Razor: Dovo 5/8 Inox
Soap: Barrister and Mann “42” Hitch hiker tribute
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Sterling Boar
AS/EdT: B&M 42
Talc:

Comments: going through pictures on my phone I came across this photo (below). Inspired me to dig out products I’ve not used in quite a while.

The Hardware: Dorco makes a fine blade. I’ve been practicing my finishing stone work and this was my latest effort. I finished on an ILR and running water until the blade got sticky. Actually it was more jumpy than sticky. I stropped on firehouse then horsehide and brought it to the sink.

The Software: This soap carries a very heavy floral fragrance. It also lathers like a champion! It took next to no time at all to work up a serviceable lather. On my vlog I cut away to lather and didn’t really need to.

The Shave: Two passes and a cleanup on the jawline and I’m sporting a solid BBS. Mommas not wild about this soap, but I like it to help me sleep.

Razor: Genco 5/8 Wedge
Soap: Speick
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop: firehose / Griffin
Brush: Semogue
AS/EdT: Speick
Talc:

Comments: First Shave using new lineless lenses in my glasses. I got them yesterday, the transitions aren’t natural for me yet, and it resulted in a pretty good Nick in my chins Hull plating.

The Hardware: This Genco was a basket case when I got it and after new shoes and cleaning up shaves like no other razor in my collection. That is because my only wedge. I may do a bit more refining of the edge.

The Software: Speick is a new addition and the only stick I’ve tried to date. I think it would be excellent traveling companion. The scent is quite subtle from the stick, but the aftershave is quite nice. Face lathering isn’t something I do a lot of, but I rose an adequate lather with no problems. As before, it comes off pretty clean with little residual slickness.

The Shave: I find using a wedge to be significantly different than with hollow grinds. It just feels and sounds different. I even feel they are a little less forgiving than a hollow grind; yet not to the degree of a shavette. I did eek out a CCS+ and I’m sure with slicker soap and better blade prep this will be a great shaver. But that will have to wait, because a package arrived in this afternoons mail. So it will be a good thing this shave won’t last long. @The Monkey John sent me his Vector to try so my hardware is selected for a couple shaves! (So excited!)

From my experience wedge grinds seem less forgiving of mistakes simply because they have so much mass behind the edge in addition to not flexing. if you make a mistake or hit an angry follicle they just keep on moving where a hollow may stall and give you that half second to abort and avoid damage. the lack of flex is also why they are normally so much quieter when cutting.

On the flip side if you have a very coarse beard they can actually be better for the same reasons. the hair just can't slow them down!

Razor: Blackland Vector / Feather ProGuard
Soap: PdP 63
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Frank Shaving “Macy”
AS/EdT: PdP 63
Talc:

Comments: First Shave with a Vector. Precautionary use of the ProGuard blade was completely unnecessary. Hokey Smokes! This is one smooth cutting razor! I knew within the first couple of seconds it was gonna be nice. I’m no generally one to get all excited over something like this, but I was blown away with this. Last time I was this surprised was with the 74 in my Injector. These razors are going to battle for most favored status!

The Hardware: Close examination of the razor reveals the precision of CNC milled parts, high quality material and attention to detail that make for a fine tool. The unusual way the blade is secured is key to the low mass and nimbleness with which this razor can be employed.

The Software: I’m glad I broke out this soap! It was growing in the tub an might have overflowed its container of I hadn’t used some of the excess. Super hard and easy to lather, this is a top shelf soap

The Shave: I was so excited to try this razor! Four passes left me with a clear bbs with no alum sting. I think where the Vector might have an edge over the Jectah I’d in that the feather blades are clearly more sharp than usual. (See what I did there?) We shall see as time passes. I’m glad I got on the list with such a discount and anxiously await my own.

Razor: Blackland Vector / Schick Pro
Soap: Fine Platinum
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Frank Shaving “Macy”
AS/EdT: Fine Platinum
Talc:

Comments: Shave 2 with the Vector. This time with a fresh Schick Pro 30 blade. Kind of a quickie as Mom in Law is coming over. Set up my stuff and Spousal unit was unpleased as she was about to do her hair. Ha! I was there first!

The Hardware: every part of this razor seems to be designed to enhance the shave experience, except when they went to the tiny head. It redistributes lather if not rinsed often. A tiny price to pay!

The Software: Fine soaps were probably the first non-drugstore soap I bought in any quantity. Hard soap, but loads easy and performs good to great. I sprinkled a little wsx35 to bring on a little chill.

The Shave: You guys weren’t overstating the impact a fresh blade has with this razor! It’s even smoother than Monday. 3 passes and I’m certain a 4th pass would not find anything to cut! I’ll be sending this one home today and anxiously wait for mine to arrive. It will be more exciting now!

Razor: Schick Type M / Personna 74 (31)
Soap: Lisa’s Natural Herbal Creations Smoked Black Tea
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Sorrentino TSC Anniversary
AS/EdT: Thayers
Talc:

Comments: Was very pleased to take part with my High School Homecoming (my 40th) by marching with the band at the game. I was the oldest participant, but if things go as we discussed, I may not be next year.

The Hardware: The Personna enters the 30’s with this shave and it’s starting to show its age. It was still plenty sharp. It is just about at the end though. The shave is still comfortable and had no alum sting. Just gonna need to dial up the aggression to determine if that helps.

The Software: Lisa’s Soaps are amazing for performance and it’s skin nourishing goodness. It showed ability to take a LOT of water without breaking. I’ve only got the one tub for now. There will be more

The Shave: Three passes and a lot of cleanup and I was amazed to find no alum sting at all. That’s why I’m thinking I had the razor set too low. I may be premature in my thoughts of this blade being done.

That’s me on the end, looking plump. And old.

Awesome Rich! You show those youngsters how it’s done!

I was the oldest participant, but if things go as we discussed, I may not be next year.
What the heck is that supposed to mean? :ROFLMAO:
The youngsters aren’t going to kick your bucket at the 50 yard line are they?

The idea was to allow us to bring friends who weren’t necessarily alums to come play. And we are putting the arm of our old director (yes he’s still alive) to come.
