Razor: Schick Model M / Personna 74 Tungsten (30)
Soap: Oz Wicked
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Oz Silver Snow Cashmere
AS/EdT: Oz Wicked
Talc:

Comments: For Shave # 30 with the Personna blade I tried something different. Taking from other advice regarding making a Blade last longer, I flipped the blade over last night. It was a bit more difficult than I would have originally thought, but with a bit of fiddling, I was able to wiggle the 74 back into an Injector blade holder. I’m not sure but that it may be a tiny bit thicker than the blades in the Schick cartridge I was trying to put it in. At any rate, I re-inserted the blade to the razor, palm stropped it and it was ready to try.

The Hardware: Flipping the blade was just the ticket! It felt like a different blade altogether, in a good way. I am very confident in the M’s ability to deliver a great shave. No disappointment here.

The Software: This is my first try of Oz soap. Good stuff! I think I could have added a little more water. Pretty slick, but maybe a little too thick. I really like this fragrance, I need to dial the water in better. The A/S matches perfectly.

The Shave: If the Vector is as good as the love it receives, it’s gotta be a heck of a razor if it’s better than this Injector. I’m pretty sure Santa has one coming for Christmas. Three passes and I’m plenty smooth.

Wicked good shave Rich! I have never used an injector, but you got a lot of people that will vouch for the Vector.

This is my first try of Oz soap
Man, I thought for sure you had gotten in on my Oz Soap Sample pass..... Glad you are now discovering it. It's one of my favorite soaps. I personally don't like the Wicked scent, but there are only a couple of theirs that I don't like, the rest are awesome!

Razor: Klas Tornblom 5/8 shoulderless
Soap: CBL Oud Minerale
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Strong Set 19mm Badger
AS/EdT: Thayers

Comments: Today I attempted to touch up a razor using the Dr Matt non-slurry technique under running water. While he was demonstrating it looked super easy and he was getting his blade sticky sharp in just a few strokes. Well, my Friends, this does not happen with KT’s. I stroked and circled and x stroked and never came anywhere near sticky. I stropped the living crap out of it and arrived at arm hair popping sharp.

The Hardware: I likes me some KT! I likes ‘em a whole lot! Better than any other I’ve had (I do still have a pretty extensive collection of CVH’s too.

The Software: CBL soaps rule. And add a subtle, yet dynamite scent and I’m no sure I’ll using am aftershave.

The Shave: Dr. Matt’s technique is probably the bees knees, but I’m either too impatient of my technique is too shot. I want to get the set freshen up so I can actually do a week with the set.

I must be getting Grandpa fever, this is a chain I want to try and build.room enough of a reader and two wee readers! 7C76FFF4-F6D7-4F95-9BD5-50C26334080F.png

Yeah...have to agree with Chris on that one. It almost looks as if they took an entire log (and it would have to be a big one at that) and carved out that rocking chair from it. I had a couple of rocking chairs made a few years ago for the inlaws and it cost me about $300. I got a good deal I know...but still $8k for a rocking chair?

The craftsmanship on that chair is top-notch. But $8,000?

But then again, other folk might have the same type reaction on what we spend on shaving gear.

Razor: Gillette Aristocrat / Gillette Silver Blue
Soap: Arizona Shaving Sangre De Drago
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Rubberset 15s NOS
AS/EdT: Sangre De Drago
Talc:

Comments: This is a soap selected by the Spouse unit from the Mystery Box. I got the AS just to match it and to also use with CBL’s Dragons Blood. Interesting Google exercise with the Medieval plague Mask, and what exactly is Dragons Blood. Week two of College pick’em kiosks off as an OSU touchdown flashes on my screen.

The Hardware: Not really taking any chances this time. It’s hard to go wrong with an Aristocrat and Silver Blue. Brought out my Rubberset 15s with the fly imbedded in the handle. It’s a little floppy, but for a small diameter knot it’s quite the Lather er.

The Software: Gotta watch it with this bottle. It glurg out the product. Smells really nice and I think it will flash off to a nice fragrance.

The Shave: Three passes and a cleanup on the jawline and I’m sporting a solid BBS. Now gotta get out there and get some football watched!

Razor: RazoRock GameChanger / Gillette Silver Blue
Soap: RazoRock “what the puck” Orange sunrise
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Maggard Synthetic
AS/EdT: Fine Orange noir
Talc:

Comments: This is another soap selected by the Spouse unit from the Mystery Box. The puck looks pristine so I scraped off some shavings to bloom and lather in the bowl. Feeling kind of discombobulated today. It’s glorious outside but I have no desire to go out and play. Maybe when the meds kick in I’ll be better. I have a brush pile to dispose of. I suppose I’ll get to it. In the meantime I’ll just enjoy this shave.

The Hardware: The trusty GameChanger in hand as a proven performer lends a lot of confidence approaching the shave, even though I’m not sure how many shaves are on the blade, or how the marine environment it was last used has affected it. The Maggard is a mainstay brush.

The Software: I wildly miscalculated how much soap I needed. Ended up with enough to dump on a runway for a fearless plane to land on! Strong juju in this soap with a quite pleasant tangerine fragrance to my nose. It takes a lot of water

The Shave: Three passes and a cleanup on the jawline and I’m sporting a solid BBS. Now gotta get out there and get some football watched!

A recent sighting of a rare albino or white deer has sparked some discussion over the health of Ohio’s deer population. Locally we are super overpopulated with an estimated 1000 deer per square mile in this part of the county. Piebald and white deer often are indicators of this. Some people get all upset when you bring in a piebald to the check-in station. Albino deer are revered by some and many hunters will not harvest the animal. I don’t know what I’d do if presented with the opportunity, but with deer season approaching, I know we’ll get at least two tags this year.

Personally I spotted something even more rare:

That is interesting to see a White Deer like that. I wouldn't have thought it would be alarm for health concerns though. Either way...that deer is a beauty!

It is thought that while albinism is a pretty normal aberration, the piebald condition I’d deer can come from inbreeding as it is often accompanied by other health problems in the animal caused by recessive genes.

By golly, 1k deer per mile?! That’s like shooting fish in a quick moving barrel!

Never heard of “piebald” before. You mean the deer species has inbred mouth breathers too?! 😲 I learned something new today!

Agreed, beautiful animal though.

Yup. Autumn is a pretty treacherous time to be driving at dusk and dawn. Dadburned deer keep darting into the road and bashing up cars. It’s truly a hazard.

Razor: Dovo 5/8 Inox
Soap: Barrister and Mann “42” Hitch hiker tribute
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Sterling Boar
AS/EdT: B&M 42
Talc:

Comments: going through pictures on my phone I came across this photo (below). Inspired me to dig out products I’ve not used in quite a while.

The Hardware: Dorco makes a fine blade. I’ve been practicing my finishing stone work and this was my latest effort. I finished on an ILR and running water until the blade got sticky. Actually it was more jumpy than sticky. I stropped on firehouse then horsehide and brought it to the sink.

The Software: This soap carries a very heavy floral fragrance. It also lathers like a champion! It took next to no time at all to work up a serviceable lather. On my vlog I cut away to lather and didn’t really need to.

The Shave: Two passes and a cleanup on the jawline and I’m sporting a solid BBS. Mommas not wild about this soap, but I like it to help me sleep.
