even if it wasn't in tip top shape. Sorry to hear about the bubbling, hopefully he'll be able to get it fixed without too much hassle.

Daaaang that sucks about the Benz! I hope he doesn’t raise a fuss. He certainly has no grounds to.

Oh boy on the Benz. I wasn't a fan on the Island Man scent but I know a lot of guys really like it.

Really sorry about the vehicle...if the guy doesn't honor his work...well there is Yelp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram...not to mention that a bunch of angry guys called the Cadre might be able to pitch in!

Great picture and shave Rich, even if the razor wasn't up to par!

As too the Benz. I think LineX comes with a warranty, whether the guy warranties his work or not. I would assume he is s an authorized distributor. According to LineX's website LINE-X quality that we back our bedliners with a lifetime warranty, giving you complete peace of mind. Granted that is on the bedliner, but I think it is the same product. I would venture to guess if the installer won't cover it LineX will.

Wow, huge bummer about the Benz. I hope that you get it sorted out to everyone's satisfaction.

I am glad that the shave was decent. I hope you can get some better performance out of the GD.

Well once you get the bubbles fixed on the roof, it's will be handy. It looks like you've got enough grip of there to let people practice their surfing while you're zooming down the highway!

LOL! it is pretty grippy! The area around where the sunroof was, is highly reinforced so someone could conceivably try and stand up there, and because of the smooth ride and low speed be up there long enough to get us busted by the local Gendarme.

The guy at the Line-X place was blown away by how much bubblage was there and it was peeling so easily. I talked to corporate and they concur that the roof will not have the lifetime warranty, but can't explain why not. Far less wear and tear on the surface etc.. she said she would get back to me on that, but if the local guy wouldn't fix it, they would arrange to have it fixed. I suggested they reach out with their technical guys to help this guy apply their product so that the bubbling can be eliminated.

Oops! I was playing with the check boxes to try and reduce the tidal waves of email I've been receiving. I think I set them back the way they were.
