Razor: Blackland Vector / Schick Pro line 30
Soap: Dragons Beard
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: The Hive
AS/EdT: Dragons Beard

Comments: Tomorrow looks to be a very busy day so am doing tomorrow’s shave tonight. Also as I have many new toys to put into play, just hadda do it! I did record the shave, but once again I confused my record and stop button so recorded no shaving bits.

The Hardware: Getting to know the Vector as it works on my face and I am continuing to be astounded with this razor! With DE’s and my Schicks it’s easy to traverse my chin and lower lip. With the Vector the additional width can cause binding and possible nicks.

The Software: Something very familiar and ‘comfortable‘ about the fragrance. The Oud is forward, but there is something else and I wish I hadnt already packaged the goods up. The spouse unit likes it so it’s good by me. My water is pretty hard with a lot of limestone in it. I tested the water band using the “Josh method” and ran out of nerve before I could break the lather. I nearly ran out of bowl! The matching aftershave complements the soap very well and Mama even tested a bit on her wrist. It smells nice on her too!

The Shave: Again I am struck slack-jawed from the first stroke with this razor! I will swap in a Feather next time to see how it compares. Soon the Schick and the Vector are gonna have to have a showdown.

Great stuff. Rich! You guys are making me really curious about both that soap and the Vector.

Razor: Case Red Imp 5/8
Soap: Strike Gold Old Hickory
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop: Griffith
Brush: Sorrentino Cadre 1st Anniversary Boar
AS/EdT: Strike Gold Old Hickory

Comments: it’s been quite a while since I’ve used a full straight and today seemed as good a day to do it as any. Under the glass there was a bit of corrosion near the toe of the blade. A few strokes on a pasted hose then leather ant it’s as keen as it’s ever been. The soap was a gift from my Rudolph buddy and he seems to have chosen wisely.

The Hardware: This little red Imp doesnt have the familiar red scales associated with its make. I assume it’s been re-scaled at some point in its life. It’s got a bit of a frown that will need addressed at some point. But for today, it’s just as keen as it’s ever been.

The Software: Strike Gold’s base is quite slick and builds a very adequate lather. I may have built my lather on the dry side this morning as I shaved in haste. In some ways it resembles some of the properties I noticed in Chris L’s experimental soaps. quite slick during the pass, but not much after the pass. As if it had something that counters the hardness of my water and let’s the razor squeegee all the slick away. It rinses quite clean, and the frag is quite subtly floral.

The Shave: I had to remind myself I have an extra 25mm of Blade compared to the Feather SS. Gotta watch the toe, or the heel as the circumstances dictate. It only takes a second of inattention to make a nasty gash. Three passes and I got myself a DFS. The aftershave is as floral and subtle as the soap.

Razor: Post War Tech / Wizamet (3)
Soap: Arko
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Techichi Hive
AS/EdT: Rich’s DFET Bay Rum

Comments: skipping back a generation, now to the Heritage razors closest relative.

The Hardware: This Razor was assembled from miscellaneous parts and is a proven performer. Truly a no-drama razor. We’ll be starting out one-blade-February with this razor. The Hive Brush continues to show how well synthetic bristles can stand up to even the best of organic.

The Software: keeping with today’s no-drama theme, Arko is, was, and will be in my den for this kind of shave

The Shave: Two and a half passes to a worry free DFS

Late Saturday Night shave

Razor: Blackland Vectah’
Soap: Fine Orange Noir
Scuttle: face Lather
Strop:
Brush: Maggard Synthetic
AS/EdT: Fine Orange Noir

Comments: Getting in some Vectah goodness prior to making the Kessel Run with the Gillette Black. It’s been a heckuva week for feeling half sick. I think the spouse unit has re-infected me. I’m also kind of wondering about some better, tighter sweater anti depressants, or perhaps some vitamin d.

The Hardware: C’mon! It’s a Vector! And it’s hard to go wrong with a Maggard Synthetic.

The Software: If I squint just right I think I can see the Fine logo guy trying to regenerate on this puck it’s been so long since I’ve used it. Lathers great, good slickness. Simply a good to great soap! And the fragrance? Fuggedaboudit!

The Shave: Getting a bit of practice in shaving in the small bathroom whilst SWMBO takes over the main bath I usually use, and film in. Works out fine except SafetyCat Noel doesn’t like the smaller room. She’s letting me know about it sitting on the bed behind me. Three passes go without incident. The smaller mirror and no counter proved to be no impediment to a great shave. I wonder what fresh orange dirt will smell like under the CPAP..
