Rich's Journal: Adventures with Life and Sharp things

20 Dec 2019

Razor: RazoRock GameChanger / GSB (6)
Soap: CBL test wafer #2
Scuttle:
Strop:
Brush: Stirling fan Badger
AS/EdT: Thayers Aloe Witch Hazel / Brut

Comments: With a dryer brush and extended loading time I was successfully able to face lather. With a bit of additional water between passes I hit the sweet spot with this soap. Plenty slick, but still showing the characteristics it showed yesterday.

The Hardware: Same as yesterday. I really like this brush!

The Software: I loaded this time like it owed me money! I was rewarded with a dense lather that quickly thinned down with the rinse water between passes. It does rinse really clean! If we could balance this rinse ability with post pass slickness we’d really be onto something!

The Shave: The follicle that was complaining yesterday turned into a full on zit today. Three passes were comfortable while the lather was on. Once removed, not much to work with. But it rinses nice and clean and the lather was super consistent once the water balance was hit. I got a shave I’d put up against my incoming Vector today. I look forward to comparing these razors after the first of the year.

Someone wanted to check out the shave station from my point of view today.

Razor: Gillette Slim / Wizamet (2)
Soap: Speick
Scuttle: Face Lather
Strop:
Brush: Frank Shaving Synthetic “Macy”
AS/EdT: Speick

Comments: Ive been a little under the weather for a few days. thank goodness I live a fairly sequestered life and had my Flu shot. It’s been taking down a lot of people around here. From what I saw Sunday, there were a lot of empty spots in the pews. After four days I’m feeling pretty grubby and itchy. Need a shave.

The Hardware: I split a package of Wizamets and am glad I have some to see what the buzz is all about. I’m impressed with the smoothness of this blade. I will study on these for a bit with several razors to see which ones the blade favors. I’ve noticed sometimes a blade works better with one razor over another.

The Software: Speick is a standard now in my travel kit. Im figuring nearly a weeks growth will be a test of the slick and cushion of this soap. i don’t often prelather and hot towel, but I did this time. The hot moist air also feels good on my punished sinuses.

The Shave: This blade fully lives up to my expectations of keenness and smoothness. I am partial to Gillette Blacks, but these are making moves on the top slot. Three passes went very smoothly and easily. I had a bit of irritation on my neck near the collar line. Good thing I don’t wear a tie very often.

Beautiful razor! Big fan of the Slims

Great shave, and glad to hear that you're feeling better. I've been really impressed with the Wizamets so far, and hope that trend continues.

Good shave, Rich. I'm glad you're on the mend, and the worst of it behind you. Those Wizamets are something else.

Yup...I am coming down...or came down with the Crud...as @Dave in KY and my wife put it. Sounds like you are on the up and up and what better way to fight it off but with hot towel relaxing shave! Good One Rich!
